Ep.23 Cruising the Bahama from Abaco's to Georgetown Exuma on our catamaran
As we cruise south from the Abaco Islands to our favorite spot in Georgetown Exuma we check out Allens Cay and the beach shack that promises you free beer tomorrow haha. There are some great sailing days around the Sea of Abaco with full sail and smooth seas. Xander plays his little heart out and ends up passing out sitting down (thats a first) haha. Moma makes some bread with the help of Xander and we fly the new spinnaker from Cape Eleuthera to Georgetown non stop.
Xander: you are sure coming into your own world. Attitudes and all haha. You vocabulary is growing by the minute and your sentence structure is fantastic (thats your favorite word currently). Bed time is a little challenging sometimes as you don't want to miss every second of the day. You are a ball of wonderful energy and love your progress! Keep it up little man!

Entering Little Harbour Abaco Bahamas
Another pilot guide. This time entering Little Harbour in the southern Abacos. A fantastic safe anchorage with a great beach bar Pete's Pub and a famous sculptor working in bronze. Little Harbour has a very shallow entrance, fortunately now buoyed, but is still unsuitable for boats with more than about 1.5m, 5ft draft

AAS Eclipse Workshop 2017
On 21 August 2017, a total eclipse of the Sun will cross the United States from coast to coast, giving tens of millions of people in a 70-mile-wide path from Oregon to South Carolina a chance to see the solar corona and experience all phases of the eclipse. The Moon's shadow will sweep across the country starting mid morning in Oregon with just under two minutes of totality and reaching maximum duration of approximately 2 minutes 40 seconds in Southern Illinois before exiting over South Carolina mid afternoon.
Outside the path of totality, all of North America will experience a partial eclipse. This event, the first total solar eclipse to touch the US mainland since 1979 and the first to span the continent since 1918, presents a unique opportunity to excite people about science and connect them personally to the cosmos, as well as to conduct several important scientific observations. We are a working group dedicated to the science and public outreach of this unique event.
The Eclipse 2017 Workshop IV took place in Carbondale, Illinois, on Friday and Saturday, 10 and 11 June 2016, at the SIU Carbondale Student Center, hosted by Bob Baer and Shadia Habbal.

Culebra Island travel video in the Spanish Virgin Islands
Thank you for viewing this video about my sailing cruise travels aboard the Guiding Light. In this video, we will start exploring Culebra, one of Puerto Rico's island municipalities and part of the Spanish Virgin Islands.
As we begin our sailing cruise, we first visit the town of Dewey. Then, we explore the island's west coast, stopping to enjoy some food two notable eateries, Zaco's Tacos and Mamacita's.
A can't miss destination is the small island of Culebrita located just a couple miles north of Culebra. Here we explore what was once the oldest active lighthouse in the Caribbean until it was abandoned in 1975. Next, we take a dip in the natural jacuzzi on the northeastern tip of the island.
Afterward, we stop at Flamenco Beach to view two fascinating relics of World War II. When we get to the west side of Culebra, we find Isla Luis Pena, a small island home to a wildlife preserve.

Which One Do You Want? To Visit A Private Caribbean Island Or A Public Port?
Which One Do You Want? To Visit A Private Caribbean Island Or A Public Port? Do you want to just visit a private island run by the cruise line or would you prefer to visit a public port in the Caribbean? With a public port stop you can see the local ways and meet island residents and get a feel for the traditions of the area. But with a private resort run by the cruise lone, you get the water slides, the zip lines and security from the outside world. Umm, lots to think about here. Check out the discussion in this live video!

