TREVELIN DAY TRIP: A Foodie Day in a Welsh Town in Patagonia, Argentina
Today, we’re taking you on another day trip here in Patagonia, this time to visit the town of Trevelin. If you’ve been following along, then you probably know we stumbled upon a series of Welsh towns in Argentina and we couldn’t resist visiting them. Dragons and afternoon tea may have been part of the draw, but we were also very curious to learn what life was like for the first Welsh settlers who arrived in these lands. So today, we’re introducing you to yet another Welsh town. This is Trevelin which translates to ‘mill town’.
First things first, we visited a Welsh tea house, because hello, we love food! Thankfully this place does serve afternoon tea in the middle of the morning, so that worked out well.
We then walked along the Percy River, walked around the town where the streets are lined with rose bushes, and we also visited the Andean Mill Museum, which showcases objects that were part of daily life for the Welsh settlers of Patagonia. You’ll see furniture, home decorations, musical instruments, clothes, random household items, and even farming equipment.
We then grabbed a late lunch at Los Troncos, which specializes in Argentine BBQ, and because that apparently wasn't enough food, we ended up in Trevelin's artisanal market where they had homemade cakes! We couldn't resist getting a slice of the walnut cake with dulce de leche. It was amazing! The day really turned into a bit of a foodie tour.
That was our day trip to Trevelin from Esquel. Super easy and worth the journey. We hope you guys enjoyed watching along and we’ll see you soon with more videos from Patagonia!

TREVELIN DAY TRIP: A Foodie Day in a Welsh Town in Patagonia, Argentina:
Hey guys! We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world.
We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country.
We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey's parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba.
While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina.
Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival.
We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey's dad again.
To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country.
Overall our Argentina travel series explores cities, small towns that are off-the-beaten-path, and scenic attractions with a strong emphasis on Argentina cuisine and local culture.

Spotting SEA LIONS in Peninsula Valdes on a Boat Tour | Chubut, Argentina
For our last day on the Valdes Peninsula, we joined an excursion to visit Caleta Valdes and Punta Delgada, two destinations which are said to be great for wildlife spotting! First up, we kicked off the day with a boat tour to the loberia, which is a rocky outcrop where you can see sea lions.
Because we visited in February, there were lots of newborn pups playing and clumsily climbing around the larger sea lions; it was so fun to just sit back and watch them be. We also saw the alpha male strutting on his flippers, body arched upwards, observing his harem and eventually approaching a female. It was quite the scene and camera shutters were going off like crazy!
From there, we continued to Caleta Valdes, which is often referred to as a 'geographic accident'; it’s basically a long and narrow body of water that’s been naturally closed off by a strip of land, with only a small opening connecting it to the sea. We got to see Magellanic penguins here, who had built their nests on a rather steep hill!
We then continued to Punta Delgada Lightouse, a former post office and military building turned sheep farm, countryside hotel and restaurant. We had some empanadas and lamb stew for lunch (all very tasty!), before continuing on to a beach location where we watched as elephant seals made their way back to sea.
This was our final tour with Argentina Vision ( and then it was back to Puerto Madryn!

BEACH TOWN IN PATAGONIA | Visiting Puerto Piramides on Valdes Peninsula | Chubut, Argentina
In today's travel video, we explore the Patagonian beach town of Puerto Piramides, which is the only town located within the Valdes Peninsula. The town has a population of just over 700, though for a few months of the year, the whale population far exceeds the number of inhabitants on land! We had one full day to explore Puerto Piramides, so we spent it: watching the sunrise up on the cliffs, hiking out to the lobería where we saw sea lions, eating a delicious seafood pasta at La Covacha, strolling down the colourful Avenue of the Whales, and enjoying our stay at the Oceano Patagonia eco-hotel. We hope you enjoy this little taste of a beach town in Patagonia and we'll see you tomorrow with more adventures around the peninsula!

Visiting the SLEEPIEST TOWN IN PATAGONIA + Our Failed Travel Day in DOLAVON, Argentina
Come join us as we continue our travels in Argentina by visiting the sleepiest town in Patagonia on a total failed day of travel in Dolavon, Chubut. Dolavon, which translates to meadow on the river, is a tiny town with Welsh roots in the province of Chubut located nearby Gaiman and Trelew.
On the particular day we visited, on a Monday slightly after tourist season in Argentina, basically the entire town was closed for business. After walking back and forth multiple times we had many failed attempts trying to visit restaurants, bakeries, museums and other attractions. However, this was all part of the misadventure, and sometimes bad travel days make for distinct memories, so we tried to make the most of our experience by befriending all of the local friendly dogs, grabbings some empanadas and having an alfajor and drink at a gas station.
If you're thinking of visiting the town of Dolavon we highly suggest coming on Wednesday through Saturday when more businesses are likely to be open. All in all though, it was a fun failed travel day.
