A Day in a Beach Hut | Walton-on-the-Naze | Extrashani
On Saturday 16th of June, my family and I hopped in the car to spend the day at the seaside. The weather was a bit dull to start with but it soon brightened up resulting in me being extremely sun burnt by the end of it. We rented a beach hut for the day from Millie's Beach Huts after my Mum came across their page on Facebook.I've shared some of my photos and more information about the day on my blog shanicoles.co.uk
Britain's Largest And Most Luxurious Beach Huts
Britain's largest and most luxurious beach huts, which have just been built. Located in the New Forest, they include a fully-fitted kitchen, bathroom with shower and toilet and a wood-burner in the living room. Power to the electrical appliances, including a full height fridge, is provided by solar panels, while there's a gas oven and hob for cooking on. Pricing takes into account the picturesque location on Calshot Beach, overlooking the Isle of Wight
Measuring 23ft by 11.5ft, the huts are about twice the size of the traditional seaside shack and come complete with all the comforts found within a residential home.
The two cabins, which have a mezzanine level and can sleep up to eight people, are now available as holiday lets, costing up to £1,450 a week.
The two huts, named Gullwing and Little Tern, are being let by Fiona Drummond of Cadland.co.uk, which has a variety of holiday lets throughout the national park.
The furniture and fittings are all bespoke and made from birch plywood while the exterior is wrapped in tin sheets. The build took three months with up to 14 people working at a time.

Essex Beach Hut Boasting Breath-Taking Harbour Views Goes on Sale for £185,000
Yellow cabin uses solar panels on the roof for electricity inside and offers stunning views over Christchurch Bay. Sporting a fully-fitted kitchen complete with a gas cooker and a fridge, the tiny 'Hut 74' can sleep six adults. The timber shed lacks a private bathroom and other washing facilities, so owners will have to use a communal block.
A quaint yellow beach hut on a remote sandbank has been placed on the market for £185,000 - the same price as a five-bedroom family home in Harwich, Essex.
The tiny cabin, which is just under 15ft in length, uses solar panels on the roof to control the electricity inside and offers stunning views over Christchurch Harbour.
Sporting a fully-fitted kitchen complete with a gas cooker and a fridge, hut 74 can sleep six adults, two on pull out beds in the dining area and four upstairs in a large mezzanine.
Despite having a kitchen and living area, the 9ft 3in by 14ft 5in shed lacks a bathroom and washing facilities, so new owners would have to share a communal shower and toilet block nearby.
Sited midway between the Headland and the end of the spit, the property also fronts onto the beach. As well as the interior amenities the shed boasts a large private sun terrace which is situated at the front of the tiny hut.
Situated midway between the Headland and the end of the spit, the property also fronts onto the beach.
Due to its extremely remote location, the cabin can only be reached by a lengthy walk or a ferry journey followed by a 'short walk' - or a ride on a novelty Noddy train.
Owners can only sleep at the huts between March and October, although they can visit any time of year.
The cabin has been put up for sale by Denisons Estate Agents for £185,000 and is estimated to cost a further £2,500 annually for council tax and ground rent.
Much-loved for their quirky character as much as their confined cosiness, a row of eight of the Mudeford Spit beach huts all sold with starting prices of£200,000 when advertised in May 2015.
MailOnline Travel also recently covered a beach hut in Whitstable, which was added to the market for £225,000.
The one bedroom 'shack' on Seasalter beach, on the outskirts of the town, offered 'breathtaking views of the bay towards the Isle of Sheppey, across Seasalter Marshes and the surrounding countryside.'
The wooden beach hut, which also has a living and kitchen area with a calor gas cooker, a bedroom, a shower room and two balconies, costs £100,000 more than a flat in the same area.

Estate Agent Andrew Denison says he thinks the beach hut on Mudeford Spit is good value for money, despite it having no electricity or running water.

Mudeford Spit beach hut sells for £295k, despite no loo
Britain's most expensive beach hut has sold for a record price of £295,000 - despite having no mains electricity or toilet. The wooden cabin is on the exclusive Mudeford Spit in Christchurch, Dorset, which is home to the most costly beach huts in the country.Last summer one went on the market for a record £280,000, but Hut 413 has now smashed that figure, at a price which could buy a six-bedroom detached town house elsewhere in the country. The sum is largely down to the hut's stunning location on the desirable sandbank, set just yards from the water's edge, with spectacular and uninterrupted views across Christchurch Bay towards the Isle of Wight and the Needles. The beach hut measures 21ft by 10ft and can comfortably sleep six.The huts rarely come on the market and generally sell very quickly.Owners can only sleep in the huts from March to October but can visit any time of year. The sandbank, which can only be accessed by a 20-minute walk, novelty land train or by ferry, has about 350 beach huts, some of which have been in the same family for decades.Hut 413 has a mezzanine floor that currently sleeps three people but could sleep four and the sofa pulls out into a double bed. There is also space for a dining table and four chairs.Lighting is provided by solar panels on the roof, the full-size domestic oven runs on Calor gas bottles and there is a solar-powered fridge freezer.Unlike many of the huts at Mudeford, this hut does have running water in the kitchen, provided from a standpipe and heated by a gas hot water cylinder. But for shower and toilet facilities the new owners will have to go to the nearby communal block. It also has a hard-wearing solid oak floor, inner walls built from ash, solid wood worktops and double glazed windows. There is also a large sun deck looking out onto the beach. The same money could buy a variety of properties across the country, ranging from small flats above a shop to luxurious town houses. In Exeter, Devon, £295,000 could buy a spacious three-bedroom detached house with a large garden, while in Maidstone, Kent, the same money would cover a well-kept three-bedroom terraced house.Further from London, a keen buyer in Durham, County Durham, could pick up a five-bedroom town house with balconies for the same asking price, while a six-person family could move into a similar property in Carlisle, Cumbria. In Colliers Wood, London, however, the same money would only take the buyer as far as a one-bed maisonette above a shop on the High Street. And even a parking space in central London, near Hyde Park, would cost just £5,000 more than the beach hut with its luxury location. The record for the most expensive beach hut was beaten twice in 2017, both times at the popular Mudeford location.A hut went for £275,000 last March, while another sale in July, this time for Hut 78 which also has no running water, pushed the record up to £280,000.Owners rent the huts out for more than £1,000 a week in the summer with guests happy to pay the m

Beach Hut Lifestyle
Another beautiful film from Andy Ballard, this time tracing the history of a beach hut in Portland and its effect on the Pearce family from Bristol. For generations the Pearces have holidayed on the idyllic coasts of Portland in Dorset living a hunter-gather lifestyle on a sea-food diet of fish and crustaceans. Jonny Pearce gives a wonderful narration of the history of the family's hut and shows us how rewarding it is to live off the land, or rather, the sea. Make sure you check out the outtake at the end as well!

They’ve become a symbol of the British seaside, and these brightly painted and cosy beach huts are in the running to be named the best of them all.
From Brighton and Bournemouth to Minster and Milford, the huts vying for the Beach Hut of the Year award offer spectacular views of the sea and special memories for their owners.
Some are named for late relatives and one is designed specifically for cancer patients, while others have played host to family gatherings, celebrities and even wedding receptions.
Above all else, these huts provide a tranquil place for holidaymakers to get away from it all and soak up the sun.
The nationwide search to find Britain’s best beach hut was launched by Towergate Insurance, with the final shortlist being whittled down to 11 after hundreds of entries were sent in from around the UK.
