There are many landmarks in Nagasaki to remind locals and visitors about August 9, 1945 when the A-Bomb was dropped. Nagasaki Peace Park is one of those place and the hypocenter of the blast.
The explosion crushed, burned and killed everything in sight. The hypocenter remains as an international peace park and symbol of aspirations for world harmony.

Hiroshima - Atomic Bomb Dome - Peace Memorial Museum
On August 6, 1945, during the final stage of the Second World War, the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The two bombings, which killed at least 129,000 people, remain the only use of nuclear weapons for warfare in human history.
The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is museum located in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, in central Hiroshima, Japan dedicated to documenting the atomic bombing that occurred with the additional aim of world peace. The museum was established in August 1955 with the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Hall (now the International Conference Center Hiroshima). It is the most popular of Hiroshima's destinations for school field-trips from all over Japan and for international visitors. 53 million people had visited the museum from its opening in 1955 through 2005. The number of visitors is over one million per year. The architect of the main building was Kenzo Tange. Source: wiwipdia

An atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki at 11:02 am on Aug. 9, 1945, wiping out precious lives of 74,000 people and turning affected areas into ashes in an instant. There remain a large number of people who could fortunately survive but are still suffering from after-effects of the bombing. The sorrow of victims cannot heal though many years have since passed.
Heiwa Kinen-zo was built to prevent a recurrence of such a disaster on the earth, wish for world peace and pray for the victims of the bombing. The statute was completed in 1955 by Seibo Kitamura, a locally born sculptor. The bronze statue is 9.7 meters high, sitting on a 3.9-meter base, and weighs some 30 tons. It is said that the statute’s right hand is raised upward to point to the threat of nuclear weapons while the horizontally extended left hand symbolizes peace. The gently closed eyes are said to offer a prayer for the repose of the bomb victims’souls. The face does not look Japanese because it is a “Person who goes beyond human races.”
The surrounding area of the statute in the Nagasaki Peace Park is designated as a zone to pray for world peace and has the Fountain of Peace to mourn the victims who died, seeking water, as well as the Peace Bell and monuments donated by other countries, prompting visitors to consider the importance of peace. On Aug. 9 every year, the Nagasaki Memorial Service for the Dead and Peace Ceremony are held in front of the statute.

NAGASAKI ATOMIC BOMB MEMORIAL
After a few days working on vlogs for you guys in Nagasaki, I headed to the Atomic Bomb Memorial, where I learnt more about the second nuclear weapon that was used in warfare.
The museum itself was quite full on and in some parts a bit gory, with some body parts on display and also a full on understanding of how parts of Nagasaki look after the bomb exploded.
After the museum I visited the hypocenter memorial and the Peace Park, which again was a moving experience.
To me, to visit the memorials, it was a moving experience and something that gave me a bit of closure and understanding for myself.
I always believe that no textbook, website or lecture will ever do a place like this justice and I always believe you need to visit these places to understand better.

The United States dropped the plutonium-based 'Fat Man' atomic bomb on Nagasaki on August 9, 1945, three days after dropping the uranium-based 'Little Boy' on Hiroshima. The twin bomb attack is estimated to have claimed the lives of around 50,000 people.

Hate to Love: Nagasaki, Japan. 長崎、日本:愛を憎む。

On the Mind of Hate and War.
10/03/13-10/06/13
War. Not peace.
Evil. Not good.
Enemies. Not friends or family.
Hate. Not love.
The boy has forced the man's hand. Eternal vendetta and obliterate everything our families have built over generations of blood, sweat and tears with more trauma and agony. Batten down on turmoil; exhaust raw nerve, rage from boiled insides and scrape away lifetimes of potential, until all is lost.
Absent superego, greed, narcissism and psychopathy have poisoned men's souls towards perpetual oblivion for ourselves and everything around us. Each and every disagreeable notion is interpreted in our toxin-tainted minds as an act of aggression. Any and everyone else around is just a waste of space, supplies and air. Care for nothing but our own cowardice and aggressive self-preservation.
... But once we've finally sabotaged the manifest nemesis of our own delusions, our greatest, worthy, equalizing opponent still lies in wait: It's the most relentless enemy you will ever face. It's the most alluring lust your bones will ever desire, the deepest chronic pain you will ever cringe, the most uncontrollable hunger and thirst you will ever crave... and it will never go away.
It's not the devil. It's not those you suspect oppose you. It's not an external enemy. It's not another person or even physicality. It's constantly working to destroy you and you will try to deny it exists until it's too late to even try to fight it. It will remain forever inside, and it will eventually kill you and everyone you have ever known- no surrender, no retreat.
When there's no one left to fight you will resort inside, turn on yourself and self-destruct.
