Door County Shipwrecks - The Hanover
Check out doorcountyboattours.com for more information.
Originally built in 1853, the Hanover was used as a cargo ship that sailed along the Great Lakes. It ran aground on a shoal near the Strawberry Islands and Fish Creek, WI in 1867. The cargo was removed and the ship was stripped and abandoned. In 2014 it was re-discovered and is now a part of the State and the National Register of Historic Places. Today the Hanover sits in 27 feet of water and is only visible from the surface in the spring when the ice first melts. Door County Adventure Rafting offers trips to the Hanover and can use sonar to view it in the summer months.
