Bristol Cider Shop - Promotional Film
-
A promotional video for the 'Bristol Cider Shop', I was part of a crew of 5 over a two day shoot. This was my first project within University, enjoy.
Discovering Bristol’s Pirate Past - Bristol Quayside
We have visited Bristol in the South West of England a number of times and despite being a frequent visitor to the city it is surprising how many places we just ignore and walk past.
This time I (Mr W) took some time and tried the free ‘Bristol Quayside Adventure’ audio tour which you can find at
Just to confirm this is NOT a sponsored video, this was my own little trip.
There are also a number of other audio tours about Bristol which guide you through the history of the city.
The tour I chose takes you back to Bristol’s pirate past around the old city and harbour with stories about Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, the real Robinson Crusoe and the privateers of 18th century Bristol.
The Bristol audio tours take about 1 to 2 hours to complete depending on how long you stop and are definitely worth giving a go.
The main stops on the Bristol Quayside Walk:
1:40 The Merchants Venturers Almshouses, King Street
2:44 The Theatre Royal, King Street
3:04 The Llandoger Trow
4:07 Welsh Back
4:49 Queen Square
6:01 Woodes Rogers, Merchant and Privateer
6:51 The Hole in the Wall pub
7:50 Redcliffe Caves
8:46 The Ostrich Inn
9:01 Bristol Harbour

We get a little tipsy on our cider tour of Bristol. As a Somerset boy, Alex is a huge fan of cider so we went hunting for the best cider haunts in Bristol.
We visited the oldest pub in Bristol, the Hatchet Inn, along with a personal favourite, The White Lion, overlooking the Clifton suspension bridge. Later, we visit The Cori Tap and end the night at The Apple, a bar on a boat serving nothing but cider!
Apple cider is famous in Somerset and is a MUST TRY if you come to England. Our personal favourite is Thatchers, which can be found all over the country.

In 2017 we left home with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a sustainable travel lifestyle happen! We are now living our dream as digital nomads and want to inspire you to create your own story, whatever it may be!
After 5 years of aimless, yet enjoyable, backpacking around the world we found ourselves in New York City battling with depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head on. After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle.
Our time spent battling depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. In our vlogs, we talk openly and honestly about our travel experiences, the digital nomad life and depression. We hope our videos can help to inspire you to create a life that makes you happy!
We work online and aim to spread the message of “Earn Less, Live More”, which encourages people to question their definition of success, and to pursue what makes them truly happy instead of chasing only money.

Bristol Harbourside - once a busy dock, now a modern development
Harbourside:
Once a busy dock where sailors and merchants would trade goods and set sail for voyages of discovery, Bristol's Harbourside is now an attractive, modern development filled with restaurants, bars, shops and hotels.
The area is alive with the buzz of Sunday markets, waterside restaurants and bars and a whole host of sports and activities including yachting, paddle boarding, cycling and rowing. Stroll around the water’s edge and you will find Millennium Square acting as a fantastic central hub, with its fountains and big screen as well as world-class attractions such as Brunel’s ss Great Britain, At-Bristol Science Centre, Bristol Aquarium, Watershed and M Shed. Or you could just let the world pass you by whilst watching the boats head in or the swans swim past whilst dangling your feet over the edge with a cold glass of cider in hand.
A bit of Harbourside history
Bristol's history as a trading port stretches back to 1051 when it was listed in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. By the 14th-century, the city was trading with Spain, Portugal and Iceland, and ships were also leaving Bristol to found new colonies in the New World. Bristol's history as part of the triangular slave trade is well documented. In 1809, Bristol was transformed by the opening of the Floating Harbour to overcome the challenge of the second highest tidal range in the world. Over the next two centuries the harbour grew as a busy commercial port and has now transformed into an amazing destination for leisure, business and residence. Visit M Shed for its excellent permanent exhibition on the history of Bristol.
United States:
The United States of America (USA), commonly known as the United States (U.S.) or America (/əˈmɛrɪkə/), is a federal republic[16][17] composed of 50 states, a federal district, five major self-governing territories, and various possessions.[fn 6] Forty-eight states and the federal district are contiguous and located in North America between Canada and Mexico. The state of Alaska is in the northwest corner of North America, bordered by Canada to the east and across the Bering Strait from Russia to the west. The state of Hawaii is an archipelago in the mid-Pacific Ocean. The U.S. territories are scattered about the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, stretching across nine official time zones. The extremely diverse geography, climate and wildlife of the United States make it one of the world's 17 megadiverse countries.[19]
At 3.8 million square miles (9.8 million km2)[20] and with over 324 million people, the United States is the world's third- or fourth-largest country by total area,[fn 7] and the third-most populous. The capital is Washington, D.C., and the largest city is New York City; twelve other major metropolitan areas—each with at least 4.5 million inhabitants—are Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco, Phoenix, and Riverside.

