Kadoka, South Dakota Supercell/Lightning (6/8/18)
While this upcoming storm season is just a few months away, I decided to look back on some old videos clips I took outside the badlands in South Dakota on June 8th, 2018. This was on the third day of chasing storms out on the plains for my very first time, and this supercell was the most intense storm out of all the days I was out on the plains. Watching it form from birth to death, this was definitely a storm of a life time. Hope you enjoy this video!

South Dakota Highway 73 Martin to Kadoka
South Dakota Highway 73 (SD 73) is a state route that runs across western South Dakota. It begins at the Nebraska border north of Merriman, Nebraska, as a continuation of Nebraska Highway 61. It runs to the North Dakota border, where it continues as North Dakota Highway 49. It is just more than 255 miles (410 km) in length.
When designated in the 1920s, South Dakota 73 only consisted of the segment from Faith (U.S. Route 212) to Lemmon (U.S. Route 12). The remainder of the route was unnumbered.
Around 1935, SD 73 was extended south from Faith, absorbing what had been a portion of South Dakota Highway 24 to near Plainview, then southeast via a new route to Philip. From there, it was concurrent with U.S. Highway 16 to Kadoka then southward along what had been South Dakota Highway 63. It continued south to the Nebraska border south of Martin, after sharing an alignment with U.S. Highway 18. Except for minor route straightening and a new concurrency with Interstate 90, this route has not changed since.
Around 1979, the northern terminus was extended east along U.S. 12 to Thunder Hawk, where it met up with a new road to link with ND 49.

Journey to the Petrified Forest
Taking vacations to new places for the first time is enjoyable! Documenting it along the way helps you to revisit your vacation when looking back on it years later. Sharing it helps people to be influenced in a good way to go out and travel the world while doing the same thing. Pretty much, South Dakota is a State where videos about South Dakota need to be made and shared with the world! The vacation, which is unfortunately over with now, came in six travelling steps that involve reaching the destination.
1. Leaving Natchitoches, Louisiana.
2. Driving to Alexandria, Louisiana.
3. Departing from Alexandria's AEX Airport.
4. Arriving at the DFW Airport in Dallas.
5. Departing from Dallas's DFW Airport.
6. Arriving at Rapid City's Airport.
Petrified Forest of the Black Hills is a very old place that first opened publicly back in 1929. Also called Petrified Forest Spearhead, it has a museum with petrified fossils, rocks, and wood dating back to 120-130,000,000 years ago. On the trail for the tour there are 25 labeled official places and features. It's located in between Sturgis and Rapid City so go check it out if you're in the area.
There's a ton of petrified logs everywhere on the tour trail. Before you do go on the trail you will get to watch a fifteen minute video on the formation of the Black Hills before you get to go look at all the crazy stuff in the museum! The place has very friendly people and it's open from April 5th-October 31st with the weather permitting SO CALL BEFORE YOU GO THERE. The forest is located in Piedmont, South Dakota, USA on Elk Creek Road on the main hill right above the camping grounds.
South Dakota is a very beautiful State that needs to have more tourism! More Americans need to learn their geography and need to learn the history on States like South Dakota. If you ever think about taking a trip to this State then go through with your plans. Stay tuned for more South Dakota videos that will be released onto this channel over the rest of the week. Like always, thanks for watching!

We are here in North Dakota giving talks at a church in Beach, North Dakota. As long as we are staying right on the edge of the Theodore Roosevelt State Park, we decided to hike back into the Badlands and the grasslands of North Dakota and see the Petrified Forest.
Along the way we came upon several bull bison and were somewhat concerned because the Park rangers say that they can be very dangerous. So we walked slowly. We also had an escape plan in case they charged.
It was a marvelous hike walking in landscape like we've never seen before. At times it almost seemed like we are on another planet.
