Angkor Wat is one of my favorite tourist destination in cambodia, the amazing temples that remain standing and the ruins will still gives you an awe feeling. I tried to catch the sunrise, we left hotel early around 4;45 am, the sunrise over the angkor wat is so beautiful, but don't expect too much, your not the only one who want to see the spectacular sunrise in angkor wat. This is just a short video on what Angkor Wat looks inside and outside. I hope you'll like it.

The start of this video is at a lake in front of Angkor Thom south gate and bridge, where tourists can enjoy boat tour sightseeing the nature and the temple around Angkor Thom gate, taking pictures of the amazing temples and nature. Along this south gate bridge on the left are Angels line up pulling the tail of dragon and on the right are giant troop line up pulling the tail of dragon too. The Angkor Thom entrance gate is very small. Only one car can travel in to this gate. It's amazing art and ancient architecture by our Khmer ancestors for the next generation.

Deep in the forests of Cambodia’s Siem Reap province, an ancient stone city soars skyward. This is the sprawling complex of Angkor Archaeological Park. The site is located in the northwestern region of the country and is only four miles from the city of Siem Reap. The Khmer Empire’s various capitals thrived here from the 9th to 15th centuries, over an empire that stretched from Myanmar to Vietnam. Including forested areas and newly discovered “suburbs” Angkor covers more than 400 square miles—an area considerably larger than New York City’s five boroughs.
The massive Angkor Wat is the most famed of all Cambodia’s temples—it even appears on the nation’s flag. The 12th century “temple-mountain” was built as a spiritual home for the Hindu god Vishnu.
The temples of Angkor are architectural masterpieces laden with artistic treasures like the bas-relief galleries that tell enduring tales of Cambodian history and legend.
Angkor is as much about water as it is about stone—the site boasts an enormous system of artificial canals, dikes, and reservoirs. The West Baray reservoir is the largest of which at 5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide. These massive works skillfully harnessed river and rainwater to quench the thirst of some 750,000 residents in the world’s largest preindustrial city. That water also irrigated wealth-producing crops like rice, which served the Khmer as currency.
It’s still a mystery to scientists why the city’s rulers abandoned the site and resettled near the modern capital of Phenom Penh. Some scholars speculate that the downfall of this elaborate water system led to the end of Angkor.
The town of Siem Reap is the gateway to Angkor and is filled with lodging, dining, and tour-package options for all budgets. Those preferring to travel by boat can also make the trip from Phnom Penh in some five or six hours—about the same travel time as by road. The airport in Siem Reap has service to Phnom Penh and regular flights abroad to Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, and Laos. The airport in Siem Reap has service to the capital and regular flights to nearby countries.
Peak tourist season in Angkor is December and January, when rainfall is less likely and the climate is most kind. No matter the time of year, a visit to Angkor is sure to leave you awestruck.

Why Angkor Wat (Siem Reap) is a must see | CAMBODIA
Another one of our life bucket list stops the Angkor Wat temples in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Needless to say we had an absolutely incredible time visiting the Khmer Hindu and Buddhist temple ruins.
Things started off in Phnom Penh where we caught the Cambodia Post VIP Van for $11 USD each to get to Siem Reap. This is the site we booked our Cambodia Post VIP Van tickets from:
They have a variety of routes and departure times. We found Cambodia Post VIP Van to be a pretty cheap and convenient way getting from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, then using a tuk tuk for the remainder of our journey to get to our accommodation.
The ride from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap via Cambodia Post VIP Van took about 3 hours in total including a quick lunch stop and there were tuk tuks waiting around for us to get to our final destination (our Airbnb accommodation in Siem Reap) that ended up being just a few minutes drive away.
Our accommodation in Siem Reap was an urban studio located in the peaceful Kandal Village. The place was clean, stylish and comfortable. It's situated above Khmer 652 - a Cambodian restaurant that serves very delicious Khmer cuisine with super lovely staff. There are a handful of other cafes and restaurants nearby as well as local craft shops too.
Khmer 652 is owned by the Airbnb hosts so you also get a 10% discount for dining there. Our favourite meals during our time in Siem Reap were at Khmer 652 as well as Crane just at the back of their alley. We loved the location of our accommodation in Siem Reap because it's also in close walking distance to a supermarket, the river bank and the very lively Pub Street.
After a quick haircut and a browse around Kandal Village we got some rest before heading over to the Angkor Wat temple complex the next day. We opted to get a personal tour guide which turned out to be one of the best decisions ever.
Sarak was our tuk tuk driver and Angkor Wat travel guide, recommended to us from a fellow YouTuber friend. Sarak took us all around the amazing temples in the Angkor Wat temple complex, visiting the lesser-known and secret quiet areas (as well as the main temples too). He even took it upon himself to help us take some beautiful photos with our phone during our entire time together too. He was a driver, travel guide and photographer all in one!
Get in touch with Sarak:
meamsarak@gmail.com
+855 92 394 994
If you're wondering how to get to Angkor Wat, we definitely recommend going via tuk tuk with Sarak to enjoy the open air ride and if you want to go to the quieter spots like we did, simply let him know.
We bought a 3-day multi-pass to visit the Angkor Wat temple complex. First day we had Sarak and on our subsequent visits we had Mr Bean (Sarak's business partner) take us when we filmed Peter's Part 2 for his how to retire early series and on the final visit we went via Grab tuk tuk ourselves just to Angkor Wat. We were in Siem Reap visiting Angkor Wat during November. Btw, make sure to keep your Angkor Wat tickets with you as this gets checked at various entry points into the temple complex.
We visited the following temples:
- West Gate
- Angkor Thom
- Preah Khan
- Ta Prohm (also known as the Tomb Raider temple)
- Bayon (and then finally...)
- Angkor Wat
We also enjoyed a breath taking sunset away from the crowds at Srah Sang.

