At ADOLPHO LISBOA Market - Downtown MANAUS
15 minutes after leaving home I'm at ADOLPHO LISBOA, a free market in MANAUS for buying some stuffs, especially herbaceous plants used in teas... like LEMON BALM and BOLDO. ADOLPHO LISBOA is one of the largest open markets in this city, offering a lot of fresh fruits, spices, traditional indigenous medicines like those I've bought and a lot of stuffs. And this is the second video for today... uh... I made this video just to show a small part of this place and obviously, for having a bit of Speaking Practice to help building my confidence in speaking. It's been a month or so since I shared my last videos here, and it can't be denied I'm in need of practice because the only way to correct my mistakes is by practice...by analizing my own practice, identifying my eventual mistakes so that I can fix them. These are my 2 videos for today. I hope it can help increasing my vocabulary and also help improving my intonation and rhythm...

O Mercado Municipal Adolpho Lisboa, um dos mais importantes centros de comercialização de produtos regionais em Manaus, foi construído no período áureo da borracha. Por ser um dos mais importantes exemplares da arquitetura de ferro e, não tendo similar em todo mundo, foi tombado em 1º de julho de 1987 pelo Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (IPHAN).

The Municipal Market Adolpho Lisboa, one of the most important marketing centers of regional products in Manaus, was built in the golden period of the rubber. As one of the most important examples of iron architecture and, having no similar around the world, it was listed on 1 July 1987 by the Heritage Institute for National Artistic (IPHAN).

The Mercado Adolpho Lisboa, also called Mercado Municipal, is a marketplace located in Manaus, Brazil. It lies on the shore of the Rio Negro. The market was constructed in the Art Nouveau style between 1880 and 1883. The building was based on the Les Halles marketplace of Paris, France. The building's metallic structures were built in Paris and sent to Manaus by ship.
The market is one of the largest open markets in the city of Manaus, offering fresh fruits, spices, fish, souvenirs, traditional indigenous medications and among other products. For more information to visit

Mercado Adolpho Lisboa - Manaus
Inaugurado em 1883, o Mercado Municipal Adolpho Lisboa foi o segundo estruturado no país. Inspirado no Mercado de Les Halles de Paris, o prédio foi montado no estilo Art Nouveau com estruturas de ferro e vidro trazidos diretamente da Europa no período áureo da borracha.
Se tornou um dos maiores polos de comércio pesqueiro e rural da Região e durante um período foi administrado pela empresa inglesa Manáos Markets, sendo entregue a administração municipal em 1934.
A construção foi tombada pelo Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional - IPHAN e reinaugurado em 2013.
