VIDEO & MUSIC by MATTHEW E. JONES:
The video was filmed, edited, and scored by Matthew E. Jones (a.k.a. matt:matt), while Jones was an undergraduate student at Florida State University (FSU), Tallahassee. Jones met Yates when Yates gave a lecture at FSU on The Color of Palo Alto. Jones came to California and filmed the last day of data sampling (photography) in 2005 and edited the video in early 2006. Although it has been shown to art schools, universities, galleries, and other audiences since then, Yates and Jones have waited to post the video online until after the color was discovered and the unveiling was near.
LOCAL ITEM #1 - FACEBOOK HEADQUARTERS:
Unbeknownst to Yates and Jones when filming in 2005, the vacant lot under construction in the video (behind a chain link fence with I-beams and a port-a-potty) would become Facebook Intergalactic Headquarters at 164 Hamilton Avenue, two blocks from The Color of Palo Alto headquarters in Civic Center Plaza at 250 Hamilton Avenue. The Color of Palo Alto was located in the plaza from 2004 to 2008, and the Facebook building was finished in 2006.
LOCAL ITEM #2 - OPENING SHOT:
The opening shot of the video is from Foothills Park in Palo Alto looking toward City Hall at dawn. The Hoover Tower of Stanford University is visible in the left side of the frame. The water in the background is the San Francisco Bay. The City of Palo Alto boundary extends from the Santa Cruz Mountains down into the Bay.
FINAL COLOR:
The color specimens (photographs) were taken from every parcel in the city from January to December, 2005 (to capture all four seasons in Palo Alto), hence the reference to one year in the video. It took four years to build up to the data collection year, and several years to process the data afterward, hence 2001 to 2008, or seven years to complete the entire project. Also, the final color is not brown, grey, or beige.

About this airport:
Palo Alto Airport (IATA: PAO, ICAO: KPAO, FAA LID: PAO) is a general aviation airport in the city of Palo Alto in Santa Clara County, California, USA, near the south end of San Francisco Bay on the western shore.[1] It is among the busiest General Aviation airports in the United States, though the #1 rank belongs to Van Nuys Airport (KVNY) [2
Facilities[edit]
Palo Alto Airport[3] covers 102 acres (41 ha) and has one asphalt paved runway (13/31) measuring 2,443 × 70 ft. (745 × 21 m).
First time pilots should familiarize themselves with the complex SF Bay Area airspace, especially the overlying SFO Class B and the abutting SJC Class C airspace. Landing pilots should also watch out for bird and jackrabbit activity.
Facilities at this busy towered airport include a staffed terminal and multiple repair shops: Advantage Aviation (Cessna & Beechcraft Authorized Service Center), WVAS Inc. dba Aero Works (Diamond Authorized Service Center), Rossi Aircraft, and Peninsula Avionics. The airport is also home to a number of flying clubs (in order of establishment): the Stanford Flying Club (est. 1930),[4] the West Valley Flying Club (est. 1973),[5] Sundance Flying Club (est. 2006), the Advantage Aviation Flying Club, and, the Advanced Flyers. The airport is located within one-half mile of U.S. Route 101.
Fifteen miles of hiking and biking trails, affording multiple opportunities for birdwatching, form part of the adjacent 1,940-acre (785 ha) Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve.[6] The airport is also adjacent to a public golf course.[7] Dining options within a short walk include the Abundant Air Cafe,[8] and the Bay Café[9] at the golf course.

Palo Alto, Foot Hills Park, Los Trancos Trail... FULL ~7.5 mile Loop!!... UPDATE!!
I am so glad I did this day hike!! The last winter rain storms washed out a couple spots of the trail around the los trancos creek area. They have been impassable and closed off since last year. I imagine they are slowly becoming overgrown and un-maintained as well.

What's Next for the Baylands?
The City of Brisbane wanted to reach out to you and let you know that on the November 2018 ballot, “Measure JJ” has passed to support new development in our community. The measure passed by a majority of 55% approving a General Plan Amendment for the Baylands.
Next, the City will be working on the Implementation of the Measure, which requires a revised “Specific Plan” outlining the details for the construction of our new residential neighborhood and new commercial development.
Now the City needs your help, a community process will begin soon and we want to hear from you!
This engagement effort will be facilitated by Home for All, a San Mateo County sponsored community engagement program.
Our aim is to hear from you as we define community goals and establish expectations as to how the new Baylands neighborhood will be designed to enhance our existing community.
It’s time to work together to ensure that the City of Brisbane remains vibrant and connected, we want to hear from so reach out and get involved, here’s how.

Secret Hiking Trial? | Bay Area Edition
If you're a hiking junkie in the Bay Area, have you been to Garin park behind CSUEB? It’s absolutely amazing and a lot of students are unaware of it. This is where the iconic Ash Tray is located. The Ash tray is not seen in this video, but it is a hot spot amongst students to hang out. There’s also a beautiful creek not seen in the video as well, I took a different route from the usual, but next time I will show the famous “Ash Tray” and Ziele creek. If you ever go to this hike, make sure to dress in work out attire and be aware of animals that may reside here aswell. I haven’t personally encountered wild animals but only deers and lizards. I hope you guys come out here soon and check out this park right behind the California State University, East Bay Dorms.
