Beaver Flats Interpretive Trail in Kananaskis | Journey Alberta
In this video, I head out to Kananaskis to do the short hike along the Beaver Flats Interpretive Trail! It's a out and back trail, starting at the Beaver Lodge parking lot. From there we walked past a bunch of active beaver ponds, each getting larger than the next. While this is quite a short little trail, it's still quite a scenic one. It's a place I've driven past countless times, and I was glad I stopped by it finally to explore! It's also worth noting that this trail is also accessed from the Beaver Flats Campground, with a couple sites bordering one of the ponds.

Hiking the Castle | Discovering Alberta's new provincial park in the Canadian Rockies
The Canadian Rockies in Alberta are a haven for hikers. So when an entirely new region for hiking in Alberta is discovered, it’s a big deal. It’s like mountain Christmas, with backpacks.
That was the case for photographer A.V. Wakefield (@viktorianorth on Instagram), a dedicated Alberta hiker, when she connected with Heather Davis in the brand new Castle Provincial Park. Wakefield has hiked all through the Canadian Rockies, but she had spent little time in the Castle region. Until it’s formation as a park in 2017, it just wasn’t on her radar.
Davis, however, has spent years living in the region, and now
guides hikers through Castle and nearby Crowsnest Pass through her company Uplift Adventures.
Davis agreed to show Wakefield around the new park, and introduced her (and her dog Metsa) to a whole new region to be discovered.

Hiking Through Weaselhead Flats Park in Calgary Alberta
April 23/2019
Today we are in Calgary, Alberta and we will be hiking through Weaselhead Flats Park, a natural delta on the Elbow River. The trail is 4.8 kilometers, and has as elevation gain of 103 meters. This park features and abundant amount of wildlife. Once you in the delta it's hard to believe that you are in the city. There are numerous trails throughout this park.

Hiking in Mactaquac Provincial Park: A Fun & Easy Day Trip From Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada!
Today we're taking you to Mactaquac Provincial Park in New Brunswick! This is a fun and easy day trip from Fredericton, just a 30-minute drive from the city. This summer we've been prioritizing adventures close to home and exploring our own backyard, so while we were visiting with Sam's parents in Fredericton, we drove out to Mactaquac for a day close to nature.
The nice thing about Mactaquac is that the trails are short and easy (the longest is 2.4 kilometres), which makes it very accessible to the whole family. We tackled Little Mactaquac Trail, Beaver Pond Trail, and Alex Creek Trail. We saw birds, frogs and even had a really cool encounter with a river otter.
After hiking all morning, we had lunch at MOCO, a restaurant located by the golf course in the park. Here we chowed down on poutine, burgers and fries, a seafood cheese melt, and a fettucini alfredo with shrimp and scallops.
It was a really fun day close to nature and we didn't have to travel that far! We hope you guys enjoy this video and get a little taste of what summer in New Brunswick is like.

Drywood Mountain - Castle Wildland Provincial Park (Alberta, Canada)
2018-07-05 - Update. The 4 Km long vehicle access road to the trailhead has been permanently locked. I'd suggest bringing a bike and stashing it at the end of the road.
2017-08-12 - Dywood Mt. is nestled in the East Castle area of Castle Wildland Provincial Park, just north of Waterton Lakes National Park. Drywood has some of the best scrambling around with wonderful solid rock along the ascent drainage. The walk along the ridge after the summit is also worthwhile, although there is some elevation loss that has to be regained before descending off of the slopes toward Bovine (aka Blue) Lake at the end of the South Drywood Creek Trail. From the end of Drywood one could also make the push to Pincher Ridge, Victoria Ridge or Loaf Mt but that wasn't a challenge I was ready for this day.

