WHAT...YOU WILL?
This video is about a performance by The LINLITHGOW PLAYERS of a comedy 'WHAT... YOU WILL?' (based on Shakespeare's 'TWELFTH NIGHT') in Stratford upon Avon on 26th July 2015.
Drenched by heavy rain at RSC's open air stage in the Dell, the actors and a sizeable audience of more than 70 people took refuge at short notice in the nearby Parish Centre of Holy Trinity Church. Deo gratias!
Here are 13+ minutes of extracts from the performance, recorded and edited by a passer by (James Willetts). Viva Caledonia!

US Shakespeare scholar kicked out of Britain second time
A top lecturer has been refused entry to Britain after he returned to Gatwick from a trip with colleagues.
Dr Paul Hamilton, who teaches Shakespeare seminars at the Rose Theatre in Kingston, London, landed at Gatwick Airport following a trip to Iceland on Monday.
But the 44-year-old, who is from California, was put on a flight back to Reykjavik despite having a stamp in his passport granting him permission to enter the UK for six months.
The Shakespeare expert last year said he was treated 'like a common criminal' when immigration officials put him in custody after his student visa expired.
Dr Hamilton, who graduated with his PhD from the University of Birmingham in 2015, was horrified when he was thrown into a cell for ten days in January 2016.
He was later deported to his home state of Arizona as an overstayer.
He was granted permission to teach in Britain again, arriving in the country on November 14 on a six month visa.
But his second deportation this week has sparked outrage among his colleagues.
Timo Uotinen, who was travelling to Iceland with Dr Hamilton for a memorial service, took to Twitter to share his dismay at border control officials, keeping his followers updated throughout his friends arrest.
He wrote: 'Coming back to the UK the border officials deem [Paul] some kind of risk and keep him for an 'interview' even though he was given a 6 month visa. I see him sequestered into a holding pen and twice questioned by a young official suddenly wearing cuffs and a baton.
'[Paul] is taken to the customs table and people walking by the spectacle of Paul's belongings being meticulously examined.. the he is taken back downstairs for 'a more in depth interview'.
'On Nov 14 [Paul] got a 6 month visa and now he is being detained for questioning with the threat of deporting him to Iceland. I feel really bad for Paul: he is being treated like a criminal with no justification.'
He later added: 'I get that the UK border people are just doing their job and this kind of treatment is dictated from above. People who have a visa should not be detained in this manner. And this is not even yet on the issue of immigration detention. #HumanRights'
Mr Uotinen said Dr Hamilton was put on a flight from Gatwick to Iceland at 10.20am after several hours of questioning.
He added border officials handed Dr Hamilton 'a note informing him that they think he is deceitful', and said the evidence used against him was his bank card 'failing to work at an ATM'.
A Home Office spokesperson said: 'We do not routinely comment on individual cases.
'People coming to the UK must be able to demonstrate that they meet the requirements of the immigration rules otherwise they will be refused.'
The English Renaissance and NOT Shakespeare: Crash Course Theater #13
The Renaissance came to England late, thanks to a Hundred Years War that ran long and lasted 116 years, and then a civil war to decide who would be the royal family. BUT after all that, with the Tudors (relatively) securely installed on the throne, there was a flowering of humanism, science, and culture. Theater was a big part of it. Today, we're talking about the London theater scene and the playwrights that set the stage...ahem...for the main man of English Theater, William Shakespeare.

What is Our Part?
On April 13th, for the fourth year in a row, The Global Theatre Project participated in celebrating the brilliance of William Shakespeare with our friends in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England. This year we were exploring the question 'What Is Our Part?' with the young artists of Actors For Autism.
'What Is Our Part' used Jacque's speech in Act II Scene VII of 'As You Like It' as inspiration leading to discussion of issues relating to global citizenship, exploration of meaning and expression of Shakespeare's words and final performances for friends and family. The event was filmed and the edited version of the film will be shown in Stratford, England as a part of their birthday celebrations for the Bard's 449th birthday later this month.
Symbolism, Realism, and a Nordic Playwright Grudge Match: Crash Course Theater #33
It's a Scandinavian grudge match on Crash Course Theater. We're looking at a couple of the key movements in European theater that deeply influenced the modern theater of today. We'll take a close look at two of the most radical and influential European playwrights of the 19th century, who just happened to be mortal enemies. Henrik Ibsen of Norway, and Swede August Strindberg reshaped theater, between bouts of hating each other.

Roman Theater with Plautus, Terence, and Seneca: Crash Course Theater #6
In which Mike delves into the theater of ancient Rome. It wasn't all gladiators and Christian-killing, you know. There was theater, too. Roman drama drew heavily on Greek drama. So heavily, in fact, that many of the stories and characters were lifted directly from Greek plays. This time around, you'll learn about Plautus, Terence, and Seneca, and just what they owe to Menander.

Get Outside and Have a (Mystery) Play: Crash Course Theater #10
Not long after drama reappeared in the unlikely home of European churches, the church decided again it didn't like theater. And so, the budding dramatic scene was kicked out into the harsh elements of the outdoors. So, they started having plays outdoors. Today we'll learn about mystery plays, cycle plays, pageant wagons, and how medieval European theater moved from being a religious phenomenon to a secular one.

BHARAT BLIGHTY & THE BARD
Bharata, Blighty & The Bard - Shakespeare for Everyone.
Notes update - 18th October 2014. Quote from Madhav Sharma.
I was flattered and humbled to be the recipient yesterday of the inaugural Dadabhai Naoroji Award for Culture. It was bestowed on behalf of H.M. Government by Deputy Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Nick Clegg MP.
This treasure box of a show contains over 30 of the most beautiful and memorable extracts written by Shakespeare. It interweaves the life of the performer Madhav Sharma, a British actor of Indian origin, who having been born in Bangalore has had an amazing career in the UK. It was a love of Shakespeare, starting in his childhood, which influenced and somehow directed his life. This video, using excerpts from Madhav's performance, we hope manages to convey the vibrant emotional and cultural importance as to why this one man, born 450 years ago, still dominates the literary and theatrical world with his words.
