Argo Canoe Livery (Kayaking in Ann Arbor, Michigan)
Fall Colors Kayaking - Huron River - Ann Arbor Michigan
Make sure to watch till the end for a surprise wildlife encounter :) In this video my wife and I kayak the Huron River in Ann Arbor Michigan during the beautiful colors of fall. This trip was taken on October 20th, 2015. We launched from the Barton Nature Area in Ann Arbor, Michigan and took out at Gallop Park on the other side of Ann Arbor.
Just past Argo Park we entered the Argo cascades which the town built to help boaters avoid a former portage around the dam there. The cascades offer 9 drops in the river that make the river very fun. It is recommended that those who go through the cascades can swim and have experience paddling as boats can easily get swamped from the rapids. Both my wife and I got wet, but didn't tip.
This river flows near the University of Michigan campus, and several parts of campus can be seen as well as the University of Michigan hospital.
This was a beautiful paddle trip and I highly recommend you look into it if you are ever in the area.

Gallup Park is a 69-acre park and is Ann Arbor's most popular recreation area. It is located along the Huron River and Geddes Pond with scenic walkways that traverse small islands with bucolic pedestrian bridges. The park contains two playgrounds, a canoe livery, picnic areas and grills scattered throughout the park, two picnic shelters, open field for play, and over three miles of asphalt trails that are popular for biking, rollerblading, walking and running.

Canoeing and Kayaking in Michigan
I've been traveling to Michigan in the last days in the beautiful city of Ann Arbor. What an incredible place! You get to see all these interesting views along the river and take pictures of wildlife.
I rented a canoe from the Argo Natural Park and started paddling on the Huron River. I went through the awesome Argo Cascades and ended up in a series of ponds where I discovered turtles, wild ducks, swans and all kinds of fish. Then the journey ended at Gallup Park after 4 miles of fun and exploring! A shuttle van was provided by the renting company, that brought us back to the starting point! I then got on the next train to Chicago and slept the whole way home!

Argo Canoe Christening
It's official! The canoe is completed and its name declared. A group of friends and supporters gathered at the Corni Beach to official declare the name of this canoe to be Argo! Argo means Swift in greek. It was the name of the boat sailed by the legendary Jason and the Argonauts to complete their quest for the golden fleece. In the Argo Canoe's bow is said to contain a magical piece of duck tape to prevent damage and protect its crew. The god parents of the Argo were named as Tom and Amy of Washburn and Ricardo and Ann from the Town of Russell. Here is a quick compilation of the Naming ceremony and the fun that was had by all. Thanks to the many backers and supporters! I'm holding on to the tail of a dream and it just got a huge boost! - Thanks Dave Doering (Sunridge Moving Pictures)
Gallup Park Canoe Livery
Having fun with Paloma the DJI Phantom 2 Vision+. It was a beauty of a day Sunday, June 22, 2014. I'm getting braver flying over bodies of water. The previous day I was playing a gig with Lady Sunshine and the X Band at Weko Beach in Bridgman, MI and wow was I nervous about flying over Lake Michigan. I hope you enjoy the view and i think I will be getting on a fun pedal boat in the future. If Paloma landed in the water here at least I could get a boat and paddle over to where she went down. I'll get the Weko Beach video out soon...
