Cobá Mayan Ruins, a Gem hidden in the Jungle.
The ancestral city of Cobá, an archaeological site hidden deep inside the rainforest of the southeastern end of the Yucatan Peninsula. This quiet and peaceful archaeological site dates from 600-900 AD., at once it was the heart of a large metropolis composed of many cities from the Yucatan Peninsula.
We’ll explore these Mayan ruins riding bikes or hiking. Climbing the Nohoch Muul temple (the tallest pyramid of the state measuring 140 ft tall approx.), you will be able to admire the pristine beauty and immeasurable vastness of the surrounding subtropical jungle. These are the biggest ruins near Cancun, Mexico. They are also the most recently uncovered, and restoration is still taking place.
Mounting bikes provided. A taxi-tricycle is available for mom and babies. At times, there are also smaller bikes available for children ages 7-11 (otherwise, there are taxi tricycles for them too). This tour is one of the best family tours we offer. You can climb most of the buildings, visit an authentic Mayan village, and even swim in a genuine, freshwater Cenote.

Additional information:
Chichen Itza is an ancient city built by the Mayan civilization. The name means at the mouth of the well of the Itza referring to the people and their devotion to a massive sacred well (cenote) located within the city boundaries.
It is considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World since 2007. At these ruins, you will be amazed by magnificent temples such as the Kukulcan Pyramid, the Temple of the Columns and the Pok Ta Pok Ball Court. Dominating the center of Chichen Itza is the Kukulkan pyramid commonly known as El Castillo (the castle). The step pyramid was dedicated to Kukulkan (the Mayan name for Quetzalcoatl, the Mesoamerican deity whose name means feathered serpent).
It is a square-based pyramid that has stairs going up each of the four sides, leading to Kukulkan’s altar on the top. The building was designed so that at the equinoxes, the rising and setting of the sun casts a shadow in the shape of a plumed serpent that slithers down the northern side of the pyramid to the serpent’s head at the base.

Additional Information:
Tulum, a Testimony of the Descending God
Tulum (meaning wall in Mayan) located 128 km south of the city of Cancun; It´s believed that the original name was Zama (meaning sunrise) because a dramatic daily sunrise that you can enjoy thanks to its geographic location. Built initially as a port city overlooking the Caribbean, It´s majestic temples sit perched as a lighthouse on the shore. The important structures here include the Castillo, a former Temple and the Temple of the Frescoes with 13th-century wall paintings.
As you learn about each structure's purpose, the symbolism and the organization they functioned by, you’ll be surprised to find a Book of Mormon-like setting. This site is the “Garden Tomb” of Book of Mormon lands for us. At the Temple of the Frescoes, we see a depiction of “laying on of hands” on one fresco“ hands that are symbolically giving a blessing. You will also find a depiction of a woman giving birth to an “upside-down” God; God known as Itzamná, also known as the Descending God who many believe is a possible reference to the Savior Jesus Christ.
The highlight of the tour is a three-panel series on the three-tiered temple. The right-hand panel shows an upright God (which we interpret as God the Father). The center panel depicts an upside-down God (which we suggest as imagery of the Son of God, coming down to earth). The third panel is blank (which we propose might represent the Holy Ghost hence the lack of a Body).

Afterward, you’ll swim in a freshwater underground cave cenote.

Tulum Ruins and Horseback riding tour. An exciting combination of Sea and Land. Enjoy a remarkable visit at Tulum Ruins with our expert tour guides followed by a pleasant Horseback ride in the Jungle or on the beach!
On this amazing tour, you will be able to explore the beautiful Mayan ruins at Tulum and learn about this incredible civilization and their connection to the teachings of Book of Mormon. After, we will take to enjoy a horseback ride deep into the jungle, or upon request, to the beach.
Embrace this chance of a lifetime!
More information: Tulum Tulum is the home of the Descending God. The Descending God has been so named by the archaeological community because he is always shown with his feet in the air as if he is descending from the sky. Many people, including anthropologists, archaeologists, and guides have erroneously stated that the Descending God is found only in Tulum. This has been done out of ignorance – or in some cases, a pure desire to skirt the entire issue of the Descending God and what he potentially represents.
The Temple of the Descending God was built in alignment with the morning star, the planet Venus, and the sun to mark April 6th as the birthday of the Descending God. On that day, Venus can be seen rising into the night sky directly over the door of the temple, and sunlight forms a brilliant star that can be seen only on that day.
This is remarkably significant because Mayan Gods were known by the day on which they were born. About Horseback riding activity: We begin this activity at the Ranch not too far from Playa del Carmen, right off the highway from Maroma Beach. We ride on private property, on the jungle side in one of the few undeveloped areas left along the Riviera Maya.
Riders get individual instructions and a quick lesson in Western riding when they get on their horse. Safety is the best policy. Helmets are available and recommended, however, are optional for adult riders. If you always dreamt about riding in a lush jungle or on a beautiful beach, you will love this tour.

If you ask its not too hard to find an LDS guide that will take you around the various ruins in Mexico. There are some parallels with Christianity that are certainly compelling.
