Welcome to Harrisburg, PA The Capital City
If you're like me, when you think of Pennsylvania, what cities come to mind? For me, it's always been Philadelphia & Pittsburgh. Well, a new city has climbed my rankings of one of the nicest cities I've visited and is most definitely right up at the top in the State of Pennsylvania! Harrisburg is a city of endless architectural beauty and it's location along the gorgeous Susquehanna River make this place a definite hidden gem!

AVR-3 Washington, PA, On the Grade to Brady Tunnel
AVR-3 has just crossed Wade Ave and is passing the former Lemoyne Ave Bridge (now gone) on the grade out of Washington. The train had some trouble here at this same spot last week in the rain with a 22 car train with 14 full gondolas. Not a problem tonight but you can hear the engines working. The engineer got me real good with the horn, as you will see the camera shakes. This was the B&O's Wheeling Pittsburgh through route, also know as The Pike which used to see up to 80 car trains pulled by 5 or 6 locomotives. Must have been a sight.

The owners have since been involved with extensive clean up and repair work to get the building back into shape. They plan to reopen soon, but have yet to announce an official date.
