The Mattancherry Palace is a Portuguese palace popularly known as the Dutch Palace, in Mattancherry, Kochi, in the Indian state of Kerala which features Kerala murals depicting portraits and exhibits of the Rajas of Kochi. Portraits of the Rajas of Cochin, from 1864 onwards, are displayed in what was once the Coronation Hall. These were painted by local artists in western style. The ceiling of the hall is decorated with floral designs in wood craft. Amongst the other exhibits in the palace are an ivory palanquin, a howdah, royal umbrellas, ceremonial dress used by the royalty, coins, stamps and drawings. .
In 1951, Mattancherry Palace was restored and declared a centrally protected monument. The palace is already undergoing a second restoration by the Archaeological Survey of India. The restoration made the historical structure to a building and a museum of an international standard, preserving its originality, yet highlighting the important facets. The palace is an architectural masterpiece showcasing the blend between colonial and Kerala architecture.

This is about a church which withstood the test of time and has today become an irreplaceable historic symbol of Fort Kochi
St. Francis Church, in Fort Kochi was originally built in 1503, is one of the oldest European churches in India. The Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama died in Kochi in 1524 when he was on his third visit to India. His body was originally buried in this church, but after fourteen years his remains were removed to Lisbon
Towards the entrance in front of St Francis Church Francisco de Almeida, the Portuguese viceroy, was allowed, in 1506, by the Raja of Cochin to reconstruct wooden buildings in stone and masonry. The wooden church was rebuilt, presumably by the Franciscan friars, with bricks and mortar and a tiled roof was erected. In 1516, the new church was completed and it was dedicated to St. Anthony.
The Church was declared a protected monument in April 1923 under the Protected Monuments Act of 1904. As a protected monument it is under the Archaeological Survey of India but is owned by the Kochi diocese of Church of South India. It has services on Sundays and commemorative days. On weekdays it is kept open for visitors.

This is a Documentary created by me as part of my college project. The Documentary is about Puthen Bungalow Palace, a beautiful specimen of architecture in its heyday, which has gone into pieces due to apathy. This is an investigative story on what has led to the palace's ruin.
The Puthen Bungalow Palace at Tripunithura was an architectural splendor. For long it stood as the proud symbol of the erstwhile Cochin State. Official apathy and a lack of genuine concern for heritage conservation had today left this magnificent structure in ruins.
