Auckland – The most populous of New Zealand’s cities with the attractions to match. Check out the best things to do in the city and start planning a trip of your own!
When ready, browse vacation packages to Auckland:
An #Auckland #vacation leaves visitors spoilt for choice for activities. The city marries modern art and buildings with nature, and the surrounding region has plenty of its own attractions to offer.
Auckland is called the City of Sails, boasting more boats per capita than anywhere else in the world. Nestled between two natural harbors, it’s no wonder residents and visitors alike enjoy spending time on the water.
Just outside the city are rolling hills, jagged cliffs, and forests with towering treetops. Walk through the Hauna Ranges and be rewarded with the Hunua Falls, an impressive waterfall rushing over a volcanic edge.
Adventure-seekers must head to the downtown Sky Tower before leaving New Zealand. This is the tallest man-made building in the entire country – it offers a breathtaking base jump from the top and an observation platform for views of the city and harbor.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Auckland - City Video Guide
Welcome to Auckland. The native Māori people named the area Tāmaki Makaurau, meaning desired by a hundred men. The attraction is still there today, because Auckland is now the most populous city in New Zealand.
In the City of Sails you are always surrounded by water, as becomes clear when you stand on the top of the top of Mount Eden. A nice inner-city beach is Mission Bay.
Other visitor attractions in Auckland include the stately Auckland War Memorial Museum in Auckland Domain park. Daredevils can base jump from the Sky Tower. Children will love the Rainbow's End theme park and the Auckland Zoo. Auckland has many diverse neighborhoods, such as hip Ponsonby and laid-back Devonport. From the city, you can set sail to the forest reserve of Rangitoto Island and Waiheke island with its wineries.
Auckland gives access to the scenic coastline of the country's volcanic North Island. On the other side of the Waitakere Ranges regional parkland is Piha Beach.
The city's unique Māori influence combined with its comfortable urban facilities and rugged nature make it worthwhile to travel to the far southwest of the Pacific Ocean to see Auckland.

My name is Julien Calabro, I was born in the south of France and I strarted to travel around Europe with my family when I was 12 years old. I enjoyed it so much my only thoughts were about travel. At 21 I moved to Paris where I lived by myself for about 5 years. During that time, the pace of my travels has very rapidly increased. I have been to New York, and Canada, then for the first time in Asia in 2012. I also went to Morocco in Africa in 2014. After all these trips my life has been changed a lot and I feeled depressed when I was working in France. At 27 years old I took a radical decision and left my job, my flat and then, my country... I moved to Sydney in Australia for about 2 years, and then now, in Auckland, the biggest city of New Zealand. I don't know what I will do and where I will be tomorrow, but I love my random life around the world.

We went to Auckland domain to see the cherry blossom trees. Auckland Domain is the oldest park in Auckland and is located in the central city. The two main popular attractions located in Auckland domain are the Auckland Museum and the Winter Garden.

The Auckland Domain is Auckland's oldest park, and at 75 hectares one of the largest in the city. Located in the central suburb of Grafton, the park contains all of the explosion crater and most of the surrounding tuff ring of the Pukekawa volcano.
The park is home to one of Auckland's main tourist attractions, the Auckland War Memorial Museum, which sits prominently on the crater rim (tuff ring). Several sports fields occupy the floor of the crater, circling to the south of the cone, while the rim opposite the Museum hosts the cricket pavilion and Auckland City Hospital. The Domain Wintergardens, with two beautiful glass houses, lie on the north side of the central scoria cone. The fernery has been constructed in an old quarry in part of the cone. The duck ponds lie in the northern sector of the explosion crater, which is breached to the north with a small overflow stream.

Devonport - A Relaxed Bayside Village of Auckland
Devonport is a relaxed bayside village with upscale cafes and seafood restaurants, as well as classic Kiwi pubs and fish and chips shops. Small boutiques and art dealerships line Victoria Road, while Devonport and Cheltenham beaches draw crowds. The volcanic cone of North Head has harbour views and underground army tunnels. Hikers also climb Mount Victoria, passing reservoir vents decorated as mushrooms.

More information on the Takapuna area from Wikipedia:
Takapuna is a central, coastal suburb of North Shore, Auckland, located in the northern North Island of New Zealand, at the beginning of a south-east-facing peninsula forming the northern side of the Waitematā Harbour.
While very small in terms of population, it was the seat of the North Shore City Council before amalgamation into Auckland Council in 2010 and contains substantial shopping and entertainment areas, being considered the CBD of the North Shore.
The population of the census area of Takapuna Central was 2,811 in the 2006 census, an increase of 291 from 2001. The census area does not include some streets to the west of the CBD which are often considered as part of Takapuna.
Takapuna is located on the isthmus of a peninsula which extends south into the northern waters of the Waitemata at the harbour's eastern end. As such, the suburb has a coastline on Shoal Bay, an arm of the Waitemata to the southwest, as well as having a coast on the Hauraki Gulf to the northeast.
The northern end of the suburb is dominated by the large volcanic crater of Lake Pupuke. Some points in Takapuna are less than 500 metres from all three of these bodies of water. The Hauraki coastline includes a kilometre long crescent shaped beach (Takapuna Beach) which is a popular recreation area.
To the southeast of Takapuna lies the six-kilometre-long peninsula which contains the suburbs of Belmont and Devonport. To the west lie the suburbs of Hillcrest and Northcote. The suburb of Milford lies to the north, on the far shore of Lake Pupuke.
The Māori place name Takapuna originally referred to a freshwater spring that flowed from the base of North Head into a swamp behind Cheltenham Beach.
In 1841 the wife of Eruera Maihi Patuone sold 9500 acres of Auckland's North Shore to the Crown. Referred to as Takapuna Parish, the North Shore was surveyed and subdivided in 1844.
In 1851 Governor Grey gifted back to Patuone 110 acres between the inlet beside Barry's Point Road and Takapuna Beach to use until his death (1872). This area included a Māori settlement known as Waiwharariki, on the small Shoal Bay headland now crossed by Esmonde Road.
The earliest subdivisions of farmland for suburban development were the Hurstmere estate in 1886 and the Pupuke Estate in 1889. The Takapuna and Milford Beach areas, as well as the land surrounding Lake Pupuke soon became popular spots for wealthy businessmen building summer homes to entertain in a rural surrounding, and eventually, many moved here permanently, commuting to work in Auckland via ferry.
A local history archive is maintained by the New Zealand Collection of Takapuna Public Library. It includes an index of the local newspapers, archives, photographs, oral histories, and historical material relating to Takapuna.
The Takapuna Beach area is a nightlife hub and boutique shopping centre of the North Shore, having many bars, restaurants, cafes and shops.
The Block NZ's first season took place in Takapuna. Shania Twain's 2003 music video for When You Kiss Me was also shot in Takapuna.
As a recognised area by council for future intensification, the beachfront will become the backyard for the estimated 15,000 residents and 15,000 employees who will inhabit Takapuna by 2040.
The area has potential in its central business area and wider precincts to further develop into the southern hub of the North Shore.
Hope you guys learnt something new - catch you soon :)
