OUR 1st MOTORBIKE RIDE ADVENTURE to Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia // 204
My first day in Jimbaran, Bali was one of the best of my month on the island! I left Nusa Lembongan this morning, then was offered an invitation to join a hostel-mate Felix on his inaugural motorbike trip to Uluwatu, Bali!
The 50-minute road trip was Felix's first ever! We had some stumbles along the way (metaphorically of course), but made it to Single Fin, Uluwatu, Bali unscathed! (Thanks Felix!)
This was my first time riding a motorbike for such a long distance. For some reason, it felt more comfortable having my first ride be with someone else's first drive! It was equally thrilling (and stressful) for us both!
Uluwatu Beach is a point in south Bali (like alllll the way south) with an incredible unset view. Described as the place where the water comes out of the rocks, Uluwatu beach provides an adventurous experience. Just past the plains of coral (some of which I still have embedded in my foot) are long rolling waves dotted with surfers. The overhanging cliffs provide a unique cavernous experience as you walk from the sand to the water.
Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia is well worth at least a daytrip in your Bali plans. Uluwatu was beautiful with a gorgeous coastline. Sealife was abundant (I couldn't count the crazy creatures we saw: crabs, octopus-like things, snake, fish, etc.) and I bet snorkeling near the coast is thrilling.
As a fierce advocate for walking as a primary means of local transport while traveling, I must say that having a motorbike in Bali makes a ton of difference. If I hadn't ridden on the motorbike with Felix, I never would have visited Uluwatu (because who has money for a roundtrip with Grab for a day trip?) and I never would have had the incredible day I had!
If you're considering whether to rent a motorbike in Bali or not, I suggest renting one at least for a few days. While you miss a lot of things while zipping through the country on a bike, you can also reach a lot more places. I love having the chance to deeply observe my surroundings on a slow walk through town, but--especially in the Bali heat--sometimes a motorbike will be more motivating to get you out of the AC and onto some backroad with cows and chickens. Oh, and go to Uluwatu, Bali too. Can't miss that beautiful adventure!

GORGEOUS BLUE LAGOON in Padang Bai, Bali, Indonesia // 187
Today, I ventured to the less touristed Blue Lagoon in Padang Bai. It has amazingly clear waters, the kind you imagine when you think about Bali! It was really beautiful. The waves were just as big as in Canggu, but if you crashed in them, you'd be pulp in the rocks.
Blue Lagoon (Bloo Lagoon) is in Padang Bai (Padang Bay) in Bali. The town is most visited due to its port, which sends and receives ferries and fastboats from Padang Bai to the Gili Islands and Nusa Penida. I want to visit both, but I don't think I can afford to do so. Transport is pricey!
Padang Bai has more to offer, but today I just explored the Blue Lagoon after arriving from Canggu, Bali.
I recommend a trip to the Blue Lagoon, Bali because it is gorgeous and great for snorkeling. I don't dive, but others say the area is great for diving as well.
