Beginning in the late 1970s, a sinister presence cast a shadow over an isolated part of central Oregon. It lurked in the background, ignored or unnoticed. Women, often vulnerable or marginalized, were disappearing.
These are the stories of the ghosts of Highway 20.

'The Cleveland Strangler': The Story of a Brutal Serial Killer & His Forgotten Victims
At least 11 black women were raped and killed on Cleveland's East side between 2007 and 2009 by a man named Anthony Sowell. It's one of the worst cases of serial murder in recent history and has been largely left untold.
For Wilbert L. Cooper, who was born and raised in Cleveland, the real story lies in how Sowell was able to get away with these heinous acts for two years. These crimes say as much about the depraved killer as they do about race, class, and law enforcement in the City of Cleveland.
Wilbert goes home to dive back into the case that's haunted the city, meeting with some of Sowell's surviving victims, family members of the deceased, and the police officers who put Sowell on death row.

SUMMARY
=======
Lynching is the practice of murder by a group by extrajudicial action. Lynchings in the United States rose in number after the American Civil War in the late 1800s, following the emancipation of slaves; they declined in the 1920s but have continued to take place into the 21st century. Most lynchings were of African-American men in the South, but women were also lynched, and white lynchings of blacks occurred in Midwestern and border states, especially during the 20th-century Great Migration of blacks out of the South. The purpose was to enforce white supremacy and intimidate blacks by racial terrorism. On a per capita basis lynchings were also common in California and the Old West, especially of Latinos, although they represented less than 10% of the national total. Native Americans and Asian Americans were also lynched. Other ethnicities (white, Finnish-American, Jewish, Irish, Italian-American) were occasionally lynched.
The stereotype of a lynching is a hanging, because hangings are what crowds of people saw, and are also easy to photograph. Some hangings were professionally photographed and sold as postcards, which were popular souvenirs in some parts of the U.S. Victims were also killed by mobs in a variety of other ways: shot repeatedly, burned alive, forced to jump off a bridge, dragged behind cars, and the like. Sometimes they were tortured as well, with body parts sometimes removed and sold as souvenirs. Occasionally lynchings were not fatal (see Lynching survivors in the United States). A mock lynching, putting the rope around the neck of someone suspected of concealing information, might be used to compel confessions.According to the Tuskegee Institute, 4,743 people were lynched between 1882 and 1968 in the United States, including 3,446 African Americans and 1,297 whites. More than 73 percent of lynchings in the post-Civil War period occurred in the Southern states. According to the Equal Justice Initiative, 4,084 African-Americans were lynched between 1877 and 1950 in the South.Lynchings were most frequent from 1890 to the 1920s, with a peak in 1892. Lynchings were often large mob actions, attended by hundreds or thousands of watchers, sometimes announced in advance in newspapers and in one instance with a special train. However, in the later 20th century lynchings became more secretive, and were conducted by smaller groups of people.
According to Michael Pfeifer, the prevalence of lynching in postbellum America reflects lack of confidence in the due process judicial system. He links the decline in lynching in the early twentieth century with the advent of the modern death penalty: legislators renovated the death penalty...out of direct concern for the alternative of mob violence. He also cites the modern, racialized excesses of u ...

