From the passionate energy of Amman to the eerie stillness of the Dead Sea, plus a whole lot of camels and some astounding Nabatean ruins in between, Jordan Expedition 2018 transported us back to ancient times and made us fall head over heels for this Middle Eastern country. Explore red sand and dramatic rock formations in Wadi Rum, visit Jordan’s national treasure and UNESCO World Heritage Site - the ancient City of Petra, and float 410 m below the sea level in the salty water of the Dead Sea. MUST DO! 1 day tour of the WADI RUM Desert | JORDAN
SUBSCRIBE to get notified of our next video!!
We visited Jordan because of Petra, but the Wadi Rum desert was the special surprise we didn’t expect! It’s hard to describe the vast, desolate red sand landscape, it’s totally surreal and feels like Mars. Now I can see why so many movies like the Martian, Star Wars and Aladdin came all the way here to use this otherworldly backdrop!
Our tour guide Ahmed took us to giant red sand dunes, slot canyons, arches, showed us how to sand board from the back of a truck and cooked us a traditional Bedouin meal in the middle of the desert! We couldn’t have asked for more.
Add this to your bucket list! There’s a water shortage in Jordan especially in desert areas like Wadi Rum so who knows how much longer you can visit a place like this!
Stay tuned for our next video where we’ll talk more about our Wadi Rum Desert Camp experience on this Martian landscape!

ABOUT US
We have been traveling together for the last 10 years. It all started when we applied to the Amazing Race show and they called us for an interview. We interviewed but didn’t make the final cut because we didn’t have enough ‘drama’ in our relationship. But that didn’t stop us from doing our OWN amazing race of traveling the world but at our own pace! We have just hit our 50th country and thought it would be fun to document our journey!
We are looking forward to hitting all 215 countries. Subscribe to our channel and join us on the adventure!!

JORDANIAN ADVENTURE in AMMAN, PETRA, WADI RUM, RED SEA & DEAD SEA
I have been to Jordan on several trips. This particular trip in this vid was with the Columbia Sportwear crew and several highly intrepid adventure journos. If you are an adventure lover, you will love all that Jordan has on offer. If you are a culture vulture you will love all from the urban ambiance in the vibrant city of Amman to neighboring Jerash with some of the world's best-preserved Roman ruins.
Once outside of the city, it feels like you have stepped back in time. This video will take you along the iconic King's Highway, in and out of Petra, over to Lawrence of Arabia's old stomping grounds in the expanse of Wadi Rum. Finally, it's a dip into the Red Sea for snorkeling and diving. It caps off in the ever-tranquil Dead Sea.

WADI RUM DESERT | Jordan travel vlog
We spent a night and a day in the Wadi Rum Desert, Jordan. We stayed in a traditional Bedouin camp and were treated to Bedouin cuisine cooked under the ground. The next day we went on a jeep tour around the Wadi Rum Desert and saw some of the most epic scenes, some of which were from 'The Martian' movie.

wadi rum camping under the stars
We are Bedouin. We are born and raised in Wadi Rum desert. We grew up sleeping under the stars. In our opinion there is no place to sleep better than in the desert under the stars. We can imagine that leaving a safety of a bedroom or a tent to go and sleep under the stars is a big step for you. But it surly is one you should try. In this blog we will share five things you want to know about sleeping under the stars. It will help you to decide whether sleeping outside is an experience you desire.
In the early morning the light sound of birds in their morning chirp is the only thing breaking the desert silence. Slowly the intense darkness of the night starts to fade as the sun starts to rise. And then the most magical moment of the day: the moment that the sun rises above the horizon and casts it light on the sandstone mountains of Wadi Rum. The refreshed air slowly will be warmed by the rising sun. If you wake up in time you can find yourself a good place to enjoy this magic.
Travel Vlog | Jordan: Wadi Rum
My friends (Montana and James) and I visited Jordan last year 2016. Jordan is a beautiful country, friendly and nice people. We felt safe whilst we were there. The country has so much to offer, Petra, Wadi Rum, Dead sea and more.
We stayed in Wadi Rum for 2 nights and 3 days. We had a good and responsible tourist guide (Salem and Saleh). They made us feel at home and treated us like a friend. The place was amazing, the desert is so big. We slept in an open cave, where we can view million stars whilst we dozed off.
You can contact our guide in this link below. I can guarantee you that they are the best travel guide in Wadi Rum.
We felt safe and they gave us a good memories worth to remember.
I hope you like my video w/ my voice-over on it. I am new to vlogging so please bear with me. Thank you and please don't forget to subscribe. ????