Calling All Cars: Disappearing Scar / Cinder Dick / The Man Who Lost His Face
The radio show Calling All Cars hired LAPD radio dispacher Jesse Rosenquist to be the voice of the dispatcher. Rosenquist was already famous because home radios could tune into early police radio frequencies. As the first police radio dispatcher presented to the public ear, his was the voice that actors went to when called upon for a radio dispatcher role.
The iconic television series Dragnet, with LAPD Detective Joe Friday as the primary character, was the first major media representation of the department. Real LAPD operations inspired Jack Webb to create the series and close cooperation with department officers let him make it as realistic as possible, including authentic police equipment and sound recording on-site at the police station.
Due to Dragnet's popularity, LAPD Chief Parker became, after J. Edgar Hoover, the most well known and respected law enforcement official in the nation. In the 1960s, when the LAPD under Chief Thomas Reddin expanded its community relations division and began efforts to reach out to the African-American community, Dragnet followed suit with more emphasis on internal affairs and community policing than solving crimes, the show's previous mainstay.
Several prominent representations of the LAPD and its officers in television and film include Adam-12, Blue Streak, Blue Thunder, Boomtown, The Closer, Colors, Crash, Columbo, Dark Blue, Die Hard, End of Watch, Heat, Hollywood Homicide, Hunter, Internal Affairs, Jackie Brown, L.A. Confidential, Lakeview Terrace, Law & Order: Los Angeles, Life, Numb3rs, The Shield, Southland, Speed, Street Kings, SWAT, Training Day and the Lethal Weapon, Rush Hour and Terminator film series. The LAPD is also featured in the video games Midnight Club II, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, L.A. Noire and Call of Juarez: The Cartel.
The LAPD has also been the subject of numerous novels. Elizabeth Linington used the department as her backdrop in three different series written under three different names, perhaps the most popular being those novel featuring Det. Lt. Luis Mendoza, who was introduced in the Edgar-nominated Case Pending. Joseph Wambaugh, the son of a Pittsburgh policeman, spent fourteen years in the department, using his background to write novels with authentic fictional depictions of life in the LAPD. Wambaugh also created the Emmy-winning TV anthology series Police Story. Wambaugh was also a major influence on James Ellroy, who wrote several novels about the Department set during the 1940s and 1950s, the most famous of which are probably The Black Dahlia, fictionalizing the LAPD's most famous cold case, and L.A. Confidential, which was made into a film of the same name. Both the novel and the film chronicled mass-murder and corruption inside and outside the force during the Parker era. Critic Roger Ebert indicates that the film's characters (from the 1950s) represent the choices ahead for the LAPD: assisting Hollywood limelight, aggressive policing with relaxed ethics, and a straight arrow approach.
AROUND THE WORLD without visas
You will not surprise anyone with around-the-world travel in the 21st century. People span the globe by land, water and air, on foot and by bicycles, alone and with their families. Generally speaking, any around the world travel is, in fact, a journey home with the longest detour.
Nonsense! Thus, around the world travelers are forced to think of new vehicles – from stilts to a children's scooter, or of new conceptual ideas.
Valery Shanin can not complain about lack of ideas. The professional traveler, writer and journalist, began his first circumnavigation back in 1999. He returned home only in 2002, traveling mostly hitchhiking. On the one hand, he has spent 1080 days for this travel. And on the other – only 280 dollars! This way having made one of the most economical circumnavigations.
Five years later, Valery Shanin had another idea. How about trying to circle the Earth as quickly as possible, by saving time instead of money? How many days would be necessary for this purpose? 108 – such is Valery's answer. After having returned home from such a high-speed expedition, Shanin decided, that the subject of circumnavigations was settled for him.
But how can the traveler stay still at home? And here, a new idea turned out! It came obviously from the former traveling experience, that was often connected with the burdensome procedure of obtaining visas. Communication with the embassy and consulate officials, unfortunately, inevitably saddens any most interesting travel. However, there are countries, visa-free for Russians! So, it is possible to go traveling, without addressing consulates. This is how the project The World without Visas was brought to life.
Valery decided to begin with no less, than with a circumnavigation.
Around the world without visas! - Shanin put forward the loud slogan, and left for Europe, Africa, Middle East, Indochina, South East Asia, Oceania, South America, Carribean islands. 38 countries in 255 days and with no one visit to any consulate.
