Horncastle is a market town in Lincolnshire, England, 17 miles east of the county town of Lincoln. Roman Horncastle has become known recently as Banovallum (i.e. Wall on the River Bain) – this name has been adopted by several local businesses and by the town's secondary modern school.
It lies to the south of the Lincolnshire Wolds, where the (north–south) River Bain meets the River Waring (from the east), and north of the West and Wildmore Fens. The south of Horncastle is called Cagthorpe. Langton Hill is to the west. It used to be part of Horncastle Rural District in the Parts of Lindsey, but is now in the district council of East Lindsey, based in Manby, east of Louth.
North of the town, the civil parish meets West Ashby and Low Toynton, south of Milestone House on the A153 (Louth Road). The boundary skirts the east of the town, crossing Low Toynton Road, following the Viking Way then meeting the River Waring. It briefly follows north of the A158, to a caravan park, where it meets High Toynton. Southwards on Mareham Road it meets Mareham on the Hill, east of Stonehill Farm. South of the town, and north of Telegraph House, it meets Scrivelsby, following High Lane westwards to cross the B1183, south of Loxley Farm, then the A153 and skirts the southern edge of the sewage works next to the River Bain where it meets Roughton (Thornton). It follows the Old River Bain west of the A153 northwards across the river meadows, crossing the Horncastle Canal (and Viking Way). Eastwards it crosses the B1191, south of Langton Hill, where at Lowmoor Lane it meets Langton. It follows Langton Lane northwards, with Mill House Farm (Langton Mill) to the west, meeting Thimbleby. It meets the B1190 where the pylons cross the road then the A158 at the B1190 junction, briefly following Accommodation Road to the east. It skirts the north of the town, briefly following Elmhurst Road, passing south of Elmlea Farm. and straight through Elmhirst Lakes. At the River Bain near Hemingby Lane, it meets West Ashby.
Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergency Service is based at the Boston Road Industrial Estate. The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust is based in Banovallum House. Mortons of Horncastle is a major national magazine publisher of classic motorcycles, aviation and road transport heritage titles, situated in the south of the town on the industrial estate off the A153 (Boston Road).
Horncastle sits at the crossroads of two of Lincolnshire's major roads: the A158 runs west-east, joining the county town of Lincoln with the resort of Skegness on the Lincolnshire coast; the A153 joins Louth in the north with Sleaford and Grantham in the south. These two roads meet at the Bull Ring in the centre of Horncastle.
The A158 through Horncastle becomes busy during the summer holidays, as holidaymakers travel between Horncastle and Skegness. To alleviate pressure on the town centre caused by the traffic, a relief road, Jubilee Way, was constructed in the 1970s. Minor roads run from Horncastle to Bardney, Boston (via Revesby), Fulletby and Woodhall Spa.
Horncastle is home to a hub for the InterConnect rural bus service. Regular buses run to Lincoln, Skegness and across the Wolds. The Viking Way long-distance footpath also runs through Horncastle. Horncastle Canal, based upon the River Bain, was constructed from 1792 and opened in 1802.

Rye Level Crossing (The Grove Crossing)
Three Class 171s in Southern livery head into Rye station and to Hamstreet respectively. This crossing is the easternmost in the cinque port of Rye and is on the boundary of Rope Walk and The Grove, but that was too confusing for Network Rail which is why they named this Grove Road crossing. Since I was last here, the lights have been upgraded to modern LEDs and now have new poles. The original barriers complete with alarms still remain, although they may be gone in the next couple years. Also since last time, the alarms have changed tone considerably, although this is still recognisable from what's there. This is a small road in Rye next to the station car park, so not much special here. The amount of people these days that don't turn their engines off. You're wasting your own money by burning petrol!

