Bar la Playa Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Bar la Playa is one of Puerto Vallarta's most popular Bars located on the South-side of Vallarta. This week I interview Owner Alex Ivan Moctezuma who tells us The Secret For a Great Bar.

When you are in Puerto Vallarta, you will find there are no shortages of bars. Almost every restaurant has one, and there are all sorts of watering holes. I’ve taken you to a few breweries and a couple of bars, as well, and like I’ve said more than once, I
Bar la Playa, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
want to take you to places that I like because I think I know you, and I’m pretty sure you would like this place too. Bar La Playa is a tiny bar located on Lazaro Cardenas, alongside the Parque de Los Azulejos, and next door to places like Page in The Sun, and Jim Demetrio’s Studio.
The bar opens up right on the sidewalk with bar stools set up on the sidewalk like maybe four of them along that outside part of the L shaped bar, the bar then goes inside the small building with maybe room for another 6 stools. Then a couple of stools along the opposite wall and a couple of tables set out on the sidewalk. Bathrooms in the back.
Bar la Playa always has beautiful bartenders, yes Beautiful young ladies working miracles behind the bar. Good liking guys too. Okay, but these girls really know how to mix a drink. And customer service is obviously something these tenders have been trained in. And the drinks…well let me tell you. Can you tell I really like this bar?
I made arrangements to meet Alex in the evening after he and his wife put his little baby to bed for the night. I figured we should meet at Bar La Playa. I wanted to give you a taste of what a hopping little bar sounds like, European café style like on
the sidewalk at around 10:30 on a warm October evening in Puerto Vallarta. So I grabbed the only table available just outside the bar and set up the microphones, got a tasty drink and waited just a couple of minutes for the new daddy to come riding up on his motorcycle. Parked it out front, he checked on his crew, ordered a stiff drink, and we started talking about his story, and his recipe for success in the cocktail making business. So let’s go right now to Lázaro Cárdenas 179, Emiliano Zapata neighborhood right across the street From TileparkPV, and let’s meet one of the young entrepreneurs of Vallarta, Alexis Ivan Moctezuma, Alex, from Bar La Playa, Puerto Vallarta.

Puerto Vallarta Zona Romántica / Romantic Zone Playa Los Muertos / Beach

Playa Los Muertos (Los Muertos Beach) is one of the most popular beaches, or perhaps, the most popular and visited beach in Puerto Vallarta Jalisco Mexico.
It is located south of the Malecón and the Cuale river, in the so-called Romantic Zone or Old Vallarta. Between the Cuale river and Venustiano Carranza street (where Daiquiri Dick's is located) the beach is called Olas Altas and south of Venustiano Carranza street to the south it is called Los Muertos Beach (Deadman's Beach, or Beach of The Dead, we'll talk about the sinister name a bit further down).
It is an excellent place to relax, walk, eat or have a beer and enjoy the famous Vallarta sunsets.
There is also a relatively new pier and the location's now a place that mixes a lot of old and new, traditional and modern, it is very active and very Mexican too.
The name, I must admit, is incredibly ugly, in fact, the city officials have tried several times to change it, Playa del Sol (Sun Beach), being one of the proposals, but the new ones have never stuck and people continue to use the traditional name.
The most accepted version of why this beautiful beach has this horrible name, apparently the most correct and that has most support in documents and expert experience, is that the beach was a sacred cemetery of the local Indians, a pantheon. The local residents noticed it when they began to unearth bones in ceramic containers, a custom of the local tribes when they buried their dead. This explanation is also validated by the archaeologist Dr. Joseph Mounjoy.
All this is quite interesting, but, despite the unattractive name, Playa de Los Muertos is one of the main Things to do in Puerto Vallarta Romantic Zone (Old Vallarta), a beach full of people compared to the rest of the beaches of Vallarta and even the whole of Bahia de Banderas, but If you like to people-watching, if you're sociable, and don't feel uncomfortable among people, you'll have a great time: vendors, various activities, shrimp and grilled fish, beer, parasailing, just swimming (the waves are not big), or playing in the sand with your children, there is so much you'll enjoy.
There are also restaurants, bars and cafes, in the evening you can enjoy a romantic gourmet dinner on the beach and enjoy one of the famous Puerto Vallarta sunsets, and now even with the impressive and colorful Playa de Los Muertos Pier, a perfect photo opportunity and souvenir for all your indelible memories of PV.
Los Muertos Beach is definitely not one for those looking to relax and get away from it all, but if you want action, sun, sand, food and lots to do, this one of the Vallarta Beaches is the heart of everything in Old Vallarta.

