Denver COLORADO - Bear Creek Lake Park Camping - RV Living
Camping in Denver, Colorado is EXPENSIVE but we found a county RV park for $25 w/in 15 minutes of Downtown Denver, CO. Bear Creek Lake Park was a well maintained park with many options. Clean restrooms, archery, horseback riding, trails, paved pike path, etc. We also use Denver's public transportation (buses and train) and couldn't think of an easier way to get around. We are quickly becoming experts on cheap rv living and finding the best deals within 30 minutes of where we want to be. We prefer free, but $25 so close to Denver Colorado was a great find for RV camping!

Bear Creek Lake Park is a great destination for Fat Biking. Just a short drive from the city of Denver, this park is huge. Almost the size of nice state park. It currently features about 15 miles of single track and wider soft dirt and sandy trails for users of all abilities. Most trails are open to horses, hikers and mountain bikes… and FAT BIKES! There are also various paved trails that meander through the park as well.
To get a real feel for the park try the Mount Carbon Loop (6.9 miles) which goes around the park. That’s what I started on today and it’s a nice climb to the top. Mount Carbon is the highest point of the park and is a great spot to stop and take some pictures of the stellar 360º view.
You can enter the park through the main entrance and pay a fee or you can park near Hwy 285 & Simms. There are two turn offs with dead-ends that you can park at for free if they are not already full. The area is popular for skinny tire enthusiasts as well (road bikers).
If you need any last minute supplies there’s a gas station on Morrison Road and C-470 near the park entrance.
The park allows overnight camping as well if you want to make a multi-day trip out of it. There’s plenty of terrain to ride on.
More information about the park such as fees and closures can be found here.

Great hike with three creek crossings. Start on Old Kipling at Bear Creek and follow the trail through the woods. At the SE end of that Golf Course, you will encounter 1st of three creek crossings (shallow and dogs will love it).
After awhile you come out behind the maintenance facility. Crossing the path / road you now will climb the hill to atop Bear Creek Lake. Views are great for a metro area.
Water and bathrooms on top (golfers, but everyone can use facilities and get cold water).
More hiking available to the west.
Turn around here, and you have a nice 4+ mile hike.

Fishing Colorado, Bear Creek Greenbelt.
Out fishing Bear Creek Greenbelt in Lakewood Co. I'm sorry for the bad camera angles on some of the fish, I was using my head mount and apparently I didn't have it angled down far enough.

A bicycle ride down Mount Carbon at Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood, Colorado
Mount Carbon is located in the southeast portion of Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood, Colorado. My guess is Mount Carbon only rises less than 90 metres (295 feet) above the surrounding landscape. The park, itself, is located in the southwestern part of Lakewood, very near Morrison, Colorado, and has an area of about 1,052 hectares (2,600 acres). The ride down Mount Carbon can be a lot of fun when you're not holding a camera in one hand!