President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Review Board Files: Unsealing Documents (1992)
The assassination and the subsequent conspiracy theories surrounding his death have been the topic for many films. More on the assassination:
the 1966 Emile de Antonio documentary Rush to Judgment, based on Mark Lane's book;
David Miller's 1973 Executive Action;
Nigel Turner's 1988, 1991, 1995 and 2003 continuing documentary The Men Who Killed Kennedy.
Oliver Stone's 1991 JFK,[1] based in part upon the book On the Trail of the Assassins by former Orleans Parish (Louisiana) District Attorney Jim Garrison.
The Rat Pack, a 1998 HBO TV film about the group of entertainers giving their contribution to Kennedy's election in 1960. He was portrayed by William Petersen.
Other filmmakers have drawn inspiration from the assassination, rather than portraying it directly:[citation needed]
The 1974 film The Parallax View is about a senator who is assassinated, with the assassin himself dying violently quickly thereafter. The protagonist, an investigative reporter played by Warren Beatty, is on the verge of solving the mystery when another senator is murdered. This time, he gets blamed for the murder, also posthumously.[vague]
The 1979 French film I comme Icare takes place in a fictional Western country, and tells the story of a presidential assassination from the viewpoint of one of the dissenting members of a Presidential committee similar to the real-world Warren Commission. He then starts his own investigation. The title is from the Greek myth about Icarus, who flies too close to the sun. The investigator himself is killed when he comes too close to the truth.
In the 1979 film Winter Kills, U.S. President Timothy Kegan is shot at Hunt Plaza in Philadelphia. The ensuing Presidential commission condemns a lone gunman as the killer. The film starts years later, when Kegan's half-brother, Nick, witnesses the death-bed confession of a man claiming to have been part of the hit squad.
In 1975, a San Francisco-based group of artists called Ant Farm reenacted the Kennedy assassination in Dealey Plaza, and documented it in a video called The Eternal Frame. Two years later, the assassination was re-enacted again as part of the ABC television movie The Trial of Lee Harvey Oswald, looking at what might have happened had Jack Ruby not prevented Oswald from going to court. The 1983 NBC TV mini series Kennedy showed the assassination from Jackie Kennedy's perspective.
Andy Warhol's 1966 film Since recreated the assassination from multiple perspectives with participants from The Factory.[2] Since is heavily improvised and explores the media portrayal of the assassination.
JFK assassination have also been treated humorously:
In the TV series Seinfeld, episode The Boyfriend, Part 1 (1992), a ballpark spitting incident is revisited, and a second spitter theory, à la the second gunman theory, is discussed, in a parody of the final courtroom scene in JFK. In another episode, Elaine said that a relative worked in the book depository building with Lee Harvey Oswald. Elaine said that when her relative told Oswald that Kennedy had been shot, Oswald winked at him and said 'I'm gonna catch a movie'.
The 2002 film Interview With the Assassin presents the assassination and resultant conspiracy theories in mock documentary fashion, with a terminally ill former Marine named Walter Ohlinger who claims that he was the second gunman behind the fence on the grassy knoll. In the same year, in Bubba Ho-tep, Ossie Davis played an assassination-obsessed character with a scale model of Dealey Plaza, and photos of the various players on his wall.
The award-winning (titanic)[clarification needed] short film My Dinner With Oswald, directed by Paul Duane and written by Donald Clarke, focuses on a re-creation of the assassination at a Dublin dinner party.
In the Comedy Central series Strangers with Candy, Stephen Colbert's character asserts that Fidel Castro impersonated Marilyn Monroe and gave President Kennedy a case of syphilis so severe that eventually it blew the back of his head off.
The Sibling Rivalry episode of Family Guy showed a cutaway gag after a character had been called a bad marksman nearly as bad as Lee Harvey Oswald.

#41 Mystery Babylon 11: The Assassins
This is Part 11 in a series of live broadcasts by William Cooper on the Hour of the Time shortwave radio program on Mystery Babylon.
The story of the Hashshashin, from whence the word assassin is derived, an Arab/Islam tentacle of Mystery Babylon.
Again the symbology, initiations, and esoteric secrets are similar to Freemasonry.
The Hashshashin, who utilized drugs, illusion, mind control, covert methods of spying, political assassinations, terrorism, and murder of their enemies, are the forerunners of modern covert Black Ops organizations such as the CIA, Mossad, MI-6, Al Qaeda, KGB, and Hezbollah.
#42 Mystery Babylon 12: The Templars and The Assassins 51:52
This is Part 12 in a series of live broadcasts by William Cooper on the Hour of the Time shortwave radio program on Mystery Babylon.
The rise of the Knight Templars. It is a myth that the Templars were created to defend Jerusalem and pilgrim travelers, for they were created as an Order of the Mystery Religion. An Order cloaked with the appearance of Christianity. The Templars learned their ways from the Hashshashin, with whom they were in contact with in the mid-east. The Templars brought the Mystery Religion back to Europe with them, along with their riches and became the first international bankers. They were the original Communists and introduced Socialism to the nations of Europe and Lorded over the Kings and Princes of Europe.
They were the beginning of the modern era's march towards the New World Order.
William Cooper also briefly talks about Waco and Ruby Ridge.
#43 Mystery Babylon 13: The End of The Templars 1:42:07
This is Part 13 in a series of live broadcasts by William Cooper on the Hour of the Time shortwave radio program on Mystery Babylon.
The Oaths of the Templars. The Hospitaliters. Templars richer than the kings and nations they operated in. The Templars, frustrated in their attempt to take back the Holy Land from the Moslem hordes, plotted to turn on the Pope and the Kings of Europe and to overcome all of Christianity. The story of Jacques DeMolay, the persecution and execution of the Templars, and the fall of the Templars who are driven underground. The Baphomet and the adoration of man's intellect. The origins of Friday the 13th and the first October Surprise.
#46 Mystery Babylon 14: The Skull and Bones 2:29:06
This is Part 14 in a series of live broadcasts by William Cooper on the Hour of the Time shortwave radio program on Mystery Babylon.
England and Scotland became the safe haven for the persecuted and fugitive Templars on the continent.
The elusive connection between the Order of The Knight Templars and the Order of Freemasonry is found in the genealogy of the families of the Elite. William Cooper discusses the book, Born in Blood, the Lost Secrets of Freemasonry, by John J. Robinson.
The French Roots of Freemasonry.
The Freemason's symbology and ritual confirms the connection with the Templar persecution in France. The Freemasons, who were not, as popularly believed, a guild of medieval stone masons, but an underground secret society to designed to protect the fugitive Templars from the deadly persecution of the Pope and the King of France, were known also as the Sons of Light.
The origins of the legend of Hiram Abiff.
The connection to the Skull and Bones, the Pirates, the Rosicrucian Order, the French Revolution, the Order of the Quest, the Brotherhood of Death, the Bush family, families of America's elite, the US Intelligence agencies, and the American political parties.
#47 Mystery Babylon 15: The Roshaniya 3:15:22
This is Part 15 in a series of live broadcasts by William Cooper on the Hour of the Time shortwave radio program on Mystery Babylon.
The Roshaniya, or Illumined Ones of Afghanistan, were a re-emergence of the Cult of the Assassins. The Roshaniya's connection to the Jesuits and the Illuminati of Germany formed by Jesuit Priest, Adam Weishaupt.
The USA was designed as the vehicle of Mystery Babylon to forge the world into their great work, a one word totalitarian socialist government, a government of the elite over the masses.
The coming King of the World. The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion.
Comparison of the Bavarian Illuminati to the Roshaniya.
Now, with the back ground on the Templars, the Assassins, and Roshaniya, we are starting to see the connection to the world events of today with the USA and Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, but there is much more to come.