Tallington is a village and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 497. It is situated 4 miles (6 km) east from Stamford and 8 miles (13 km) north-east from the centre of Peterborough. The village has around 200 houses.
Geography:
Tallington is located on the main A1175 road (formerly the A16) (for Market Deeping) which runs between Stamford and Spalding. To the west is Uffington. Tallington has a busy level crossing over the East Coast Main Line. There was once a Tallington railway station, but it is now closed. Since the 1930s there has been a plan for a Tallington bypass and bridge over the railway; even though the village ended up making concrete bridges for many UK motorways (including much of the Yorkshire section of the M62), there has never been a bridge made for the village. Dow Mac even offered to donate a bridge to the village.
From the East Coast Main Line south-east of the village, the parish boundary follows the River Welland to the west, it meets Uffington and crosses the A16 a half-mile west of the village at the point where the pylons cross the road, then skirts the edge of Casewick Park. It crosses the ECML a half-mile north of the village, and meets Barholm and Stowe. It skirts the northern edge of Barholm Lodge, across the north section of Tallington Lakes and meets West Deeping at King Street. It follows King Street southwards to the A16, which it follows to the west, around the western edge of West Deeping, to the River Welland, north of Lolham Mill, where it meets the City of Peterborough and the parish of Bainton.
Governance:
At the Tallington Lakes Leisure Park, made from gravel pits, is a dry ski slope and water activities with a campsite. The parish church is dedicated to St Lawrence and is in the Uffington Group of churches. The village public house was the Whistle Stop next to the railway, formerly known as the Kesteven Arms, it closed in January 2017. The village station closed in 1959. The River Welland passes across the south of the village. The Lincolnshire county boundary is 100 yards (91 m) to the south.
Tallington Lakes are situated directly east of the former Dow-Mac concrete works, and are formed from its gravel pits. Dow-Mac, on Barholm Road, was formed by Harry Dowsett, who lived in Greatford Hall, in 1943 as Dowsett Engineering Construction, later working with Mackay. It made concrete railway sleepers during the war, and later motorway concrete pillars and beams. Prestressed concrete was first made by Dow Mac (Products) Ltd in Tallington.
The site is now known as Tarmac Precast Concrete.
Old railway station:
Tallington railway station was a station in Tallington, Lincolnshire on the Great Northern Railway between Grantham and Peterborough. It was opened on 2 October 1853 and it closed on 1 September 1959, however the former goods yard is still open and is used by the Dow-Mac works at Tallington for delivery of concrete beams, bridge supports, sleepers, etc. by rail.

Harrisburg ( HARR-iss-burg; Pennsylvania German: Harrisbarrig) is the capital city of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the United States, and the county seat of Dauphin County. With a population of 49,192, it is the 15th largest city in the Commonwealth. It lies on the east bank of the Susquehanna River, 107 miles (172 km) west of Philadelphia. Harrisburg is the anchor of the Susquehanna Valley metropolitan area, which had a 2017 estimated population of 571,903, making it the third most populous in Pennsylvania and 96th most populous in the United States.
Harrisburg played a notable role in American history during the Westward Migration, the American Civil War, and the Industrial Revolution. During part of the 19th century, the building of the Pennsylvania Canal and later the Pennsylvania Railroad allowed Harrisburg to become one of the most industrialized cities in the Northeastern United States. The U.S. Navy ship USS Harrisburg, which served from 1918 to 1919 at the end of World War I, was named in honor of the city. In the mid-to-late 20th century, the city's economic fortunes fluctuated with its major industries consisting of government, heavy manufacturing, agriculture, and food services (nearby Hershey is home of the chocolate maker, located just 10 miles (16 km) east).
The Pennsylvania Farm Show, the largest free indoor agriculture exposition in the United States, was first held in Harrisburg in 1917 and has been held there every early-to-mid January since then. Harrisburg also hosts an annual outdoor sports show, the largest of its kind in North America, an auto show, which features a large static display of new as well as classic cars and is renowned nationwide, and Motorama, a two-day event consisting of a car show, motocross racing, remote control car racing, and more. Harrisburg is also known for the Three Mile Island accident, which occurred on March 28, 1979, near Middletown.
In 2010 Forbes rated Harrisburg as the second best place in the U.S. to raise a family.
