Liverpool, England walks: Pier Head Docks and Beatles Statues
Woke up nice and early the next morning to go down to the Pier Head docks by the Mersey river. Walking around that area I couldn't help but think that these are the same walkways and paths that must have been walked by John, Paul, George and Ringo many, many years ago when they were young men in Liverpool with nothing but dreams of greatness in their eyes.

The Beatles Statue -
Beatles statue unveiled in Liverpool, 4 December 2015.
A magnificent bronze statue of Liverpool's most famous sons was unveiled at the Pier Head on Friday, 4 December 2015 – 50 years after The Beatles made their final appearance in the city of their birth. The huge, 1.2 ton statue is the work of sculptor Andy Edwards from an original idea by Chris Butler of Castle Fine Art Foundry which has premises in the nearby Baltic Quarter. The statue was unveiled by Julia Baird, John Lennon's half-sister, and was generously gifted to the City of Liverpool by the Cavern Club.
From the moment of its unveiling, the 'Four Lads from Liverpool' statue has quickly become a popular new tourist attraction, located directly in front of the iconic 'Three Graces' buildings, with visitors queuing up to have their photographs taken in front of it.

Intimate, brick vaulted cellars with 1960s memorabilia, hosting live tribute acts day and night.
The Cavern Club opened on 16 January 1957 as a jazz club, later becoming a centre of the rock and roll scene in Liverpool in the early 1960s. The club became closely associated with the Merseybeat music genre and, famously, regularly hosted The Beatles in their early years. The Cavern Club closed and opened in a new site on March 1973 and was filled in during construction work on the Merseyrail underground rail loop. It would later be excavated and reopened on 26 April 1984.
The Cavern Club at 10 Mathew Street, in Liverpool was the venue where the Beatles' (formerly known as the Quarrymen) UK popularity started. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Pete Best were first seen by Brian Epstein at the club. Epstein eventually became their manager, going on to secure them a record contract. Best was replaced by Ringo Starr on 16 August 1962, which upset many Beatles fans. After taunts of, Pete forever, Ringo never!, one agitated fan headbutted Harrison in the club.
The Cavern Club was the third club managed by Alan Synter, which originally opened as a jazz-only club on 16 January 1957, being styled after the Paris venue, Le Caveau. The Quarrymen made their first appearance at the club on 21 February 1957, but by 9 February 1961, when the group first performed there under their new name of the Beatles, the club was under the ownership of Ray McFall. The Cavern Club's popularity grew, rapidly becoming the most famous club in Britain. According to the club's resident DJ, Bob Wooler, the Beatles made 292 appearances at the club in 1961, 1962 and 1963, culminating in a final appearance there on 3 August 1963—one month after the group recorded She Loves You, and six months before their first trip to the United States.
The club changed hands several more times before eventually being demolished to allow construction of an underground railway ventilation duct, before being used as a car park. A replica of the club was built on 75 per cent of the original site in 1984, built with 15,000 bricks retrieved from the original club site. On 16 January 1997, a sculpture of Lennon was unveiled outside The New Cavern Club, and on 14 December 1999, McCartney performed there, playing his last concert of the 20th century and publicising his album, Run Devil Run.