Wadi Rum Protected Area in Wadi Rum, Jordan
Wadi Rum, known also as the Valley of the Moon, is a valley cut into the sandstone and granite rock in southern Jordan 60 km to the east of Aqaba; it is the largest wadi in Jordan.
Wadi Rum Protected Area
The 74,000-hectare property, inscribed as a mixed natural and cultural site, is situated in southern Jordan, near the border with Saudi Arabia. It features a varied desert landscape consisting of a range of narrow gorges, natural arches, towering cliffs, ramps, massive landslides and caverns. Petroglyphs, inscriptions and archaeological remains in the site testify to 12,000 years of human occupation and interaction with the natural environment. The combination of 25,000 rock carvings with 20,000 inscriptions trace the evolution of human thought and the early development of the alphabet. The site illustrates the evolution of pastoral, agricultural and urban activity in the region.
Wadi Rum Protected Area (WRPA) is located in the southern part of Jordan, east of the Rift Valley and south of the steep escarpment of the central Jordanian plateau. It comprises an area of 74,200 hectares. WRPA’s natural values include desert landforms developed within continental sandstones. These landforms have been developed under the influence of a combination of various controlling factors, such as lithology, tectonic activities (including rapid uplift, numerous faults and joints) and surface processes (including various types of weathering and erosion associated with desert climate as well as humid climates in the past), representing million years of ongoing landscape evolution.
Widespread petroglyphs, inscriptions and archaeological remains testify to 12,000 years of human occupation and interaction with the natural environment, illustrating the evolution of pastoral, agricultural and urban human activity in the Arabian Peninsula and the environmental history of the region.
The rock art, inscriptions and archaeological evidence in WRPA can be considered an exceptional testimony of the cultural traditions of its early inhabitants. The combination of 25,000 petroglyphs, 20,000 inscriptions, and 154 archaeological sites provides evidence to continuity of habitation and land-use over a period of at least 12,000 years. The petroglyphs, representing human and animal figures, are engraved on boulders, stones, and cliff faces. They provide evidence of long-term patterns of pastoral, agricultural and urban human activity in the property. Engravings indicate an elaborate sense of aesthetics in a pictorial culture, and the archaeological findings span all eras from the Neolithic to the Nabataean. Thamudic, Nabataean and numerous Arabic inscriptions in four different scripts testify to the widespread literacy among its pastoral societies.
The variety of landforms at WRPA has played an essential role in fostering human settlement. The rock art, inscriptions and water catchment systems document the settlements of successive communities, which developed in areas of mobile animal husbandry and agriculture and form part of a wider context of human interaction with the semi-arid eastern desert environment of the Arabian Peninsula. WRPA assists the understanding of the continuum of settled and mobile lifestyles in a desert landscape illustrating the adaptability and ingenuity of human communities who have made the most of scarce resources to sustain continuous presence after the climate became dryer in the Bronze Age (3rd millennium BC).
WRPA is recognised globally as an iconic desert landscape, renowned for its spectacular series of sandstone mountains and valleys, natural arches, and the range of narrow gorges, towering cliffs, massive landslides, and dramatic cavernous weathering forms displayed. Key attributes of the aesthetic values of the property include the diversity and sheer size of its landforms, together with the mosaic of colours, vistas into both narrow canyons and very large wadis, and the scale of the cliffs. The property displays, in a protected setting, an exceptional combination of landforms resulting from drainage incision, severe weathering by salt, biological and other processes, and the undermining of steep sandstone cliffs by these weathering processes, together with the world’s most spectacular networks of honeycomb weathering features. Its associations with the writings of T.E. Lawrence, stressed strongly in the nomination, have ensured a high profile for the property and have reinforced its reputation of the area as a classic desert landscape both globally and within the Arab States.

When in Jordan...My Holy Land Tour - Floating on the Dead Sea
I have always wanted to visit the Dead Sea and float in its salty and mineral rich water. During my visit to Jordan in the Middle East, I was able to visit some of the most renowned destinations in the country.
When traveling alone it’s hard to capture those magic moments without someone else playing photographer. But, I found a solution! I befriended some travellers so that I could capture my first float in the Dead Sea and Voila! It was time to get to floating!
But before I head off the waters, I couldn't help myself getting messy so when I heard you could cover yourself in the Dead Sea mineral mud… well, you can guess what happened. I baked myself under the sun for about 10-15 minutes until the mud dried, then I washed it off in the Dead Sea. After the dip in the Dead Sea your skin will feel soft and so as your hair like you haven't washed off a conditioner.
There are a few guidelines you MUST follow when visiting the Dead Sea:
Do NOT shave for a few days before your swim. Shaving will most definitely ruin your trip and make contact with the salt water unbearable.
Do NOT get the water in your eyes! No joke it’s like being temporarily blinded. Many people wear goggles in for extra precaution. I was having fun and doing some stunts turning around and accidentally got a tiny drop of water in my right eye. I had to get out and cry it out. It was painful.
A few facts about the Dead Sea:
The Dead Sea lies directly on the border of Israel and Jordan. Jordan to the East and Israel to the West. It is the lowest point of land on Earth at over 400 meters below sea level. At over 30% salinity (salt to water ratio aka about 10 times more salt than sea water), the water is incredibly dense. So much so that you are able to effortlessly float on the surface of the water.