PUB:
A pub, or public house, is an establishment licensed to sell alcoholic drinks, which traditionally include beer (such as ale) and cider. It is a relaxed, social drinking establishment and a prominent part of British,[1] Irish,[2] Breton, New Zealand, Canadian, South African and Australian cultures.[3] In many places, especially in villages, a pub is the focal point of the community. In his 17th-century diary Samuel Pepys described the pub as the heart of England.[4]
Pubs can be traced back to Roman taverns,[5] through the Anglo-Saxon alehouse to the development of the tied house system in the 19th century. In 1393, King Richard II of England introduced legislation that pubs had to display a sign outdoors to make them easily visible for passing ale tasters, who would assess the quality of ale sold.[6] Most pubs focus on offering beers, ales and similar drinks. As well, pubs often sell wines, spirits, and soft drinks, meals and snacks. The owner, tenant or manager (licensee) is known as the pub landlord or publican. Referred to as their local by regulars, pubs are typically chosen for their proximity to home or work, the availability of a particular beer or ale or a good selection, good food, a social atmosphere, the presence of friends and acquaintances, and the availability of recreational activities such as a darts team, a skittles team, and a pool or snooker table. The pub quiz was established in the UK in the 1970s.[7]
RESTAURANT:
A restaurant (/ˈrɛstərənt/ or /ˈrɛstərɒnt/; French: [ʀɛs.to.ʁɑ̃] (About this sound listen)), or an eatery, is a business which prepares and serves food and drinks to customers in exchange for money. Meals are generally served and eaten on the premises, but many restaurants also offer take-out and food delivery services, and some offer only take-out and delivery. Restaurants vary greatly in appearance and offerings, including a wide variety of cuisines and service models ranging from inexpensive fast food restaurants and cafeterias to mid-priced family restaurants, to high-priced luxury establishments.
In Western countries, most mid- to high-range restaurants serve alcoholic beverages such as beer, wine and light beer. Some restaurants serve all the major meals, such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner (e.g., major fast food chains, diners, hotel restaurants, and airport restaurants). Other restaurants may only serve a single meal (e.g., a pancake house may only serve breakfast) or they may serve two meals (e.g., lunch and dinner) or even a kids' meal.

Reclaiming a neglected orchard near Bristol UK
A work-in-progress, reclaiming an orchard of a few hundred trees that was neglected for circa 15 years and working it over from Bramley / James Grieve to cider varieties, which I am collecting from various sources including other orchards to which I have access. Lots to do and lots of future decisions to make about spacing (i.e. taking lots of trees out entirely), varieties etc., but currently learning the rudiments of grafting and seeing what works for me in the limited spare time I have.
The Wurzels - Live in Broadmead - Bristol - 30/7/01 - (The Combine Harvester remix release gig!)
So,back in 2001 I had Mondays off work and I made a rare trip into Bristol from my then home in Patchway.I browsed the shops and ended up in HMV where I picked some c.d. or other to buy.But when I go to the till there was a stack of new c.d.s from one of my favourite bands the Wurzels. The girl serving told me it was the new Combine Harvester remix c.d. single which was raising money for Farm Aid and the Wurzels would be in to sign them later! Not only that but they were going to be playing just around the corner in Broadmead in about an hour and a half,if I remember rightly. So I bought the c.d. and then cue a mad dash back home to get all my other Wurzels c.d.s and my trusty 8mm video camera.(It was only fourteen years ago but the digital age hadn't quite happened yet.)I just made it back in time, found myself a good position and pressed record!
This recording has moved house with me and it's been sat in a cupboard for many years so I thought it was time it saw the light of day.I did actually do four videos of this for someone to pass on to the band years ago but i'm not sure whether they ever got them? Now i've re-recorded it from the original 8mm tape and this is the best quality I can get.
I certainly don't claim any copyright at all,the songs are all obviously the Wurzels',and I'm putting this on youtube for the fans to see.And the band members hopefully.
Watching this back fourteen years later I'm very pleased with how it came out and it's a nice little snapshot of them in full flow from this time.
I've seen them play many times in and around Bristol and at Ashton Court and Glastonbury Festivals and having taken my kids to see them for their first ever gig at Yate Shopping Centre recently I can say that they're still going strong!
Grab a cider.sit back and hopefully enjoy...8-)

WEEKEND TRIP TO BRISTOL // U.K. TRAVEL VLOG
In which Melanie and I brave a 5 hour coach trip to the vibrant, underrated city of Bristol! We stayed in The Bristol Wing hostel, stopped into the funky fox coffee shop, explored the Bristol museum and art gallery, walked the iconic suspension bridge, stopped into The Florist for cocktails, went street-art hunting, thrifted for a bit , stumbled upon a public park, hung out in the sunshine at the Harbourside market, and grabbed a pint from Zerodegrees microbrewery before leaving! (- I highly recommend the mango beer they have on tap! x)

ENGLAND VLOG | Vi drar til Bristol + litt hverdagsvlog!
(Tillatt for alle)
Heisann!

Attractions Galore
There's plenty of fun to pack into a Harbourside visit, including a ferry boat ride (or a walk!) to Bristol's award-winning attraction, Brunel's ss Great Britain. Isambard Kingdom Brunel's engineering masterpiece, was the world's first great ocean liner and offers plenty to explore, from the sumptuous surrounds of the first-class dining saloon and the cramped bunks in steerage, to the iron hull under the glass 'sea' and the massive turning engine. 'Go Aloft' offers a unique opportunity to climb the ship's rigging and see Bristol from the yardarm. Free audio tours are available on board in several different languages.
Learn more about life underwater at Bristol Aquarium, which is home to native and tropical marine and freshwater creatures from around the world, all living in naturally-themed habitats.
Right next door is At-Bristol Science Centre, where over 300 hands-on exhibits beckon the inner-explorer to be unleashed. Present a weather forecast, walk through a tornado or learn more about the stars in the Planetarium at this hub of fun discoveries. At-Bristol is also home to Animate It!, where visitors can become animators for the day and see models and props, including a set from Aardman's Wallace and Gromit animation, A Matter of Loaf and Death.
Cultural Highlights
Internationally-renowned contemporary arts rub shoulders with the history and heritage of local people in the Harbourside's thriving cultural attractions. Bristol's Harbourside renaissance began in the mid-1970s with the opening of the Arnolfini, which has become an internationally-renowned contemporary arts centre presenting dance, theatre, performance, literature, film and visual arts. The regeneration continued with the launch of Watershed in the 1980s. Both venues have helped to shape the creativity and innovation at the heart of Bristol's cultural identity.
