East Cape Baja Adventure: Snorkeling Cabo Pulmo & Waterfall at Canon De La Zorra (Travel Vlog) Ep.12
We explore some of the best things to do on the East Cape of Baja California between Cabo San Lucas and La Paz. We camp at Canon de la Zorra and snorkel in the Cabo Pulmo Marine Reserve.
Camping at Los Arbolitos, Cabo Pulmo was perfect. Los Arbolitos is one of the only places to access the Cabo Pulmo reef without a boat.
After all our fun it was time to catch the ferry from Baja California to Mainland Mexico with Baja Ferries. While waiting for our departure we checked out the La Paz Malecon.

Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, México - Unravel Travel TV
Los Cabos is located at the tip of the Baja Peninsula and comprised primarily of two towns, San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, that are linked by a 20-mile Corridor lined with world-class resort properties and championship golf. Cabo San Lucas, noted for its vitality and nightlife, offers a variety of attractions, including The Marina, which features 380 slips accommodating vessels up to 200 feet, along with boasting one of the highest quality of services and amenities expected at luxury yachting marinas. There is also El Arco, a natural rock formation in the shape of an arch which lies adjacent to Playa Del Amor (Lover's Beach) where couples can stroll hand in hand when the tide is low. In Cabo San Lucas, water enthusiasts can dive and view gardens of black coral and waterfalls of sand as they glide with the sea life under clear, warm water.
San Jose del Cabo is reminiscent of an older time, where the days are longer and the mood softer. However, its attractions are just as desirable as the more upbeat Cabo San Lucas. The Old Jesuit Mission, known as Parroquia San José, has a history dating back to the 1730's, and The Estero, an estuary with an endless variety of colorful birds and wildlife are just two of the town's many attractions.
In between, the 20-mile Corridor at Land's End is defined by the azure blue and turquoise waters of the Sea of Cortés, rugged cliffs, quiet coves teeming with marine life, desert vistas and mountains that all come together with a wash of colors that are unmistakably Cabo's. Today, other than the natural flora and fauna, its population consists of luxury hotels and resort properties, as well as a variety of premier, world-class golf courses designed by the game's best.
Beginning just north of San José, the East Cape stretches nearly a hundred miles along the Sea of Cortés eastward and northward past Los Barriles. This beautiful stretch of desert coastline is still mostly undeveloped, however the towns of Los Barriles and Buena Vista are thriving fishing and tourist communities offering lodging, local cuisine and pangas to rent for a day casting your line in the deep. The East Cape is also the windsurfing center of Los Cabos, as well as being home to the more remote Cabo Pulmo which draws divers to the most northerly coral reef in the Pacific.
At the other end of The Corridor beginning just north of Cabo San Lucas, the Pacific Coastline is developing rapidly, with electricity and other services pushing north from Los Cabos and south from Todos Santos to ensure development of several exclusive residential projects. While much of this spectacular coastline is still undeveloped, a paved highway provides easy access and sightseeing, including frequent whale sightings during their winter months of migration.
Today Los Cabos is visited annually by thousands of tourists who enjoy world-class fishing, golf, water sports, spas, shopping and more. And its growing number of luxury resort properties features a level of amenities and fine dining that is attracting elite groups for meetings and conventions, not to mention a Hollywood celeb or two. But the Tip of Baja wasn't always that way.

Villa del Faro - Luxury Resort Elegant Boutique Eco Hotel - Baja California Sur - LeAw in Mexico
In this episode, we will bring you with us at Villa del Faro an Eco-Friendly Elegant Boutique Eco Hotel on Baja's East Cape.
Enjoy the ride with us!
Imagine being in the middle of nowhere, in the lap of luxury, with spectacular sunsets and only the sound of waving palms and rolling surf. And it’s all eco-friendly.
Each accommodation is a separate, comfortable, private house – a casita, with individual patios, views of the gardens, fountains, and ocean, with thoughtful amenities in all. Each one is unique, full of handcrafted Mexican furnishings and art.
Villa del Faro is located on the East Cape, north of San Jose del Cabo in Baja California Sur, Mexico.
Due to the hotel’s remote location, they do not have phone lines or reliable cell phone service. Therefore, reservations are taken exclusively online ( ) or through email ( rental@villadelfaro.net ).
Villa del Faro is an hour from the Los Cabos airport over a rough dirt road but is a world away in seclusion and serenity. This is a paradise for snorkeling, surfing, fishing, diving, hiking, and walking for miles on an empty beach where the only footprints could be your own. It’s also a perfect place for relaxing with a book, quiet afternoon siestas and gazing at a resplendent night sky. PLEASE NOTE: Until further notice, an SUV is best to navigate the dirt roads, although 4-wheel drive is not necessary. Driving the dirt roads at night is not recommended.Villa del Faro Bed and Breakfast in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico
A complimentary breakfast is served at the restaurant every morning at 9:00 am. There is a full bar and extensive wine list. Dinner is available on request.
The hotel is completely off the grid, but never out of touch, with satellite and wi-fi available in designated areas. Families with children are welcome. NO SMOKING ALLOWED. NO PETS.
Villa del Faro is a unique and secluded hotel situated on 12 acres of gardens and desert overlooking miles of private, deserted beach. It is an oasis of beautiful gardens and stately palms, and painstakingly handcrafted dwellings that bring to mind both a Mexican hacienda and an Italianate villa. It is not a place for everyone. It offers solitude instead of shops, long walks on the only swimmable beach on the east cape, hikes into the deep arroyo instead of golf, watching the whales play from your private balcony, and personal care from the staff.
While the hotel sits in lush gardens, the surrounding desert is pristine and untouched. Villa del Faro was built with the environment in mind. It is laid out with one main building and a collection of casitas placed naturally on the existing landscape. It is a Green Hotel – truly off the grid. There are no electrical power lines or phone lines. Everything at the Villa is run on solar power, supplemented by a generator when needed. There are propane hot water heaters, propane refrigerators, and stoves. Drinking water is trucked in from a local ranch and stored in a tank where it is cleaned and purified. Water for cleaning is supplied by an on-site well, while a gray water reclamation system irrigates the gardens. “Water is gold” in the desert, and water conservation is always of the utmost priority. Guests are encouraged to conserve water and power during their stay at Villa del Faro.
The property was purchased in 1989, when this area of Baja’s East Cape was completely undeveloped. The builders envisioned a secluded retreat, where you could walk miles along a beach and the only footprints would be your own. And where traditional Mexican architecture and art would combine with elements of environmental and international design to create a totally unique and beautiful living space. Local workers and artisans were hired – brickworkers who had mastered the Mexican art of boveda ceilings, workers skilled in creating palapa roofs, and woodcarvers who could “paint” with a chisel. Their graceful and intricate work is visible everywhere at Villa del Faro. Molds were made for balustrades, tiles were handcrafted and painted. Mexican antiques, original artwork, and furniture were brought from the mainland. Each casita has its own distinctive style and ambiance. Artwork, attention to detail, and creative design can be seen at every turn as you walk the grounds of Villa del Faro.

