Colorado SUP Hui
Stand Up Paddle Colorado is excited to share the first SUP paddling club on Lake Dillon. The goal is to give people access to the best boards in the industry as well as opportunities for coaching and training at elevation.
We are blessed to have a resource like Lake Dillon that is over 25 miles around and over 9000 ft in elevation. Conditions on the lake can change quickly and it creates amazing opportunities to train and become more proficient. The Colorado SUP Hui will meet mid week. There are 3 dawn patrols and 2 after work sessions. Monday, Wednesday and Friday training is from 7am-9am. On Tuesday and Thursdays the training is from 5pm-7pm. For training you will have access to boards from Starboard, SIC Maui and BIC Sport. Cost of the program includes- training plan, access to boards, pontoon use for long paddles and down winders.
Upgrades to the club include private coaching packages. Here we can really customize workouts that meet your goals as well as give you metrics that show improvement over time. We have customizable tools that monitor distance, speed, stroke per second, glide per stroke as well as cameras to take video for stroke analysis.

This video is about SUS stroke up Mount Tabor in Portland, OR.
The climb is short and steep plus the pavement is technically uneven.
This is a preliminary edit. Private viewing for the moment. I just wanted to get this up and show it around a bit. Over the next few days it will come out public. In 2015 SUSOIX will begin it's publication of a great deal of media for entertainment and education. 2015 is the first year of SUSOIX full factory gear plus racing and magazines.

Conquering Colorado Black Canyon
Hey Everybody! come join me and have some fun at The Black Canyon of the Gunnison!
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is a United States National Park located in western Colorado and managed by the National Park Service. There are 3 entrances to the park. The south rim entrance is located 15 miles (24 km) east of Montrose, while the north rim entrance is 11 miles (18 km) south of Crawford and is closed in the winter. The park contains 12 miles (19 km) of the 48-mile (77 km) long canyon of the Gunnison River. The national park itself contains the deepest and most dramatic section of the canyon, but the canyon continues upstream into Curecanti National Recreation Area and downstream into Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area. The canyon's name owes itself to the fact that parts of the gorge only receive 33 minutes of sunlight a day, according to The Black Canyon of the Gunnison. In the book, Vandenbusche states, Several canyons of the American West are longer and some are deeper, but none combines the depth, sheerness, narrowness, darkness, and dread of the Black Canyon. The Gunnison River drops an average of 34 feet per mile (6.4 m/km) through the entire canyon, making it the 5th steepest mountain descent in North America. By comparison, the Colorado River drops an average of 7.5 feet per mile through the Grand Canyon. The greatest descent of the Gunnison River occurs within the park at Chasm View dropping 240 feet per mile. The Black Canyon is so named due its steepness which makes it difficult for sunlight to penetrate into its depths. As a result, the canyon is often shrouded in shadow, causing the rocky walls to appear black. At its narrowest point the canyon is only 40 ft wide at the river.
The extremely narrow walls of the canyon
Overview Black Canyon with Gunnison River
The extreme steepness and depth of the Black Canyon formed as the result of several geologic processes acting together. The Gunnison River is primarily responsible for carving the canyon, though several other geologic events had to occur in order to form the canyon as it is seen today.

Driving through Fort Meade, Florida on US 17
Fort Meade is the oldest city in Polk County, dating its origins to 1849 when it was an old military road from Tampa (Fort Brooke) to Fort Pierce during the Indian wars. The 1880s business district was located on old Wire Street (now Broadway), which was a casualty of 4 devastating fires. Today, there are over 150 which are designated as landmarks.[4] In the 1890s the Fort Meade Street Railway operated a horse-drawn service in the town.
The earliest known burial is John I. Hooker (1821–1862) located in the town's Evergreen Cemetery. Fort Meade's Christ Church (Episcopal) located at 526 North Oak was built in 1889. It is a frame vernacular with Gothic Revival elements and was designed by architect J. H. Weddell. A minister by the name of C.E Butler had committed suicide at the church in 1894. Located next to Christ Church is the famous Rev. Wm James Reid House. Located within the historic district, the house was used for the HBO motion picture The Judgement featuring Blythe Danner, Keith Carradine and Jack Warden (1990).
Future Confederate General Stonewall Jackson was stationed at the fort in 1851. The town was burned by Union forces in 1864[5] and all of the original structures were destroyed, except the 2nd fort which was dismantled in the 1890s. Fort Meade has over 300 homes on the National Register of Historic Places and a handful that date to the late 1800s.

Review Paddel Board Rentals Mammoth Lakes | Footloose Sports | 760-934-2400
Footloose Sports Reviews
My daughter and I had never been Paddle Boarding. I called Footloose Sports and talked to one of the owners Andrea, she clued me in on what set up would be best for us and what the cost would be. I had her reserve a board for us the next day.
When we arrived we found out it was discount Thursday so we payed the half day rate for a full days rental. Our board and paddle was waiting at the front desk and ready to go.
One of the shop workers spent about 30 mins. with us going over how to get on the board and the best techniques for newbies.
