The Sydney Hospital is a major hospital in Sydney, Australia, located on Macquarie Street in the Sydney central business district. It is the oldest hospital in Australia, dating back to 1788, and at its current location since 1811. It first attained the name Sydney Hospital in 1881.
Currently the hospital comprises 113 inpatient beds. Specialist services attract patients from all over New South Wales. It specialises in ophthalmology and hand surgery and is a referral hospital for patients requiring these services. However, it does also house a rudimentary 6-bed Emergency Department.
Sydney Hospital is associated with the University of New South Wales through its own association with St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney but is also associated with Sydney University through the Department of Ophthalmology.
The General Post Office (abbreviation GPO) is a landmark building in Sydney. It is located at the western end of Martin Place (No. 1 Martin Place), between George and Pitt Streets. The main facade stretches some 100 metres down Martin Place. In 1996, as part of the disbursement of Australia Post assets by the Federal Government of Australia, the building was sold to private owners. It was subsequently refurbished and now houses shops, restaurants, hotel rooms, and the lobby of two adjoining tower blocks. Designed by colonial architect James Barnet, the building was constructed in stages from 1866 to 1891.

On this 2019 video i am walking in Canberra in Australia 2019 showing Canberra ACT Australian capital territory shops facilities with food & drink facilities #australia #canberra #ACT
Canberra is the capital city of Australia. Founded following the federation of the colonies of Australia as the seat of government for the new nation, it is Australia's largest inland city and the eighth-largest city overall. The city is located at the northern end of the Australian Capital Territory; 280 km (170 mi) south-west of Sydney and 660 km (410 mi) north-east of Melbourne.
On 1 January 1901, federation of the colonies of Australia was achieved. Section 125 of the new Australian Constitution provided that land, situated in New South Wales and at least 100 miles (160 km) from Sydney, would be ceded to the new federal government. Following discussion and exploration of various areas within New South Wales, the Seat of Government Act 1908 was passed in 1908 which specified a capital in the Yass-Canberra region. The land was transferred to the Commonwealth by New South Wales in 1911 creating the Australian Capital Territory, two years prior to the capital city being founded and formally named as Canberra in 1913.
It is unusual among Australian cities, being an entirely planned city outside of any state, similar to Washington, D.C. in the United States or Brasília in Brazil. Following an international contest for the city's design, a blueprint by American architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin was selected and construction commenced in 1913. The Griffins' plan featured geometric motifs such as circles, hexagons and triangles, and was centred on axes aligned with significant topographical landmarks in the Australian Capital Territory. The city's design was influenced by the garden city movement and incorporates significant areas of natural vegetation.
As the seat of the government of Australia, Canberra is home to many important institutions of the federal government, national monuments and museums. This includes Parliament House, the official residence of the monarch's representative the Governor-General, the High Court and numerous government departments and agencies. It is also the location of many social and cultural institutions of national significance such as the Australian War Memorial, the Australian National University, the Royal Australian Mint, the Australian Institute of Sport, the National Gallery, the National Museum and the National Library. The city is also home to many important institutions of the Australian Defence Force including the Royal Military College Duntroon and the Australian Defence Force Academy. It also hosts the majority of foreign embassies in Australia as well as regional headquarters of many international organisations, not-for-profit groups, lobbying groups and professional associations.
Canberra does not have a local council or city government like other Australian cities. The Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly performs the roles of both a city council for the city and a territory government for the rest of the Australian Capital Territory. The vast majority of the population of the Territory reside in Canberra though and the city is therefore the primary focus of the ACT Government. However, the federal government maintains authority over the Territory and may overturn local laws. It still maintains control over the area known as the Parliamentary Triangle through the National Capital Authority.
At the 2016 census, the population of Canberra was 395,790. As the city has a high proportion of public servants, the Commonwealth Government contributes the largest percentage of gross territory product and is the largest single employer in Canberra, although not the majority employer. Compared to the national averages, the unemployment rate is lower and the average income higher; tertiary education levels are higher, while the population is younger.
Katoomba, New South Wales, Australia
Katoomba is the largest and best-known town in the Blue Mountains region of the Australian state of New South Wales. Katoomba is located 106 km to the west of Sydney and lies 1,017 m above sea level.
Katoomba developed as a popular mountain resort town in the early 20th century, a process aided by the advent of regular train services along the current line. The town reached an early heyday in the period between the wars, attested to today by the numerous examples of art deco architecture and shop fronts along the main street of the town. Today it serves as the main base for the mountains. It has the most shops with all the supplies you need, tourist offices, motels, restaurants and even some nightlife. However, it has lost the quaint village charm to Leura, its neighbour.
The Scenic Skyway and Scenic Railway have been part of a visit to the Blue Mountains for as long as any Sydneysider can remember. The scenic railway is closed for renovations, and will be replaced entirely on new track. The scenic railway is a really steep caged railway, and gives quite a thrill. The front seat is best if you can get it. The scenic cableway is much more sedate as descends down into the forest, and although it is common to do the railway down and the cableway back, if you want to enjoy the ride and not just the view, you'll have more fun just taking the railway both directions. Down in the valley you can walk on boardwalks along in the rainforest, the avalanche and see some mining remnant artifacts. There can be crowds on weekends, but you'll still get on okay.
Bushwalking in the valleys, including longer walks to the Ruined Castle and Mount Solitary. Watch out for large, noisy lyrebirds scratching up food on the ground. If you're not prepared for bushwalking in the mountains, stick to walks along the cliff base, or connect with a guide. Good shoes, a bottle of water and some sun protection are highly recommended.

