Birling Gap Seven Sisters Beachy Head England UK Vlog
I originally thought that I had visited Beachy Head, but it turned out I was a bit west of it at Birling Gap in East Dean. Scott took his grandmother and I her and it was a very clear, sunny and non-windy day. This area in the South Downs, is known for the bright white chalky cliffs and pebble beaches.

Welcome to Birling Gap and the Seven Sisters, East Sussex, UK (06 July 2019)
Birling Gap is a coastal hamlet within the parish.
It is situated on the Seven Sisters not far from Beachy Head and is owned by the National Trust.
Coastal erosion has already removed some of the row of coastguard cottages built in 1878, but those that remain are still inhabited.
There is a cafe, shop and visitor center run by National Trust, and a metal staircase leading down to the enclosed pebble beach and the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs.
In time, the houses are likely to be demolished due to the severe coastal erosion; the Government has concluded that the commercial value of the houses does not justify the construction of sea defenses.
If walkers are cut off at high tide, they can climb the ladder, which is replaced often, to Birling Gap.
The beach, which was awarded the Blue flag rural beach award in 2005, is advertised by Naturist UK.
It has a large number of rock pools.
Noted artist Jean Cooke lived in two cottages at Birling Gap. She painted seascapes there and died in 2008 while looking at the sea.
In August 2017 hundreds of people suffered ill-effects after a chemical poisoning incident.

Beachy Head with Drone - Eastbourne to Birling Gap - East Sussex | Harry's Hikes
Beachy Head forms part of the Seven Sisters National Park and the best stretch is from Eastbourne to the Birling Gap. It's where you will find the UK's highest chalk sea cliff!
Start in Eastbourne, the closest free parking is on Dukes Drive where there is a Cafe and toilets nearby (Postcode BN20 7XL). Make the steep ascent up the hill where you will be able to look back and see Eastbourne and it's Pier. Keep walking where you can either choose the upper or lower routes which pass a couple of large football pitches which run to the edge of the cliff!
If you plan on going down to see the lighthouse then check the tide times and you can then use the ladder at Cow Gap to get access to the beach at this point. You MUST check tide times as the lighthouse can only be accessed 2 hours each side of the lowest tide. Depending on the timings you may choose to go down either at the beginning of the hike or at the end on your return.
Make your way higher to the the First Lighthouse Viewpoint where you will catch you first glimpse of Beachy Head Lighthouse. Continue up a very steep route to reach the War Memorial and you can take a break there.
Once you have regained your breath continue on where you will see The Beachy Head Pub. You can make a pit stop there if you like. Now keep along the cliff edge path admiring the panorama views where you will be able to see The Belle Tout Lighthouse in the distance. Keep to the path which runs steep in places both up and down as you follow the cliff edge.
A good place to stop for lunch is either just before the Belle Tout Lighthouse where I've marked the second Viewpoint, or just after where the terrain evens out. Once you pass the Lighthouse it's a gentle downhill walk to the Birling Gap.
Once at Birling Gap you may choose to take a break. There are shops and toilets there. Make you way down the steps and onto the pebbly beach where you can explore, just be careful when walking on the seaweed as it's very slippery!
Then you can make your way back the route you came and enjoy the views as the sun begins to set and the cliffs start to turn to an orange tint. If you get tired there is the option to take the ESS Bus which runs all along the main road. This will lead you back to your starting point.
This hike is rated Moderate/Difficult as there are many steep and slippery parts. Hiking boots recommended if going down to the Lighthouse.
Enjoy and please subscribe and give your feedback which will be much appreciated.
Seven Sisters / Birling Gap / Beachy Head - 8 Minute Version (DJI Phantom 4 Pro and Mavic)
Some great drone footage from the UK Sussex coastline around the Seven Sisters and Beachy Head. Lots of fun to fly here but standing close to the cliff edges is risky, as many people have lost their lives when the chalk rock faces suddenly crumble and fall into the sea. They are gradually being eroded by the sea, so the Coastguard Cottages you see at the start of this video will sadly be lost in the next few decades as the sea eats at their foundations.
Thanks to anyone subscribing (or liking) my videos from 2017, I have a video of Arundel Castle coming soon. Thanks for your patience!

Day Trip to the Seven Sisters White Cliffs From London By Train!
Visiting the Seven Sisters Cliffs on a day trip from London had been on my list for awhile and I'm so glad I finally did it!
I took the train from London Victoria Station to Eastbourne. I headed to the beach, along the promenade and straight away I could see the white cliffs lining the coastline. I decided to make Birling Gap my half way point which was a beautiful, although steep in places, 9-10km walk which took me through countryside meadows and right alongside the edge of the cliffs.
Birling Gap has a cafe and a beach which was a great place to have lunch before turning around and doing the walk back to Eastbourne.
I would really recommend heading to the Seven Sisters Cliffs on a day trip, whether you're visiting from London or elsewhere in the UK. It's so gorgeous, especially on a sunny day!

Day Trip to: Birling Gap and the Seven Sisters
For someone who doesn't like to hike, I really enjoyed going to Birling Gap. In my opinion, it's one of the most beautiful places in the UK.
