Observation Point THE EASY WAY | Zion National Park
This is a video showing the easier route to Zion National Park's Observation Point. You need to pay for a private shuttle to the East Mesa Trail head.
It's great to see a different part of the park with no people (we didn't see a single person until they began arriving from the bottom-up hike).
Ambient sound only, no music, to give a feeling for how quite it is compared to the main canyon.

West Rim Trail at Zion National Park: Top-Down from Lava Point to Angel's Landing / Zion Canyon
A hike (~18 miles) along the West Rim Trail in Zion National Park.
Sources indicating official length of the trail vary. The hike depicted involved the hike up Angel's Landing and other extensive sightseeing along the trail, as well as an unintentional detour. Our estimate may be high, however we feel that due to the relative difficulty of the trail, it is preferable to overestimate the length, perhaps helping others heed additional caution.
Inexperienced hikers are strongly advised to hike the West Rim Trail as a two-day backpacking trip, which includes camping at a marked site and filtering one's own water. To fully experience the trail in one day, we suggest one get started early in the morning and be prepared for 10-12 hours of strenuous hiking.
To reach the trailhead from Springdale drive west to the town of Virgin, then turn north on Kolob Terrace Road. Drive 19 miles and turn at sign indicating Lava Point. At the next junction, turn left to reach the West Rim Trail Head. Be aware of poor road conditions, and also make plans to either be dropped off at the trail, or to be returned to your vehicle later, as this is not a round-trip hike.
Note: This video depicts only a tiny fraction of the vast wilderness of Zion National Park. Plan ahead to avoid dehydration, exhaustion, inclement weather, and dangerous falls. Getting lost will obviously exacerbate all the above risks.

East Rim Trail to Weeping Rock in Zion N.P.
Observation Point Hike Zion Utah (Watch in 1080p)
Quick preview of what its like to hike the absolutely stunning Observation Point trail in Zion's Utah.
The hike from the Weeping Rock Trailhead to Observation Point is a Zion classic and the viewpoint at the end of the trail is an iconic image of Zion National Park. The Observation Point Trail is a strenuous 8-mile (round trip) hike that could take between 4 to 6 hours and involves a lot of unrelenting uphill on a hard paved trail that was blasted out of the canyon walls. Along the way, hikers get a glimpse into the dark and mysterious Echo Canyon with its beautiful slickrock formations and stunning White Cliffs. While this hike isn't as exposed or fear-inducing as Angels Landing, with an elevation gain of over 2,100 feet, Observation Point is a more strenuous workout!
The hike to Observation Point starts at the Weeping Rock Trailhead, the 7th stop on the Zion Canyon Shuttle. The mostly paved trail doesn't waste any time gaining elevation as it zigzags its way up the eastern walls of Zion Canyon. In no time, you will be a several hundred feet above the canyon floor with a good view of Weeping Rock below and of Angels Landing across the valley. Roughly halfway up the initial ascent from Weeping Rock is the spur trail to Hidden Canyon. Observation Point Trail Many guidebooks recommend hiking to Hidden Canyon as a quick diversion on your way to Observation Point, but this doesn't allow much time to explore Hidden Canyon. (Give yourself an extra 1-4 hours if you intend on exploring beyond the mouth of the canyon.)
Once past Hidden Canyon, the trail continues its fast ascent until it finally escapes out to Echo Canyon: a large side canyon pantheon roughly 1000 feet above the valley floor. The mood of the trail quickly changes as you are now surrounded by canyon walls and treated to cooler temperatures and glimpses into the dark slot canyon sections of Echo Canyon. The trail crosses over the dry streambed and then continues a slower ascent up the other side of the canyon. About a mile into Echo Canyon, you will reach the junction with the East Rim Trail, a less-obvious and more difficult trail that meanders around Echo Canyon and heads to Cable Mountain, Deertrap Mountain, and the East Entrance Trailhead. (The East Rim Trail is another scenic trail that deserves a full day.)
Beyond the East Rim Trail junction, the Observation Point Trail resumes its steep zigzags as it makes its final ascent through the upper White Cliff formations and after 2,100 feet of elevation gain, you will be standing on the rim of the sandy upper plateau! The last mile is mostly level as the trail heads northwest to loop around above the main canyon. Along the way, you will pass one last trail junction, the junction with the East Mesa Trail, a not-so-commonly used alternate route to Observation Point from the east boundary of the park.
Observation Point TrailSoon enough the trail heads south and you will reach Observation Point, a magnificent rim vantage point with a 270-degree view. Note Angels Landing and the valley road far below! The trees and sandstone offer great places to enjoy lunch. Return the way you came. Note that the pounding downhill on the paved trail is not kind on the knees, so allow plenty of time and take it easy.
Joe's Spin:
Weeping Rock to Observation Point is a good workout. While the zigzagging trail may prove to be a bit monotonous for some, the view from Observation Point is stunning. Equally sublime are the views in Echo Canyon, from the grand beauty of the White Cliffs to the intimate beauty of peering into the slot canyon sections as the trail crosses the drainage. You will definitely feel this hike in your legs and in your lungs!

Arizona Trail East Rim Hike with Dogs
Grand Canyon North Rim was the place Paul worked for the end of the summer season last year. While we were there I hiked every hike at the North Rim. It was awesome! I highly suggest checking out coolworks.com if you are interested in working at a resort or national park. The hike in this video is just outside of the national park because dogs are not allowed on hikes within the park. Our dogs love hiking so we took them to the Arizona Trail where they could hike and enjoy themselves. Dino is just a small puppy here. It's fun to see him all tiny and spunky.
The Arizona Trail is a long distance trail that runs all the way through Arizona. A portion of it contains the rim to rim hike of the grand canyon. You can find out more at aztrail.org

Zion National Park's West Rim Trail, part 2
We recently hiked a traverse across Zion National Park from northwest to southeast, starting in the Kolob Canyons and finishing at the East Entrance. This part 2 video includes some footage from the stunning West Rim Trail portion of the hike. For more, go to HaveMediaWillTravel.com.
Zion National Park, Utah, United States.
An extended video of my visit to the Zion National Park, Utah, United States.
I was really looking forward to seeing Zion NP and started filming miles short of the canyon itself. The Park set up is such that car parking is an issue so I parked several miles short of the entrance in Springdale to save the risk of hitting the Visitor Center and finding it full (in the summer no cars can enter the Scenic Drive which is the best part).
The Park provides a shuttle bus from Springdale and it worked out well for me so I can recommend it as an option (when I got to the Visitor Center the car park looked full but I didn't notice cars waiting).
The Park is simply stunning. I didn't have time to head much away from the main sites but there are quite a few hikes in the park and even walking a short distance away from one gives a whole new perspective on the park. The area around Zion Lodge is well worth a wander and the view from Weeping Rock is amazing (although time of day makes a big difference when you need the sun to be in the right spot to make the view extra special).
I ran out of time to drive the Zion-Mt Carmel highway so I plan to revisit and spend a bit more time exploring the park.