Cincinnati native artist drinks in exposure from LifeWTR bottle design
It could have been that watercolor she made in eighth grade, the one that hung in the Ohio governor's mansion for a year. It could have been the 100 percent support she received from her mother in her pursuit of art. Or it could just be her raw talent and passionate drive. No matter what instigated it, Adrienne Gaither, 29, who grew up in Cincinnati, was thrilled to find out last fall that her art was chosen to be the label for Pepsi's new line of purified water, LifeWTR. I was told that LifeWTR found me because they were searching for emerging artists, she said. I'm definitely an emerging artist. The theme of the product, which debuted in February, is, Inspiration is as essential to life as water. In an effort to bring more exposure to artists and bring art to more people, those in charge at LifeWTR developed the concept of artwork on the bottles. Consumers are hungry for creativity and searching for inspiration, said Alison Lefleur, associate manager of brand communications. We hope this encourages them to hydrate, too. According to the website, the name is spelled without vowels in the word water for an artsy spin. The product itself is purified water that is pH-balanced with electrolytes added for taste. LifeWTR chooses three artists whose designs are featured on the bottles for a few months. Then a new series begins, with new artists and new designs. The first series, which ran in early 2017, featured three artists who create vibrant art for public spaces. This second series focuses on increasing the visibility of female artists. Lefleur says the company hopes to bring awareness to the fact that half of all artists are women, but only 3 to 5 percent of pieces that hang in museums in the United States and Europe are women's work. When we started our search, we looked for women who have talent and have something to say, Lefleur said. After seeing her art, we immediately knew Adrienne was someone we wanted to work with. For this series of LifeWTR, 20 million bottles will be printed with that art, split between Gaither and the two other artists whose work is featured in this series of bottles.
25. The End of Reconstruction: Disputed Election of 1876, and the Compromise of 1877
The Civil War and Reconstruction Era, 1845-1877 (HIST 119)
This lecture focuses on the role of white southern terrorist violence in brining about the end of Reconstruction. Professor Blight begins with an account the Colfax Massacre. Colfax, Louisiana was the sight of the largest mass murder in U.S. history, when a white mob killed dozens of African Americans in the April of 1873. Two Supreme Court decisions would do in the judicial realm what the Colfax Massacre had done in the political. On the same day as the Colfax Massacre, the Supreme Court offered a narrow reading of the 14th Amendment in the Slaughterhouse cases, signaling a judicial retreat from the radicalism of the early Reconstruction years. The Cruikshank case, two years later, would overturn the convictions of the only three men sentenced for their involvement in Colfax, and marked another step away from reconstruction. Professor Blight concludes with the Panic of 1873 and the seemingly innumerable political scandals of the Grant Administration, suggesting the manner in which these events encouraged northerners to tire of the Reconstruction experiment by the early 1870s.