Angkor Wat Temple Hindu History | Siem Reap Cambodia Angkor Wat Documentary
Angkor Wat (Khmer: អង្គរវត្ត or Capital Temple) is a temple complex inCambodia and the largest religious monument in the world. It was first aHindu and later a Buddhist temple. It was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yaśodharapura (Khmer:យសោធរបុរៈ, present-day Angkor), the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Breaking from the Shaiva tradition of previous kings, Angkor Wat was instead dedicated to Vishnu. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious center since its foundation. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol ofCambodia,[1] appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors.
Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: thetemple-mountain and the later galleried temple, based on early Dravidian architecture, with key features such as the Jagati. It is designed to representMount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mythology: within a moat and an outer wall 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the centre of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat is oriented to the west; scholars are divided as to the significance of this. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs, and for the numerous devatas adorning its walls.
The modern name, Angkor Wat, means Temple City or City of Temples in Khmer; Angkor, meaning city or capital city, is a vernacular form of the word nokor (នគរ), which comes from the Sanskrit word nagara (नगर).[2] Watis the Khmer word for temple grounds (Sanskrit: वाट vāṭa enclosure).[3]

Siem Reap Province Tour 01
I got up in the morning at Home-Sweet-Home guest house in Krong Siem Reap. I walked to breakfast and get ready before my friend pick me up to visit the temples. I walked into a small restaurant next to my guest house. They have chicken & pork porridge, beef noodle soup, grilled pork rice, bread with beef stew. I ordered grilled pork with rice set for just 4500riel (USD1.125). My friend just came when I finished my breakfast. I got on his nice car heading out north to Angkor Wat. We didn't go to Angkor Wat temple but we will visit another temple at Angkor. We stopped at an ancient temple and walked into, climb up the to the top and look around. It's a beautiful ancient temple during the Angkor era at Siem Reap province in Cambodia.
In this video, i used GoPro Hero 5 Black, iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, DJI Phantom 3 Standard.

Siem Reap - Cambodia (Dec 2018) by KOA
Siem Reap - Cambodia (Dec 2018) by KOA
A must destination for many of us. Not an amazing place for kids but truly historical and you got to admit this one of the 7th wonders are really top of the world. Siem Reap is pretty small and temples focused destination and less than a week exploration is fairly enough for quick tour around Siem Reap and its wonders.
To cut short, not many places of interest but you got to chose the best place to stay which is at least not more than 10km away from Angkor Wat. We choose J7 hotel due to its high rating and humble hospitality. Shopping mall, 24-hour mart and food centres were just less than 5 minutes walking distance and 15 minutes taxi ride to Angkor Wat from our hotel make ease for other day plans. Apart from Angkor Wat, there were multiple temples but you should choose wisely and the main would be Angkor Thom, Baphoun Temple and Ta Prom Temple. Remember Tomb Raiders II :)... You won't stand a chance to missed all these major movie scenes.
Angkor Wat is the most famous ancient temple site in Cambodia. Visiting the ancient Angkorian temples is the reason most visitors come to Siem Reap. Expect to burnt at minimum USD50 per person including entrance to all major temples and half day taxi ride and small food bites with couples of beers or coconut to chill your body under the hottest land in South East Asia. If you don't know how to purchase the ticket, no worries that all ticket whether online or manually, can only be purchase at only 1 office in the city which cost USD37 for 1 day or USD72 for 3 consecutive days entrance. You need to be present personally at the counter and that 's the law. Therefore, please hire a taxi driver who will guide the purchase and include driving you along other temples apart from Angkor Wat. It's not necessary to spent further for personal tour guide if you did a pre-visit to their National Museum which only cost USD12. You can do this a day prior to the temples visits and I'm pretty sure your brain will be equipped with basic ideas of the Angkorian temples.
Apart from temples, do visit their Fishing Village known as Kompong Phluk with estimated 900 family members living on floating house. You will be guided on a speed boat for couple of hours and advance ticket can be purchased at USD27. Not much to explore but you will be lucky enough to see a truly undeveloped civilians with high poverty and yet they smile at you all the times.
Other light activity such as Smile of Angkor, their night live theatre cost at minimum of USD35 which includes buffet dinner would be perfect for a last night adventure, before returning back to hometown. The show last for 75 minutes and performers are well trained professionally .
Do enjoy some Cambodian foods especially their AMOK, a coconut based steam dumplings filled with fish meats or chicken and covered with banana leaves. In Malaysia, we called them Otak Otak and direct translate to English would be Brainy Brainy???
Before returning back to hometown, don't forget to help the people of Cambodia by buying some nice local made clothes which is so cheap...USD2 each. For me, i got myself more than 10 pieces of clothes and one amazing Angkor Wat oil paintings.
Good luck and enjoy you upcoming destination!