Conoce Playa Majahuitas / See Majahuitas Beach Cabo Corrientes Jalisco Mexico

Majahuitas is a beautiful little beach in Cabo Corrientes south of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. It has beautiful waters and clear golden sands, bordered by palm trees and the green jungle of the region. It's what one would consider the perfect beach when imagining a place to go relax in the sun, enjoy the sand and the warm and clean waters of the Bay of Banderas.
What's attractive and why go
It is a very quiet beach, free from the hustle and bustle of the beaches near downtown Puerto Vallarta, there are no vendors, no music rumbling in the bars or restaurants, no crowds of people and the noise that entails. Here, the noisiest things are the green-emerald waves that break gently on the clear, golden sands of the beach. The wind rocks the palm trees and shakes the fronds, that could be considered another constant noise in this sub-tropical beach :-) So if you are a little bit anti-crowds, this is the place for you.
Where Majahuitas Beach Located (Map)?
It is in the southern area of the Bay of Banderas, is one of the many beautiful beaches of the municipality of Cabo Corrientes, beaches that are located south-west of Boca de Tomatlan, the last beach, and town in the municipality of Puerto Vallarta that can be reached by land in a vehicle. It is located about 15-20 minutes from Boca and between the beaches of Quimixto and Yelapa. To locate it on a map, use this link:
How to get to Majahuitas Jalisco
It can only be reached by sea, as we mentioned the road continues to the south past Boca de Tomatlan, but no longer edges along the bay and these beaches of Cabo Corrientes are isolated and, therefore, more virgin, clean and quiet too. We recommend you first travel to Boca by taxi, Uber or one of the many local buses that travel to Mismaloya or Boca itself, also the buses that travel to El Tuito, which is farther south, will do. It's about 20 minutes fromPuerto Vallarta's Romantic Zone. Once in Boca, walk to the village boardwalk (malecon) on the banks of the Horcones River and negotiate a trip with the local water taxis (pangas). Conoce Playa Las Caletas / Get to know Las Caletas Beach Jalisco Mexico (Parte/Part 1)

Las Caletas (or Las Caletas Beach Hideaway) is a wonderful beach south of Puerto Vallarta & Boca de Tomatlán, you can only get there by sea with Tour Provider Vallarta Adventures, which is why some people think it's an island.
Las Caletas Beach is an isolated jungle-clad green canopy enveloped cove with lots to do. You can get there during daylight with the Las Caletas by day tour and at night with Rhythms of The Night.
Once you arrive you can enjoy relaxing in hammocks by the sea, having a drink in the many small bars along the edges of the beach while being pampered by the friendly and attentive staff.
Other options while you are there include kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming with sea lions, paddle boarding, guided nature walks. There is a wonderful hilltop spa, there's an Orchidarium, Aviary, Deer Sanctuary, Yoga, Cooking lessons, pottery classes, zip-lining into the sea. Las Caletas water-slide offers a rush down the hill into the sea, there's an area where you can have a close up experience with sea life, including manta rays and more.
I believe the best idea is to just relax and enjoy the sea, the view and the sun at Las Caletas Jalisco.
Las Caletas was for some time the home of the famous Irish-USA Hollywood director John Huston before it became Las Caletas Vallarta Adventures, he lived here for many years until his health forced him to a location closer to health support.
The Las Caletas Tour starts off at the Puerto Vallarta API harbor in the northern limit of the Hotel Zone, where the cruises arrive too. You'll need to pay a reasonable port tax (I think it was a dollar or two) and you'll get in to the piers.
Snorkeling Las Caletas is great, the water is clear and warm and there are lots of fish very close to the edge and further in. You'll find colorful fish hiding in the coral covered rocks and all kinds of urchins, crabs and more in the deeper areas.
Las Caletas Cabo Corrientes tour is a great little day trip of young couples and families with younger kids, the various activities will make the trip one of the most memorable on your Puerto Vallarta trip.

Joseph Mountjoy.

Muelle de / Pier at Playa Los Muertos, Puerto Vallarta Mexico
