Thiruverkadu Karumariamman - Tamil Amman Songs
Ambigai who blessed the Sun
One of the sportive arts of Devikarumari. One day Devikarumari took the image of old nomadic lady and went to Sun to forecast his future. Without realising her as Devikarumari, He simply neglected her. Devikarumari immediately vanished. Sun has lost it's brightness and its glory started declining. Realising his mistake He begged Devikarumari to forgive and excuse him. Sun also requested Devikarumari to celebrate Sunday as the day of Devikarumari. Devikarumari also accepted it. He also got permission from Her to pour on her sun rays twice in a year in the month of Panguni and Purattasi.
So Sunday is celebrated as the day of Karumari . We can happily witness the scene of sun rays falling on the head of Devikarumari twice in a year.
Devikarumari made Narayanan Seat there
Once upon a time Lord Thirumal came to Thiruverkadu to witness the grace rule of Umadevi. When Thirumal personally met his sister Karumari, she requested him to seat there as Srinivasan of Thirumurai and assist Her and bless the devotees who worship Navagraham and stand towards southern direction. He was happy and promised Her, that He would sit by her side and protect the position of Nine planets.
Veda Viyasar was extremely happy to see Annai Parasakthi and Lord Venkatesan together.
Mahamari who gave turmeric
Two sisters by name Sundari and Sarathai were in the snake world. They were having enticing beauty and they could not get suitable bridegroom . To redress this grievance they performed pooja for Kali. Narathar came there and told them the time is ripe now; so go to Thiruverkadu pray Karumari and get Her blessings.
Devikarumari appeared before these sisters and instructed them Children ! Take bath in the Sambar Poigai and drink turmeric water for one mandalam and pray Sakthi. Your grievances will be redressed and you will lead happy life.
As per instructions of Devi Karumari, both the sisters performed the pooja. At the end of one mandalam princess Sambu and Balan came there and saw Sundari and Sarathai. They fell in love with each other. Sundari married Sambu and Sarathai married Balan and they lived happily for long time.
Even now the turmeric of Devi Karumari blesses unmarried girls with bridegrooms and child for those who are not having children. Patients are relieved of their disease.
Poorani - emerged as Neem
Neem is capable of putting a fight against god of death ( Yeman). Neem leaves are slogans! They are diplomatic ! They cure many diseases !. They drive away many evils ! Devi Karumari has said I am living in the neem leaves and it will give life.
People are getting neem leaves from Devi Karumari piously. Mantras uttered With neem leaves and can drive away bad evils and the devotees get cured.

Thiruverkadu Sivan Temple
Thiruverkadu is nowadays more famous for Devi Karumaari Amman temple located there which attracts devotees in large numbers everyday. But the Vedhapureeswarar Temple, located about 1 Km from the Karumari Amman temple, is not known to many. From Thiruverkadu bus terminus, a well laid out concrete road named as Sivan Kovil Road leads you to the Paadal Petra Sivasthalam of Vedhapureeswarar Temple. The main sanctum for Vedhapureeswarar is facing east. Behind the main Sivalingam of Vedhapureeswarar inside the sanctum, the wedding scene of Lord Shiva with Parvati is depicted. According to the legend, Lord Shiva is said to have blessed Sage Agasthiyar with a vision of His marriage with Parvati here. The idols of Agasthiyar and Sooriyan can be seen in the inner prakaram on the left side. The shrine for female deity Baalaambikai is on the left side of the main sanctum facing south. There are separate shrines for Chandikeswarar, Ganapathy, Dakshinamurthy, Brahma and Durgai. A seperate shrine for Saneeswaran can be seen in the south-west corner of the outer courtyard and can be reached by turning right immediately after entering the temple through the main gopuram. This sthalam is also associated with Lord Murugan. Lord Murugan once took Brahma as a prisoner when Brahma could not explain the meaning for Pranavam. Lord Shiva sent Nandi to Lord Murugan with a message to release Brahma but Murugan refused to do so. On coming to know of this, Lord Shiva personally came and convinced His son Murugan and released Brahma. Lord Shiva also punished His son Murugan for his disobedience and ordered him to go to Tiruverkadu and worship Him there for some time. Velayutha Theertham, which is located just outside the east entrance of the temple, is said to have been created by Lord Murugan to worship his father. The shrine for Murugan is located in the inner west proakaram facing east. A sivalingam can be seen in front of Lord Murugan which is a unique feature here in this temple.