Sydney Architecture.Contrast.
The architecture in Sydney have quiet a lot of interesting contrast.
Sydney, Australia
Sydney is the Harbour City. It is the largest, oldest and most cosmopolitan city in Australia with an enviable reputation as one of the world's most beautiful and liveable cities. Brimming with history, nature, culture, art, fashion, cuisine, design, it is set next to miles of ocean coastline and sandy surf beaches. The city is also home to the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, two of the most iconic structures on the planet.
Sydney is a major global city and one of the most important cities for finance in the Asia-Pacific. Sydney hosted the 2000 Olympic Games, and continues to attract and host large international events. The city is surrounded by nature and national parks, which extend through the suburbs and right to the shores of the harbour.
Sydney is the oldest European settlement in Australia, having been founded as a British penal colony on 26 January 1788 by Arthur Phillip (now celebrated as Australia Day, the national public holiday, with major festivities around the city and the Harbour). The settlement was named Sydney after Thomas Townshend, 1st Viscount Sydney, who was the British Home Secretary at that time.
Sydney is one of the most cosmopolitan cities on the planet, with one third of its population born overseas. European settlement rapidly displaced the Aboriginal people of the Sydney area with colonists largely coming from England, Ireland and Scotland. The Australian goldrush attracted more immigrants, including a significant number of Chinese, with about one in six Australians with convict descent also having some Chinese ancestry.
Sydney's skyline is large and widely recognisable. Sydney also possesses a wide diversity of modern and old architectural styles. They range from the simple Francis Greenway's Georgian buildings to Jorn Utzon's Expressionist Sydney Opera House. Sydney also has many Victorian buildings, such as the Sydney Town Hall and the Queen Victoria Building. The most architecturally significant structures include the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Skyscrapers in Sydney are also large and modern. The tallest building is the 300m tall Sydney Tower, seen rising clearly above the rest of the Sydney skyline.

Keep Architecture Open
Donate Now and Be Rewarded!
Over the past 10 years, we have opened close to two hundred homes to the public; held over a thousand walks and invited Australian and international speakers to openly share their designs to combined Australian audiences reaching the thousands.
'How do we create an environment and a demand for design excellence?'
Architecture and design is around us every day and affects the way we work, the way we act and react. We believe that people should have the opportunity to experience first hand the value of good design.
All our events have been made possible by our team of volunteers, with the support of our members and event partners. However, after the global financial crisis, we have not been able to secure a major financial sponsor as we did in the first 5 years. This has impacted on our ability to run as many events as we wanted and also stopped us from expanding our program interstate.
This is why we believe this Pozible campaign will help to Keep Architecture Open for you!
(
We're reaching out to you because we are hoping to raise over $15,000. This will help us continue to hold walks, talks and tours in 2014 in NSW and make them available to more people. However, our ambition does not stop in NSW! If we can raise $25000, we will be able to set up and train volunteers in another state in order to start our program there. If the total reaches $35000, you will see us setting up and running a program in a third State!
In appreciation of your help, we have put together some great rewards for your support of the Keep Architecture Open campaign! (
