Water Taxi Abel Tasman New Zealand
For more information & to book:
Abel Tasman Aqua Taxi provides water taxi trips, sea shuttle services, guided tours, seal watching cruises and pack/luggage transport in Abel Tasman National Park, New Zealand.
The Abel Tasman National Park is New Zealand's smallest national park at 22,350ha. Established in 1942, it is famous for its golden beaches, turquoise waters, native bush walks and spectacular scenery.
There are two walking tracks; the beautiful coastal track which takes 3-5 days to walk the entire length and the more remote inland track through the hilly centre of the park which also takes 3-5 days.
If you dont have time to hike the entire length of the National Park then choose one of our half day or full day unguided walks combing with the Aqua Taxi from Kaiteriteri Beach and Marahau.
Kaiteriteri beach is an idyllic holiday place where many kiwis come to holiday. It is a little seaside town with a very laid back holiday atmosphere. Kaiteriteri is one of New Zealand's premier swimming beaches and is known for its safe, sheltered waters and golden sand. It is great to start your Abel Tasman experience straight off the beach with Aqua Taxi.

Able Tasman Coastal Track New Zealand
One of the 9 New Zealand 'Great Walks' the Able Tasman coastal track is a 3 - 5 day hike along the beautiful coastline of the Able Tasman National Park. The track in total is 60km, we caught a water taxi as far north as possible to Totaranui and hiked back down the coast to Marahau. This took 15.5km off the length of the hike but we came back at a later date to complete the top part of the track by doing a 2 day loop hike. Starting at Wainui bay along the coast to Totaranui then inland over Gibbs Hill and back to Wainui carpark. This was perhaps a 30km hike? Which will be in another video. Although I didn't manage to get any swimming footage we took many swim breaks at beautiful secluded coves and napped in the shade on the sandy beaches. We camped in our tent 2 nights, preferring the privacy, peace and quiet over sleeping with strangers snoring and farting all night long in a hut.The weather was perfect, a great time was had and life long memories were made. Enjoy!
Nelson Lakes Angelus Hut Tramp & Able Tasman Coastal Walk - South Island New Zealand
Join Kiwi Princess Wears Hiking Boots on our spectacular Nelson Lakes Angelus Hut Tramp & Able Tasman Coastal Walk - in the South Island of New Zealand. Nelson Lakes offers superb walking opportunities for all.
We decided on a New Zealand Backcountry Tramp (navigational experience etc. required) in the Nelson Lakes National Park. starting from the picturesque Lake Rotoiti to Angelus Hut and Lake Angelus (1 of 5 glacial basins you'll pass) and exting down the uber steep Cedric Track to tranquil Lake Rotoroa and out by water taxi!!
From St Arnaud head up to Robert Ridge Carpark for a fabulous hike along Robert Ridge to the Angelus Basin and delightfully situated Angelus Hut (bookings essential in peak season) run by DOC.
The weather was changeable & moody. Whilst mist was our constant companion it loaned a mystical feel to this rugged New Zealand Landscape. It was a thrilling backcountry tramp and our most glam exit yet!
Nelson Lakes National Park is an attractive outdoor playground for boating, swimming, fishing and hunting.
We also hiked in the nearby Able Tasman National Park. The Able Tasman Coastal Walk (a formatted NZ Great Walk) requires average fittness & preparation. The track's well marked and distances between campsites/accomodation are relatively short. We decided on a single day return hike on the Able Tasman Coastal Track (due to the aftermath of Cyclone Gita). Day One - Marahau to Anchorage is 3.5 - 4 hours each way. Drop down to Appletree Bay on the way for a toilet stop, or a picnic and a swim (weather permitting).

-- About this video --
Today we are joining Wilsons Abel Tasman for a day full of activities in the Abel Tasman National Park! We’re first taking a Wilsons Abel Tasman Water Taxi to Split Apple Rock then Torrent Bay where we are then going to kayak in Abel Tasman. After we reach another beach, we then have the choice to return to Torrent Bay by Kayak or to walk back via the Abel Tasman Coastal Track which is the Abel Tasman Great Walk of New Zealand.
It’s a stunning Abel Tasman Water Taxi ride to Split Apple Rock and other bays in the Abel Tasman National Park. We are dropping off hikers on other bays until it is our turn to jump off the boat with our tour group at Torrent Bay where our Abel Tasman kayak adventure begins.
We have an awesome group of backpackers in our tour led by a guide who gives us a lesson in double kayaking in the Abel Tasman National Park. Then we are ready to hit the water and discover Abel Tasman’s islands, bays and coves. There’s wildlife in the Abel Tasman National Park to see too.
After about an hour we arrive on Medlands Beach for some lunch and our halfway point. We now get to choose whether we kayak back to Torrent Bay or hike in Abel Tasman. We opt for the hike which is the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. The Abel Tasman Coast Track is one of New Zealand’s Great Walks.
The Abel Tasman Coastal Track takes us over swing bridges and through regenerating native forest with views of secluded beaches along the way. We are stoked to be able to do a Great Walk during our 365 Days: 365 Activities.
Once we return, we meet up with the rest of our Wilsons Abel Tasman tour group and catch the Abel Tasman water taxi back to Kaiteriteri!
So what do you think of the Great Walk & Kayak in Abel Tasman National Park? Would you kayak in Abel Tasman or do the Abel Tasman Great Walk? Let us know in the comments!