South Chilcotin hiking trip Sept 2 -5 2016
A 4 day hiking trip I did in the South Chilcotins Mountain Provincial Park and Big Creek Provincial Park in British Columbia. The route began and ended at the Relay Creek Trailhead and went up Little Paradise Creek through Lorna Pass to Lorna Lake, up Sluice Creek and over to the head of Grant Creek and Tosh Creek then over to Vic Lake and Mt Vic. I returned by DIl Dil Plateau to Graveyard Cabin and out through Relay Creek. The weather wasn't the best but it is a beautiful area!
Wild Sculpture Trail of Sundance Provincial Park (Sundance Creek Valley and Hoodoos)

Along the trail you will observe incredible sandstone formations naturally sculptured by the wind. Certain parts of the trail offer a spectacular skyline view of the Sundance Valley. From here you will have a clear view of the blue lakes below. Along the trail there are many fresh water springs. The length of the trail 1-way is 9 kilometres. Please be aware that you will be traveling on active logging and oilfield roads.Location: Follow Switzer Drive to the Valley District, turn left onto the Willow Creek Road turnoff. Drive 5 kilometres and turn right at the Emerson Creek Road. Take a right. Follow Emerson Creek Road signs until you get to Emerson Lakes Campground, approximately kilometre 59 on the yellow signs. Continue for 8 kilometres past Emerson Creek Campground and you will come to a parking lot. There should be a sign stating Wild Sculpture Hiking Trail. At the entry of the trail there is a small booth, which should have information about the trail.

Wild Sculpture Trail is a 13.7 kilometer lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Yellowhead County, Alberta, Canada that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, camping, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from May until September.

The Wild Sculpture Trail is approximately 7 km in length (one way). The hoodoos occur between km one and two, making them accessible to those who desire a short, spectacular hike. Please treat the hoodoos with respect, as the soft sandstone sculptures are easily vandalized and eroded. The forest in this area reveals the diverse plant life that is specifically indigenous to the area. Abundant populations of beaver and waterfowl can be observed on Beaver Lake. Moose, deer, bear, marten, and many types of songbirds are only some examples of the other species that also call this valley home. There is an un-maintained trail that travels further into the Park from the south end of the Wild Sculpture Trail. This un-maintained trail travels along the north side of the three lakes found within the Park. There are also several un-maintained creek crossings – travel this trail at your own risk and be prepared for a wilderness experience. The Wild Sculpture Trail is a hiking trail for people with moderate hiking experience. The trail has very little overall elevation gain as it follows the Sundance Valley.

Hesquiat Peninsula Provincial Park Hiking Trip 2017
The Hesquiat Peninsula is a peninsula on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, located northwest of the town of Tofino and Clayoquot Sound and Nootka Sound to the northwest. It marks the division between the two regions formed by those sounds and is named for the Hesquiaht people of the Nuu-chah-nulth, and is the location of Hesquiat Peninsula Provincial Park. The Estevan Point lighthouse is at the apex of the peninsula.
The Hesquiat Peninsula is one of the quietest of the Vancouver Island coastal trails, seeing way less visitors than the West Coast or Nootka trails, yet it also has the fewest difficult sections. It is about 50 km long, most of it along the seashore. The trail features great rock ledges, some boulder hopping, and lots of sandy beaches.
Perhaps because it requires both a flight in and a flight (or boat ride) out to access, this keeps the numbers down, but whatever the reason those looking for a greater wilderness experience should seriously consider this trail. Less people also means more wildlife so those hoping to encounter wolf or bear might keep this in mind.

Prairie View Trail in Kananaskis | Journey Alberta
In this video I hike up the Prairie View Trail, sometimes referred to as the Barrier Lake Fire Lookout, in Kananaskis. We start the hike at the Barrier Dam Day Use Area, and takes us up Yates Mountain in the Bow Valley Provincial Park. The route is over 6 km one way, and over 400 m of elevation gain. The views from the top are excellent, with Calgary visible in the distance. Barrier Lake below looked amazing as well, with the water looking a turquoise colour.

8:30pm, we found a beaver chasing a duck in the beaver creek during the family walk after dinner.

After finishing the Revelstoke 3 day enduro, we still had a day left to go ride! We decided to go try out the Martha Creek DH trail, just north of Revelstoke. It was a massive 1500m (5000ft) descent!

Lake Superior Provincial Park Coastal Trail
Entire trail from Agawa Bay to Chalfant Cove. One of the best trails on Lake Superior. Remote, rugged, challenging but some of the best views! Many of the best locations along the trail are labeled. For a full detailed report see here:
