Cockington Horse Drawn Carriages, in memory of Rick Passmore RIP
It is with a heavy heart that I post this tribute to Rick Passmore, the owner of Cockington Carriages in Torbay, South Devon. Rick was and perhaps always will be the face of Cockington Village. He was loved by everyone, especially by our dogs, who always enjoyed a biscuit or 3 and a cuddle and even a shelter when it was raining. Rick, who we have known for 25 years will be dearly missed by our family and friends and Cockington for sure will never be the same without him. R.I.P old friend.
Mr Passmore's family broke the news on Facebook in a post which said: We would just like to say that yesterday on September 11th 2013 at 15.45, our Dad, our friend, our Father Rick Passmore passed peacefully from this world after a long dignified and unbelievably brave battle

Cockington Village (1955)
Cockington, Devon.
L/S of a great looking old village - there is tranquility in the air. M/S of a country house. L/S of a house roof seen through the blossoms. Low angle shot of a great looking church. This is 'the prettiest village in England' - says the voiceover.
M/S of, what looks like, ancient walls. Considering that the village exists since 11th century these walls are most probably as ancient as they look. M/S of an archway leading to an ancient well. M/S of a cherry blossom. Several shots of different flowers and bushes emphasises the beauty of the gardens. This is accompanied with the voiceover's discovery that one of the greatest English horticulturists, Robert Sweet, was born in this village. L/S of a lovely looking country house.
Succession of shots of different flowers. Considering the variety of scents around, it seems only natural that the old village industry was the distilling of perfume. M/S of a wooden sign leading to an old village wishing well. L/S of the well.

Tropical Cockington - Devon Holiday Attractions
Cockington is an attractive village on the outskirts of Torquay. It is well worth a visit any time of year. However, its tropical beauty is at its best during the summer. Acres of land invite you to pleasant walks. The countryside offers an abundance of motifs for my painting.
WWII-Era Color Footage of Cockington Village and Various Locations
This clip shows a group of men and women in uniform taking a bus tour around England. Then there are quite a few shots of Cockington Village before the soldiers leave on a train and film some of the passing sights. The group of men and women in the beginning stop in a city, but I don't know where it is, so if someone recognizes it, please comment below.
