Places to see in ( Cullen - UK )
Cullen is a village and former royal burgh in Moray, Scotland, on the North Sea coast 20 miles east of Elgin. The village now has a population of 1,327. Cullen is noticeably busier in summer than winter due to the number of holiday homes owned. The organs of the wife of Robert the Bruce are said to have been buried in its old kirk (church) after her death in Cullen Castle. Robert the Bruce made an annual payment to the village in gratitude for the treatment of his wife's body and its return south for burial. A recent non-payment of this sum by the government was challenged and settled to the village's favour.
The village is noted for Cullen Skink (a traditional soup made from smoked haddock, milk, potato and onion) and its former railway bridges, two of which are now part of the national cycle network. These bridges were required, at considerable cost, due to resistance to the railway line being routed any closer to Cullen House. The most westerly (and by far the longest) viaduct is highly photogenic, and often features in tourist guides and Scottish calendars. Near Cullen is the peak Bin Hill, visible from some distance, such as from Longman Hill.
Cullen has a very long history, and a remarkably well-documented one thanks to the survival of a number of sources. These are summarised in two key books: the Annals of Cullen by W Crammond (1904) and the Church Annals of Cullen by W Robertson (1938). The first deals primarily with the civil governance and the latter with church governance up to the disruption. Cullen received royal burgh status between 1153 and 1214 AD during the reigns of Malcolm IV and William I. It is also known to have received a charter in 1455 AD from James II. The burgh was abolished in 1975 by the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973.
Cullen is noticeably busier in summer than winter due to the number of holiday homes owned. The village has an impressive beach and golf course, and the Crannoch wood which offers good views of the area. The 1,086 feet (331 m) Bin Hill or Bin of Cullen is a nearby hill with an associated footpath.
Cullen was the setting for Doris Davidson's romantic novel The Three Kings, named after the three rocks at the east end of Cullen beach. The local writer Simon Farquhar set his first two plays, Candy Floss Kisses and Elevenses with Twiggy, in the village and they were produced by BBC Radio 4. Samuel Johnson had less passion for Cullen. According to James Boswell, writing in The Journal of a Tour to the Hebrides, the pair considered that Cullen had a comfortable appearance, though but a very small town, and the houses mostly poor buildings. Dr Johnson was also disgusted by the sight of the dried haddocks broiled that they were served for breakfast there and refused to eat them. Of course given the general views aired so freely by Dr Johnson this is mild indeed.

Old Photographs Buckie Moray Scotland
Tour Scotland wee video of old photographs of Buckie, a burgh town on the Moray Firth coast. Once a thriving fishing and shipbuilding port, today Buckie is a small fishing town. George Imlach McIntosh, VC, was born in Buckie on 24 April 1897, he was a Scottish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. He was 20 years old, and a private in the 1/6th Battalion, The Gordon Highlanders, British Army during the First World War. For his bravery at the Battle of Passchendaele, he was awarded the VC. He died on 20 June, 1968. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.

2014 Six Harbour Walk
Thank you to the amazing walkers who took part in this year's walk! The walk covers a dramatic 15 mile stretch of the Banffshire Coast, taking in the harbours of Portsoy, Sandend, Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty and Buckie. Whether you are a first time participant or a regular walker, we can assure you of a special experience. This is a chance to explore the wonderful scenery of this part of the Moray Firth coast.
The 2014 Six Harbour Walk is about supporting people in need and transforming lives: those who suffer from Cancer or Tinnitus, or those who might be exploited for child labour. It is also about supporting local people volunteering in the community. Rotary International works in the local community, nationally and worldwide.

The Roy Castle Foundation is dedicated to defeating lung cancer. It focuses on Lung cancer research, prevention and support.
British Tinnitus Association
The British Tinnitus Association strives to be the primary source of support and information for people with tinnitus. They aim to encourage prevention through their educational programme and to seek effective management of tinnitus through a medical research programme.

2017 Six Harbour Walk
The Six Harbour Walk took place on Sunday 30 April 2017. It allowed participants to raise funds and enjoy a walk along this dramatic section of the beautiful and Banffshire Coast between Portsoy and Buckie. There was a strong breeze from the south-east which gradually cleared the cloud during the day. Sandy beaches and coves, spectacular cliffs, caves and stacks, and six unique harbours! This year's charities are Macmillan Cancer Support, Mercy Ships, North East Sensory Services, the Castle Hill Project and local voluntary organisations and charities.
Rotary International works in the local community, nationally and worldwide. In the UK we want to help ensure that no one should face cancer alone by contributing to Macmillan Cancer Support. Internationally we want to support the tremendous work done by Mercy Ships volunteers on the Africa Mercy hospital ship that works provides medical care for some of the poorest people in the world. In North East Scotland we want to help provide practical, social and emotional support to people with serious sight or hearing loss through North East Sensory Services. Locally we want to support volunteers who are opening up access to the historic Castle Hill in Cullen. Finally we want to support the excellent work of local volunteers and youth organisations.
Together we will make a difference! Thank you for your involvement in the 2017 Six Harbour Walk!

Brexit, UK Politics and the Monarchy
Here is the first of my responses to my Q&A request video
I give my thoughts on Brexit, from start to finish..... ok from start to probably nowhere near the finish, but to where we are now! Then from this to discussing the present political climate and then onto the monarchy.
In the video i mention an earlier video I made defending the UK remaining a constitutional monarchy. Actually one of my videos I am proudest of and full of information (even if you disagree with my conclusions). So here is that video:

A restaurant boss is caught hauling fish from the English Channel
Steve Cullen, 35, confronted three men as they pulled ashore 40kg of sea bass at 4am in Poole, Dorset. The trio then bundled their catch into a van emblazoned with the slogan: 'Eat Pho. Traditional Vietnamese Rice Noodle Soup' on the side. Mr Cullen films them as and asks them about a huge bucket of fish they have in a small fishing boat. Tran Doan, 37, the owner of Eat Pho, and Tran Hoang, 41, of Thatcham, Berkshire, pleaded guilty to two charges last Thursday.
