THE BIG ODYSSEY - Peter OSullevan and Murray Walker chariot racing commentators Steve Nallon show
Follow on Twitter @SteveNallon - more BIG ODYSSEY videos at
In this video we see sporting celebrations with Peter O'Sullevan and Murray Walker. In Steve Nallon's brilliantly funny one-man show the impressionist, actor and comedian invites you to join him and his 'troupe of characters' on a remarkable journey. Using his vast array of voices, Steve has assembled one of the biggest stellar celebrity casts imaginable -- including Woody Allen, Dame Maggie Smith, David Beckham, Tony Blair, Patricia Routledge, Yoda, Ann Widdecombe, Bugs Bunny, Kenneth Williams, John Hurt, Barbra Streisand, Alan Bennett, Sir Lawrence Olivier, and many, many more -- to truly bring to life Homer's classic tale of love, laughter, sex and adventure.
Intelligent, witty, this is high class top shelf stuff. Three Weeks
Keep[s] his audience enthralled throughout...
an enormous wealth of uncanny impersonations up his sleeve Fest
If Steve Nallon were a Greek god -- and he says himself it would be pushing the magic of theatre to its limits -- he would be Proteus, the god who could change shape. The Stage
An hour of Nallon's voices is entertaining and speeds by. Evening News
Nallon has an enormous wealth of uncanny impersonations up his sleeve of everyone from Tony Blair and Ann Widdecombe to Robin Williams, Dame Edna and Yoda. And there are plenty of hearty chuckles to hold the attention. Fest
You don't have to have read the poem to understand what's going on, as Nallon provides an excellent running commentary, where his love of the epic comes shining through. Three Weeks
Steve Nallon's Big Odyssey is an amiable way to spend an hour with one of impressionism's old masters. The Stage
Nallon successfully marries high and popular culture. The audience is afforded the double pleasure of the impression, and seeing which star gets the spot... Nallon clearly enjoys puns on the star's names, as Penelope Keith is cast as Penelope, and Homer (Simpson) as Polyphemus (the Cyclops). Three Weeks
Steve Nallon's Big Odyssey is the story of the magical journey home of ancient Greek's most famous accidental tourist -- Odysseus. At the end of the Trojan War Odysseus set off for home, a journey that was to last ten years. Steve Nallon follows the original structure of Homer's Odyssey and begins the show with the gods releasing Odysseus for the last stage of that journey. But even the last leg has problems and Odysseus is forced to rest on the island of Phaeacia. It is here that Odysseus tells the tale of his long adventures -- how he encountered magical sea creatures, sexual temptresses, angry gods, one-eyed giants and the ghosts of his fellow Greek heroes of the Trojan War.
Steve Nallon's Big Odyssey was directed by Ed Curtis and was originally produced by Fat Bloke Productions (Andre Collier, Piers Torday and Neale Simpson). The tour management was Tristan Baker Productions.

10 Things You Did Not Know About Alnwick
For more information please visit
Alnwick and the 10 things you didn’t know
Alnwick dates back to about ad 600 and always thrived as an agricultural centre. The town centre hasn’t changed much but overall it has seen some growth with several housing estates and new factory and trading estate developments being built along the roads to the south.
The name Alnwick comes from the Old English wic ‘dairy farm, settlement’
Alnwick was formerly a rural and agrarian community, the town is a good and reasonable commute for people working in Morpeth and Newcastle upon Tyne so has a sizeable commuter population with some noteworthy employers also in the town
In 2018 Alnwick made it into the top ten list of locations in the North where ‘the quality of life is best’
The town’s greatest building by far is Alnwick Castle, which is one of the homes of the Duke of Northumberland and site of The Alnwick Garden, dominating the west of the town. Alnwick Castle was once the home of the most powerful medieval northern baronial family, the Earls of Northumberland. Between 1945 to 1975, it was the location of a teacher training college for young women and “mature students”. It is the second largest inhabited castle in England, after Windsor Castle. The castle is open to tourists from April to September, and the Gardens are open all year around. It has over 800,000 visitors a year and is famous for featuring in the Harry Potter movies. Built in the late 11th Century, the castle is now one of the region’s top visitor attractions. Children can dress up as Knights, hide in the stocks, take on Dragon Quest and even join a broomstick flying lesson in the grounds. You can visit in the warmer months and there is enough to keep you busy for most of the day. The castle is popular with film-makers and Blackadder, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Harry Potter have all been filmed there
You will find Alnwick Garden adjacent to Alnwick Castle. It is a beautiful place to go for all ages and there are often special events running at weekends and during school holidays. Their Garden of Fairy Tales trail is definitely one not to be missed by the kids. Children can enjoy the water features, tractors, maze, rose garden and much more. It is also home to its very own treehouse which is a magical place to dine with all the family
The town has a thriving playhouse, a multi-purpose arts centre, which stages theatre, dance, music, cinema, and visual arts productions
In 2003, the Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre replaced the old sports centre and was opened on the southern outskirts of the town. Alnwick boasts a wealth of sporting and leisure facilities, including football, cricket, rugby, rambling, rock climbing, water sports, cycling and horse riding and golfers can find thirteen golf courses within 30 minutes drive of the town
Bailiffgate Museum is an award-winning family-friendly museum that has been recognised as one of the top 25 places to visit in the whole country for early years
There are still lots of markets held in Alnwick Market Square offering fresh local produce, arts and crafts, jewellery, soft furnishings and household items, as well as a Farmers & Craft Market which is held on the last Friday of every month. There is loads to see and amazing local fresh produce to buy, as well as children’s entertainment
Alnwick Food Festival is held in September with 2 days of street food, local produce, chef demo’s and children’s entertainment and it really is a great event
So we hope you have you learnt some things you didn’t know about Alnwick from Ashington Removals and Storage, it really is packed full of history and charm with lots to do and see for all the family, so why not visit there this summer.
