Maidenhead is a large market town in Berkshire, England, on the south-western bank of the River Thames. With a population of about 73,000, Maidenhead is the largest town in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. The town is situated 31 miles west of London, 13 miles northeast of the county town of Reading, 32 miles southeast of Oxford and 7 miles from both Henley on Thames and Windsor. The town is also currently the political constituency of the current British Prime Minister, The Hon Theresa May, she has held this role since 13 July 2016.

    The Royal Berkshire Regiment was a line infantry regiment of the British Army in existence from 1881 until 1959. The regiment was created in 1881, as the Princess Charlotte of Wales's , by the amalgamation of the 49th Regiment of Foot and the 66th Regiment of Foot. In 1921, it was renamed the Royal Berkshire Regiment . The regiment saw active service in the Second Boer War, World War I and World War II. On 9 June 1959, the Royal Berkshire Regiment was amalgamated with the Wiltshire Regiment to form the Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment which was again amalgamated, on 27 July 1994, with the Gloucestershire Regiment to create the Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment.
