Auckland Town Hall - Jump On John
I sometimes have a hard time getting someone to jump on me. I had already been turned down here at the town hall, then I asked a group of teen girls which proved to be a winning formula as they egged each other on until one girl jumped.

Snow in Auckland, New Zealand!! a once in 50-year event 15 August 2011
A small amount of snow has fallen in Auckland as a 'one in 50 year' polar blast spreads across New Zealand.
This video shot in Auckland Central Business District with Auckland Town Hall seen in the background.
Day spent around Auckland and the city center New Zealand
Traveled to New Zealand, and landed in Auckland. I spent the first day just roaming around Auckland city center. Auckland is New Zealand's biggest city population wise, more than 1 million out of the 4 million people live here. This is like any other big cities out there. Sadly I found Auckland to be quite boring. The good thing is that it's small enough that you can walk to the harbor and to Aotea square. The most prominent landmark here is the Sky Tower. I skipped that one and didn't even visit. If you only have one day in Auckland, then that's good enough, but try to not spend it in the city center. Absolutely a waste of time.
The Civic, Auckland, New Zealand
The Civic is internationally significant as the largest surviving atmospheric cinema in Australasia and as the first purpose-built cinema of this type in New Zealand.

Clock tower, Auckland University campus
University of Auckland, City campus
The University of Auckland is the largest university in New Zealand, located in the country's largest city, Auckland. It is the highest-ranked university in the country, being ranked 83rd worldwide in the 2019/20 QS World University Rankings.
The University of Auckland is spread across four main campuses in the City Centre, Epsom, Grafton and Tāmaki. This is a walking tour around city campus.
The information below is from university website
The University of Auckland is spread across four main campuses in the City Centre, Epsom, Grafton and Tāmaki.
The ClockTower is the University of Auckland’s most iconic building. The 54-metre tower, faced with Mount Somers stone, was inspired by the famous Tom Tower of Christ Church, Oxford.
For many years the building housed all Arts departments, Architecture, Law, Music and the Library as well as the University Hall. The rear wing provided extremely limited student amenities until the Student Union Building was opened in 1968.
Between 1985 and 1988, the main wing was renovated, strengthened and cleaned, regaining the whiteness which originally suggested the popular name of the wedding cake.
This major reconstruction work earned an award from the Institute of Architects.
The building now houses Student Administration and the Council Room.

Auckland Town Hall Wrapped 2009
PDA proposes wrapping the Auckland Town Hall (Christo-style) as a gesture of purification - readying the building for rebirth as a symbol of a unified Auckland, reasserting this monument as a symbol of democracy. This is the first image that we have prepared which encapsulates our initial idea. Watch this space for more developments to come. You comments please
Precedents for 'wrapping' include the Wrapped Reichstag project for Berlin (1971-95). The Reichstag was wrapped by Christo and Jeanne-Claude - symbolically preparing the building for a reunified Germany
This influenced the selection accompanying music, namely Richard Wagner - The Ride of the Valkyries (Die Walkure) - reputed to be among Hitler's favorites, at least within urban mythology.
(Interestingly Michael (S.) Cullen was cited as a part of the team of artists.) Maybe the local Michael Cullen will be able to be involved it this possible project, given his recent retirement for central government.
Christo and Jeanne-Claude note that throughout the history of art, the use of fabric has been a fascination for artists. From the most ancient times to the present, fabric, forming folds, pleats and draperies, is a significant part of paintings, frescoes, reliefs and sculptures made of wood, stone and bronze. The use of fabric on the Reichstag follows the classical tradition. Fabric, like clothing or skin, is fragile, it translates the unique quality of impermanence.