Māri (Tamil: மாரி),Tulu(mAri), also known as Mariamman (Tamil: மாரியம்மன், Mother Mari), spelt also Maariamma (Tamil: மாரியம்மா), or simply Amman (Tamil: அம்மன், mother) is the South Indian Hindu goddess of disease and rain. She is the main South Indian mother goddess, predominant in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Māri is also closely associated with the Hindu goddesses Parvati and Durga as well as with her North Indian counterpart Shitala. Most Mariamman temples are humble shrines in villages, where non-Brahmins act as priest using non-agamic rituals. In many rural shrines, the goddess has no form and is represented by a granite stone with a sharp tip, like a spear head. This stone is often adorned with garlands made of limes and with red flowers. These shrines often have an anthill that could be the resting place of a cobra. Milk and eggs are offered to propitiate the snake.
Some temples have also attained enough popularity that Brahmins do officiate at them. For example, at the Samayapuram temple near the shore of river Cauvery, rich agamic traditions are followed and all rituals are performed by Gurukkal of Brahmins.
At Punainallur, near Thanjavur (Tanjore), there is another famous Māri temple. The history says that once Goddess Mariamman appeared to the King Venkoji Maharaja Chatrapati (1676 - 1688) of Tanjore, in his dream and told him that she was in a forest of Punna trees at a distance of about 3 miles from Tanjore. The King rushed to the spot and recovered an idol from the jungle. Under the king's orders a temple was constructed, the idol installed and the place was called Punnainallur. Hence the deity of this temple is known as Punnainallur Mariamman. Mud replicas of different parts of the human body are placed in the temple as offerings by devotees pleading for cure. It is said that the daughter of Tulaja Raja (1729-35) of Tanjore, who lost her eyesight due to illness, regained it after worshiping at this temple.
Other important temples of Mariamman in Tamil Nadu are in the towns of Veerapandi, Theni, Anbil, Narthamalai,Thiruverkadu, Salem, Virudhunagar and Sivakasi. In Chennai (Madras), a famous Mariamman temple is the Putthu Mariamman - the Putthu (ant hill) is across the road from the temple and is located on the Velachery Main Road.
Another famous Mariamman temple is situated in the state of Karnataka, in the town of Kaup, 7 km from the famous temple town of Udipi.

Kaalikambal Temple
George Town
History
Kaalikambal Temple is part of the tradition of naming the port cities of Mumbai, Calcutta and Chennai after the goddess consecrated in a temple on the seashore. Chennamman lent her name to Chennai, capital of Tamil Nadu. She was the presiding deity of Chennai Kuppam, an old settlement in the 17th century CE. The area where the temple now exists was called Maratta town. This changed to Muthialpet and Pavazhakaara Theru – Coral Merchant Street. This area was also called Chennamman Kuppam. The presiding deity of Chennamman Kuppam was Kali and now she is called Kalikambal. For more than 500 years Vishwakarmas (artisans and craftsmen’s community) worshipped Kalika as their family deity. The temple is being maintained by Vishwakarmas.
The temple was originally located closer to the sea shore and was relocated to the current site at 1640 AD. It was then built in 1678. Shivaji, the Maratha warrior and the founder of the Hindawi-Swarajya in the 17th century, had worshiped in this temple incognito on 3 October 1667. It is interesting to note that he came to be called as Chatrapati after worshipping the deity. It is believed that a fierce form of Goddess was held in worship earlier and that this form was replaced with the Shanta Swaroopam (calm posture) form of Goddess. The great Tamil poet, Subramanya Bharathiyar, when he was working for Swadeshi Mithran, used to visit this temple often. He song the famous “Yadumaki Ninrai Kali” song on this deity. The famous TMS’s song ‘Ullam Uruhuthaiya’ was sung for the first time here only, in 1952 by Sri Andavan Pichai.

Marina Beach | Chennai | Tamil Nadu | Vlog
Marina Beach is a natural urban beach in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, along the Bay of Bengal. The beach runs from near Fort St. George in the north to Foreshore Estate in the south, a distance of 6.0 km (3.7 mi), making it the longest natural urban beach in the country. The Marina is primarily sandy, unlike the short, rocky formations that make up the Juhu Beach in Mumbai. The average width of the beach is 300 m (980 ft) and the width at the widest stretch is 437 m (1,434 ft). Bathing and swimming at the Marina Beach are legally prohibited because of the dangers, as the undercurrent is very turbulent. Adi Parashakti - Tamil Devotional Amman Songs
According to Hindu mythology, Adi Parashakti—the Goddess, Devi—is the Supreme Being and recognized as Para Brahman. The Devi Bhagwata Mahapurana suggests that Adi Parashakti is the original creator, observer and destroyer of whole universe. Hence Adi Parashakti is Param Prakriti. Parvati, the goddess of power is considered as her Sagun Swaroop (human form). That is to say that Parvati is the truest material form of the Goddess, possessing the three qualities (Sattva, rajas, or tamas). However, ultimately the Goddess Adi Parashakti is also considered to be truly spirit without form. She is the Great Goddess, and therefore the source of all other goddesses.
Adi Shakti is regarded as the one who can control all the nine planets. She divides herself to Material Shakti i.e. Durga who splits herself to operate nine planets to maintain cosmic order, Vidya Shakti i.e. Kali as source for 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu and Maya Shakti, to delude the beings to illusion and also promotes the beings to Ultimate God. As Durga Shakti She is the one who splits herself to NavaDurga provides direction and energy to all planets.
Sun is Governed by Kushmanda Shakti.
Mahagauri operates Rahu.
Kaalratri governs Shani.
Ketu is governed by Goddess Sidhidhaatri.
Provider of Knowledge i.e. Bhrasapati is governed by Goddess Katyayini
Provider of All Fortunes i.e. Mangal is governed by Goddess Brahmacharini
The effect of moon is overcome by Goddess Shailputri
Budh Planet is governed by Goddess Skandmata
Shukra Planet is operated by Goddess Chandraghanta
By this contrast Goddess Adi Shakti controls Nava Greh. Worshipping the nine goddess in Navaratri or Nine nights of mataji, saves you from dangerous effects of planets.