Today's van life vlog takes place in Baja California Sur where we wake in our self converted Sprinter Van in Los Barriles and take you along for a day in the life! Having been here for the last 6 days, we've established a little bit of a van life routine: where we fill up our water, where we go grocery shopping and how we find free beachfront camping!! It's also our 6 YEAR ANNIVERSARY so we have fun sharing a bit of our love story with all of you :)
We have loved living in a van (self converted sprinter van) for the last year and a half and while we enjoy spending time in Canada it can get a little cold throughout the winter. So, we've decided to hit the road and drive across the continent to enjoy some warmer weather in Baja Mexico. If our last trip to this country taught us anything... it's to expect the unexpected!!
The Traveling Van Life in Mexico; hot, sticky, but oh so much fun!

In this episode, we leave a really cool Pacific Coast boondocking spot called Canyon Camp or Arroyo Amarga, depending on who you talk to.
We had been waiting to see the shipwreck only to be disappointed by the lack of shipwreck. The picture we saw in the magazine showed a lot more ship than what we saw, that's for sure!
San Quintin was a cute little fishing village that was worth that stop, and we finished our day in Ensenada, on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific coast.
Thanks for watching and safe travels everyone...Paul & Lorena

IS IT ANY GOOD?
Reading this greatest of all children's adventure tales will make you realize how low so much of children's literature has sunk. This has everything you'd want in a book for kids: a mesmerizing story, brilliantly literary writing style, terrific characters (including one of the greatest characters in literature, the charming villain Long John Silver), rich settings, and the most stalwart and upstanding values presented in the most attractive and appealing way. Jim's bravery and daring are inseparable from his honesty and rectitude. This ordinary boy who rises to the occasion with grit and gallantry makes virtue the essential aspect of heroism. There are few moments in literature as thrilling as when Jim turns down a chance to escape torture and death because he has given his word.
Stevenson, who obviously had great respect for his young readers, doesn't pull his punches when it comes to vocabulary and sentence structure -- young readers may need some help. But the ideal introduction to this classic is as a read-aloud -- don't miss the chance to share this with your children. There are a gazillion versions: stay away from the various adaptations and abridgments and give your children the gift of the original, preferably in a beautifully illustrated edition. You can't do better than N. C. Wyeth, if you can find it in a used bookstore or online. In more than 125 years this book hasn't dated at all -- it's just as exciting and relevant as ever, and its bracingly clear morality is a tonic in troubled times.
From the Book:
The paper had been sealed in several places with a thimble by way of seal; the very thimble, perhaps, that I had found in the captain's pocket. The doctor opened the seals with great care, and there fell out the map of an island, with latitude and longitude, soundings, names of hills and bays and inlets, and every particular that would be needed to bring a ship to a safe anchorage upon its shores. It was about nine miles long and five across, shaped, you might say, like a fat dragon standing up, and had two fine land-locked harbours, and a hill in the centre part marked The Spy-glass. There were several additions of a later date, but above all, three crosses of red ink--two on the north part of the island, one in the southwest--and beside this last, in the same red ink, and in a small, neat hand, very different from the captain's tottery characters, these words: Bulk of treasure here.
WHAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW
Parents need to know that this is a pirate adventure and, as you'd expect, has plenty of violence, though nothing excessive, overly graphic, or gratuitous. But you will never find a better model of a brave and honest hero than Jim Hawkins.
