This is our second visit to Belsay Hall with the lovely walk through the quarry garden to the old castle. We will go back one Spring to see the Rhododendron and Azalea bushes in full bloom. Suitable for Children and Family viewing

Belsay Hall, Castle & Gardens | Northumberland | Being new members of English Heritage, we took our little boy out to see a Knights Tournament and to look around Belsay Hall, Castle and the Gardens in Northumberland.
We will have to go back a visit again to have a better look at the gardens and Hall. We had a great day and recommend a visit here.

Belsay Hall, Castle & Gardens | Northumberland | Extended Version || I decided to go back and look at some of my earlier edits to see if they could be improved. I decided to merge together the footage I took from two separate trips to Belsay Hall. I also had a bit footage I just hadn't used as I was trying to keep the videos shorter. #LoveCastles #EnglishHeritage
Some of the footage is a bit rough because it's from before I had my gimbal, and is actually what inspired me to buy a gimbal.
Some footage is from August 2018 when we went to see a Knights Tournament, this was filmed using a handheld Canon IXUS 132HD compact camera.
The rest of the footage is from our second visit in October 2018, when I had my newly purchased Zhiyun Smooth 4 mobile phone gimbal holding my Huawei P20 this makes for much smoother and higher quality filming.

Belsay Hall was a modern villa with a comfortable library, drawing room and dining room built to overlook a romantic prospect to the south. But it's owner, Sir Charles Monck was obsessed by ancient Greece and owned every book published on Greek architecture. So the details inside and out were derived from the Classical buildings which he had seen on his honeymoon in Athens.

Visiting Belsay Hall, Castle (rooftop) and Gardens, Northumberland, UK. pt1
Belsay is the creation of the Middleton family, over more than seven centuries. The Middletons were first recorded as owning Belsay in 1270. Although they moved out of the hall in 1962, the estate that surrounds the historic nucleus of hall, castle and garden remains in their possession.
The great fortified tower that still dominates the castle was built both as a statement of family pride and as a response to the conflict and unrest in this border region between England and Scotland. Built in the 14th century, it is one of the best-surviving examples of a pele tower – a regional type of fortification built by rich families in the late Middle Ages to defend themselves.

Belsay Hall and Castle
A quick tour of the Belsay Hall and Castle. Belsay Castle is a 14th-century medieval castle situated at Belsay, Northumberland, England. Belsay Hall is a unique, remarkable, and unusually early example of a Greek Doric house and associated picturesque landscape. The surrounding gardens also include a quarry which was the source of stone for the Hall. I really enjoyed walking around this attraction and I wanted share some of my experiences with you.

On a snowy Sunday we decided we needed to get out of the house before we killed each other! We decided to head into Northumberland to Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens! We practically had the place to ourselves and the Gardens were a fantastic place in the snow! We found giant hanging icicles, trekked through the garden to the 14th century Belsay Castle and explored the 19th Century Belsay Hall.
All in all a fantastic days adventure at English Heritages Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens.

Frosts hit Belsay gardens
Gardeners at some of the region's grandest stately homes were left reeling by the big freeze. Hannah Bayman went to film at Belsay Hall in Northumberland.
BELSAY CASTLE AND BELSAY HALL NORTHUMBERLAND 2011
Belsay Castle is a 14th-century medieval castle situated at Belsay, Northumberland, England. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Grade I listed building.
The main structure, a substantial three story rectangular pele tower with rounded turrets and battlements was constructed about 1370, and was the home of the Middleton family. In 1614 Thomas Middleton built a new manor house attached to the tower. A west wing was added in 1711 but was later largely demolished in 1872 by Sir Arthur Middleton when the remainder of the house was considerably altered.
The castle was abandoned as a residence by the family in the early 19th century when Sir Charles Monck built Belsay Hall close by. It is administered by English Heritage and is open the public. The interiors were largely removed and it was then used as a ready-made folly, as was fashionable among the aristocracy at the time, serving as setting for garden parties and other entertainments.
The house was built between 1810 and 1817 for Sir Charles Monck (then of Belsay Castle close by) to a design by architect John Dobson. It is built in ashlar with a Lakeland slate roof in the Greek Doric style.
The house measures 100 feet (30 m) square with a lower kitchen wing attached to the north side. Externally the house appears to have two stories,although there is an additional storey hidden within the roof space to house servants etc.
This service side of the house was badly affected by dry rot in the 1970s and, following remedial work, it has been left as a weather-proof shell to illustrate how the house was built. The hall was the residence of the Middleton family until 1962.
