A lone wasp-like 'Hot-Air Balloon' drifts over the City - Bristol International Balloon Fiesta
The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta (held in the city of Bristol, England), is one of the biggest festivals of its type in Europe
'Bristol International Balloon Fiesta'
The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is held annually in England. Teams from the UK and other parts of the world bring their hot air balloons to the site and participate in mass ascents where as many as 100 balloons may launch at a time.
The event was first held in 1979 and is now one of the largest in Europe. It is common to have crowds of over 100,000 on each of the four days of the festival.[1] It takes place in a large country estate Ashton Court. Mass launches are made twice a day, at 6am and 6pm, subject to weather conditions.
Location of Ashton Court, where Fiesta takes place.
One popular attraction is the night glow, when balloons are inflated and glow to music after dark. These are held on the opening Thursday night at approx 9:30pm, followed by a spectacular fireworks display. There is another night glow at the same time followed by the fireworks on the Saturday night. Some people see these as the highlight of the fiesta.[2]
The balloon makers Cameron Balloons are near to the fiesta site, in Bedminster, and make many of the special shaped balloons, which have included Rupert the Bear, The Scottish Piper, Bertie Bassett, the Tesco Trolley, Stuart the Minion, and the BBC One Balloon. Many shapes have also attended the fiesta from abroad, over the years a UFO and a beaver have travelled from the USA, a kiwi bird from New Zealand, and an upside down balloon from the Netherlands.
Hot air balloon festival:
Hot air balloon festivals are held annually in many places throughout the year, allowing hot air balloons operators to gather- as well as for the general public- to participate in various activities. They can include races; evening night glows, in which balloons are fired while remaining tethered to the ground; and rides.
United States:
The United States of America (USA), commonly known as the United States (U.S.) or America (/əˈmɛrɪkə/), is a federal republic[16][17] composed of 50 states, a federal district, five major self-governing territories, and various possessions.[fn 6] Forty-eight states and the federal district are contiguous and located in North America between Canada and Mexico. The state of Alaska is in the northwest corner of North America, bordered by Canada to the east and across the Bering Strait from Russia to the west. The state of Hawaii is an archipelago in the mid-Pacific Ocean. The U.S. territories are scattered about the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, stretching across nine official time zones. The extremely diverse geography, climate and wildlife of the United States make it one of the world's 17 megadiverse countries.[19]
At 3.8 million square miles (9.8 million km2)[20] and with over 324 million people, the United States is the world's third- or fourth-largest country by total area,[fn 7] and the third-most populous. The capital is Washington, D.C., and the largest city is New York City; twelve other major metropolitan areas—each with at least 4.5 million inhabitants—are Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco, Phoenix, and Riverside.

Aero-TV: Cameron's Andy Baird on Ballooning - 'A Business With Its Ups And Downs' (Part 2)
A True Ballooning Expert Outlines The Sport For Aero-TV
For the thousands of you that have already seen some of the Aero-TV programming that we produced at the 2010 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, its no secret that we had a great time in and amongst the lofty flying machines that floated all over New Mexico in early October. We've heard from a number of you that the sport looked interesting... and more challenging than many realized... which has produced some curiosity about the modern sport of Hot-Air ballooning.
Thankfully; ANN teamed up with Cameron Balloons' Andy Baird to put together a primer on all things ballooning and we're pleased to present this two-part program to you now. Serving the needs of balloon enthusiasts in the United States, Cameron Balloons US is wholly US owned, managed and staffed. Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and fully regulated under the jurisdiction of the FAA, Cameron US has an accomplished history dating back more than 30 years. Serving overseas pilots around the world, Cameron Balloons Ltd. builds Camerons in a production facility situated in Bristol, England.
More than 6,000 Camerons have been built over the past 30-plus years -- balloons of all types, sizes and shapes. Cameron is the largest-selling brand of hot-air balloon in the world, and offers pilots the most extensive range of aerostats in the industry: hot-air balloons, personal hopper balloons; first to fly around-the-world roziere balloons; gas balloons; airships; and special-shape balloons.
Andy took his first balloon flight in Albuquerque in 1977, and has been involved in aviation ever since. At age 18, he completed his airplane license before going on to College to study Aeronautical Engineering in England. In 1984, he completed an internship with Cameron Balloons Ltd., in Bristol, England, before moving back to Michigan where he spent ten years flying balloons. Andy became Chief Pilot and Chief Flight Instructor for a major Michigan ride and corporate balloon company. Later Andy became a Representative for Cameron Balloons U.S., and started his own business specializing in the operation of advertising balloons for major corporations, gaining over 1,200 hours as pilot-in-command of hot air balloons. In 1994, Andy joined the Cameron U.S. Factory Team. The factory's FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER), Andy is Cameron's official test pilot, responsible for flight-testing of all new special shape and standard balloons, plus the general testing and implementation of new designs and equipment. Andy is both a FAA Certified Repairman and a BBAC (British Balloon and Airship Club) Inspector.

Aero-TV: The Ultimate 'Solo' Trip - Cameron Balloons' Sky Hopper
Mon, 14 February 2011 .
A Unique, Affordable and Isolated way to Enjoy Ballooning
Ballooning is both a unique as well as eclectic pursuit... and it attracts (naturally) a pretty unique brand of aviator to its ranks. But solo balloons are particularly rare... though an undeniably cost effective way to play in the sky.
While there have been a number of single seat experimental and ultralight balloon systems offered over the years, Cameron says its Sky Hopper is a smaller, lighter and simpler concept. Still; they note that the Hopper 'cuts no corners when it comes to features, including a four point fail safe suspension system that transmits base loads to the envelope, and a silky-smooth rotation system which incorporates sealed, stainless steel ball bearings.' The design enables the very minimal base to accommodate any Cameron tank, from a 10 gallon aluminum to a 15 gallon stainless steel - all with no modifications.
The harness technology - taken from the world of paragliding - provides in-flight security and easy transition for landing from the sitting to standing positions. It's adjustable for tall - or not so tall - pilots, and even incorporates a footrest. Specially developed, the burner is fitted with quiet multi-hole jets plus a separate whisper unit. Weight without the fuel cylinder is just 36 pounds, and when packed for transport, the pack measures 43 x 16 x 15 inches - well inside aircraft baggage limits. Think of it... take your flying machine with you... in the baggage compartment!

Aero-TV:Cameron Balloons Chariot - Armchair Comfort + Freedom of Flight
An Amazing New Way To Enjoy The Thrill Of Ballooning
The ballooning community is no stranger to ingenuity but the folks of Cameron Balloons seem to have that quality in abundance. Once of the proofs of that hypothesis is the Cameron Duo Chariot -- a unique and breezy new means by which one can catch some air and enjoy 'edge of the seat' ballooning thrills.
Designed to be light-weight and fun to fly, the Duo Chariot allows anyone to share the freedom and pure joy of 'hopper-style' flying... but, with a passenger. The system is light-weight -- with the Chariot and burner weighing a mere 110lbs. Easy to assemble, the Duo Chariot utilizes a conventional carabiner hookup with nylon flexi-poles. Best of all; the Duo Chariot boasts comfortable flying qualities, with a built-in foot rest, PLENTY of elbow-room, and a fully adjustable harness for each passenger.
The Duo Chariot can be flown with any Cameron envelope up to 100,000 cubic feet and should be certified by the time that you read this. An air balloon measuring 74 foot was inflated inside the country's largest cathedral and is believed to be the first event of its kind.
The balloon was filled with 105,000 cubic feet of air inside the Liverpool cathedral and went up 49 foot under the 174 foot high roof.
Robin Batchelor, one of the UK’s most experienced professional balloon pilots and also the man who taught Sir Richard Branson how to fly, will be responsible for inflating and taking off with four choristers in the basket of the balloon inside the Cathedral.
It was all to celebrate a huge donation of £384,000, from Hamish Ogston CBE, a leading British entrepreneur, and philanthropist, to help refurbish the cathedral's organ and also the largest pipe-organ in the UK.
