that is Chennai or Visakhapatnam/Vizag, you need to cross Chattarpur and Gopalpur before coming to Palur junction
from where you have to take a right turn and drive 40 kms to reach parikud. You can hire a boat till dolphin point or till Sea Mouth.
Odisha and Odisha tourism provides an amazing opportunity to explore the unexplored. the travel is really cheap and it is heaven for those who love seafood with the best varieties of prawns. super cheap delicious food and place to stay. Odisha provides a Bliss of

Breakfast Island Chilika Lake Odisha Tourism | A short documentary on Chilika Lake
#chilika #odishatourism nalabanaisland
hello friends, Chilika Lake is a brackish water lagoon, spread over the Puri, Khurda and Ganjam districts of Odisha state on the east coast of India, at the mouth of the Daya River, flowing into the Bay of Bengal, covering an area of over 1,100 km. It is the largest coastal lagoon in India and the second largest coastal lagoon in the world after The New Caledonian barrier reef in New Caledonia.
It is the largest wintering ground for migratory birds on the Indian sub-continent. The lake is home to a number of threatened species of plants and animals.
The lake is an ecosystem with large fishery resources. It sustains more than 150,000 fisher–folk living in 132 villages on the shore and islands.
The lagoon hosts over 160 species of birds in the peak migratory season. Birds from as far as the Caspian Sea, Lake Baikal, Aral Sea and other remote parts of Russia, Kirghiz steppes of Mongolia, Central and southeast Asia, Ladakh and Himalayas come here. These birds travel great distances; migratory birds probably follow much longer routes than the straight lines, possibly up to 12,000 km, to reach Chilika Lake.
According to a survey, 45 percent of the birds are terrestrial in nature, 32 percent are waterfowl, and 23 percent are waders. The lagoon is also home to 14 types of raptors. Around 152 rare and endangered Irrawaddy dolphins have also been reported. Plus, the lagoon supports about 37 species of reptiles and amphibians.
The highly productive Chilika Lagoon eco-system with its rich fishery resources sustains the livelihood for many fishermen who live in and near the lagoon. The water spread area of the lagoon ranges between 1165 and 906 km2 during the monsoon and summer respectively. A 32 km long, narrow, outer channel connects the lagoon to the Bay of Bengal, near the village Motto. More recently a new mouth has been opened by CDA which has brought a new lease of life to the lagoon.
Microalgae, marine seaweeds, sea grasses, fish and crab also flourish in the brackish water of the Chilika Lagoon. Especially the recovery of sea grass beds in recent years is a welcoming trend which may eventually result in re-colonizations of endangered dugongs.

Hidden Island of Odisha | Trip to NO NAME Island in Chilika
Entire Video Shoot on Lenovo Vibe Shot
Though these islands of Chilika has the repertoire of just being day visits, Rajhans island, not so far corner of Chilika and much closer to Satapada is a revelation in itself. We went with no prior assumptions of how to spend a night at this island and to our fascination we were more than excited to see water rising ( not alarming ) in the island as the night grew under the bright moonlit night devouring fresh 'Bali Poda Fish' ( Sand burnt fish ) and many more exotic dishes only to witness a beautiful blue morning beside the beach followed by fishing, walks and many more .... !!

