Drinking Lean: The Codeine Based Drink Associated With Hip Hop Culture
Lean is the name of a codeine-based drink that has become popular within some strands of hip hop culture in the US - and now it has made its way to Bristol. It is made with prescribed codeine-based cough syrup, but, when mixed with alcohol and other drugs like Xanax, it poses an extreme overdose risk.
Here, Drugsland highlights the dangers of Lean, as well as meeting some musicians from Bristol who consume the drink.

The Largest Aircraft Ever Built By Britain: The Bristol Brabazon
With a wingspan greater than a Boeing 747, The Bristol Brabazon was the largest aircraft ever built by Britain. More a flying oceanliner than plane, it featured sleeping cabins, a dining room, a cocktail bar and lounge, and even a 23 seat movie theater.
The Brabazon was also fitted with cutting edge innovations. A fully pressurized, air conditioned cabin. Electric engine controls, and high-pressure hydraulics to operate its massive control surfaces. It’s enormous wing housed more than 16 thousand gallons of fuel, and eight of the most powerful piston engines available. While the first Brabazon used piston engines, later Brabazon were to use turboprop engines that were being developed by Bristol.
The Bristol Brabazon would have true transatlantic capability. Able to fly non-stop from London to New York against prevailing eastern winds. In the 1940’s, this would have been quite the feat. Transatlantic flights were almost always done in stages to allow for refueling.
Despite introducing new innovations, many of which influenced the future of aviation, the Brabazon’s driving philosophy was outdated. The Brabazon’s mission was to compete with ocean liners for ultra-wealthy passengers. But this lumbering, super-sized airliner would have been introduced with airlines for 1950’s, right around when the first jet airliners, like the De Havilland Comet, were taking to the skies. Aircraft like the Dash 80, which would become the 707, were also just around the corner, and would bring a transatlantic crossing down to as little as 7 hours.
After a massive design and development effort, Britain found itself stuck with a plane nobody actually wanted, designed for an era that no longer existed. The program was cancelled and the Brabazon, and half finished turboprop successor were sold for their weight in scrap. #BristolBrabazon #BritishAviation #WhiteElephant #Airplanes

GCN’s HQ is in the picturesque city of Bath, and our venue for our epic ride is just a stone’s throw away in the Exmoor National Park. Many Brits probably wouldn’t give it a second thought when choosing a cycling destination, but it’s stunning, and when you’re going off road, it’s hard to beat. Steep climbs, exposed hill tops with sheltered wooded combes nestled between, and all covered with miles and miles of narrow country roads, and legal off road trails. It’s a miniature riding paradise.

TRANSCRIPT
The pie chart is a great way to display data when information on the relative sizes of data points is important to you. Even if you tell someone that one particular staff member got one fifth of all sales, the implications and scope of this data point will be far clearer if they can immediately compare that to others and solidify in their mind how a fifth looks as a fraction of everything.
Luckily a pie chart is one the main types of chart that Excel is perfect for creating. Let's go through the quick process now. I've got a table with some yearly sales totals for various employees. I want to make a pie chart so that I can easily see the split of sales between the employees at a glance.
Excel itself will do all the hard work, but we need to steer it a little. First select a Pie chart from the charts section of the Insert tab. There are various types available, but you can always change the type later so it doesn't really matter what you pick for now.
A frame for your pie chart appears, but it's blank. We need to set up a data source, which is done by clicking on Select Data in the ribbon while the chart frame is selected.
First we select the main series, which is the data we actually want to plot. It asks for a series name, which I will make equal to the column heading. The actual data in this case is the sales data below it.
For the so-called horizontal axis labels, or categories, we pick the list of things we want to plot our data for, which right now is just our list of staff members.
Already the pie chart is taking shape! Now the clever thing about our data being in an Excel table is that if I add a new person to my list, the Pie chart will automatically include the new information on that person without me having to go and fiddle with the data source settings, which is very handy.
Now the basic pie chart that you'll have by now can be customised in loads of ways. You'll probably want to give it a title that precisely describes what it shows, so that it can be used stand-alone from the actual data.
Another useful thing to add is a set of data labels that helps counter the fact that the average viewer won't be able to precisely judge the proportions of the segments by eye. Right click on the actual pie and pick the option to add data labels. Numbers will appear corresponding to the raw data. You might want to keep this, or you can right click on the pie again and click on format data labels to see other available options, such as percentages. Using the category names is a good choice if you don't have to have a legend taking up space beside your pie. You can also play with the positioning of the labels, but the default is usually pretty good.
Then there are loads of options to play with in the Layout and Format tabs of the ribbon that appear while the chart frame is selected, plus on the Design tab you can pick different colour schemes to suit your needs.
While the frame is selected you can also head to the file tab and choose print to print out a full page version of your chart to share with others.
Now one of the main weaknesses of a pie chart as that if you have more than one pie chart, it is hard to compare them, but actually it is possible to set up something known as a comparative pie chart where the sum of all the raw data points determines the total radius of the pie itself, allowing you to make, for example, year-on-year comparisons at the same time as seeing the break down within the years.
To learn about that, continue on to our advanced pie charts video linked in the description and on your screen, otherwise whatever you do be sure to like this video if you found it helpul and subscribe to your channel for more helpful Excel, Access and VBA videos. The file we've been showing you is available for download on our website, linked in the description and on screen, where you'll also find loads of other helpful tips and videos.
That's all for now, thanks for watching.