Boat journey in Rambha , Chilika ( Near Gopalpur ) - 1
Rambha is one and half hour journey from Gopalpur . It is actually a part of Chilika , Orissa . One can enjoy visiting islands by boat there. This room and tower on Chilika lake was built before independence - but I must admit that not all the tourists visiting that beautiful place now-a-days have ethnic sense.
Chilika Lake,Narayani Temple,Niramalajhar,Barkul,Rambha Pathanibas,Gems of Odisha
Chilki-Chilika Lake is a brackish water lagoon, spread over the Puri,
Khurda and Ganjam districts of Odisha state on the east coast of India,
at the mouth of the Daya River, flowing into the Bay of Bengal, covering
an area of over 1,100 km.
Nalbana-Nalbana Bird Sanctuary or Nalbana Island is the core area of the
Ramsar designated wetlands of Chilika Lake. It was declared a bird sanctuary
under the Wildlife Protection Act in 1972. In the heart of the park, one can
see thousands of birds descending during the migratory season
Barkul-Barkul Panthanivas of OTDC ( Orissa Tourism Development Corporation )
is the hub of tourism from this part of the lake.
narayani Temple-Narayani Temple is dedicated to ten armed goddess Narayani
or Parvathi and is located in Narayani village situated near Khalikote,
Odisha, India. The temple is popular for Durga Puja and a fair held in the
Indian month of Chaitra. The temple was renovated by the zamindars of
Khalikote in the early 18th century.
Niramalajhar-The Nirmaljhar is a perennial stream in the Ganjam District
in the Indian state of Odisha. It is located beside the temple of Lord Vishnu.
The Nirmaljhar flows from the Badaghati Mountains in Eastern Ghats. Khallikote
princess Smt. Sugyani Devi has currently formed a committee to promote Nirmaljhar
as a tourist site.
rambha-Queen of natural beauty, Chilika, the largest brackish water lake in Asia covering
an area of over 1,100 sq. km is a great attraction for the tourists for fishing, bird
watching and boating. In winter Chilika aflutters with thousands of indigenous and migratory
birds of many varieties from far and near - even from the distant Siberia. The fabulous beauty
of Chilika which has inspired poets to sing its glory and which can be best enjoyed from Balugaon,
Barkul, Rambha and Satpada must be seen to be believed. One can also have a glimpse of the
lake from the moving trains and vehicles on the road near these places. The atmosphere
is just serene and undisturbed amidst the blue expanse of water on one side and an
evergreen range of hills on the other. Dotted with a host of islands with romantic names,
a cruise in Chilika will be a life-long memory.
40 Km Road Vlog From Berhampur To Rambha , Chilika Lake , Panthanivas | Best Tourist Place In Ganjam
Rambha, Chilika Lake
The state of Odisha has many of my favourite places and Chilika lake is definitely one of them.
Chilka is one of the largest brackish water lagoons in the world, offering shelter to a huge variety of birds and aquatic plants. Rambha is located at the southern coast of the Chilka lagoon, at a distance of 40 km from Berhampur on National Highway 5. The lake also serves as a safe haven of around 150 species of migratory birds during winter. Dotted with numerous islands, Rambha boasts of its enchanting picturesque beauty overlooking the Chilka Lake and the hills. From here, you can go for Dolphin watching and bird watching to different islands like the Breakfast Island, Becon Island and Birds Island.
Places to see in Rambha: You can make trip to the Honeymoon Island, nestled in the Rambha bay, adjacent to the Sankuda Island. The Breakfast Island, which has been formed between Badakuda Island and Somolo Island in the Rambha Bay is truly the most beautiful place to have your packed breakfast. The Somolo Island has the remnants of a dilapidated bungalow, built by the King of Kalikote. Some of the other major islands are Honeymoon Island, Birds Island, Parikud Island, Island of Nalabana, Rajhans Island and New Mouth. Among all these islands, the island of Nalbana deserves a special mention, as it is a sanctuary and a prime refuge point of the migratory birds. You can also savor the view of dolphins at the mouth of Chilka near Satpada.
The Beacon Island is also an impressive sightseeing location. The Khalikote range is also admirable, forming a wonderful backdrop of the Somolo and Dumkudi islands. Many tourists also visit the Bird’s Island, found in the southern sector of Chilka. Tourists with religious bent of mind can make a trip to the Kalijai Temple, devoted to Goddess Kalijai. Trips can also be made to the small island of Barunkuda, near Magarmukh, which houses a shrine of Lord Varuna. The Bhabakundeswar temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva is also worth visiting.
