The community ferry boats bringing local people in Bristol together 364 days a year
Bristol Community Ferry Boats are a community business based in Bristol Docks, they offer a fleet of five ferry boats to help local people and visitors get around the city quickly and discover the historic waterways. Alongside running a timetabled ferry service an impressive 364 days a year, they improve the lives of local people. They help young unemployed people train as skippers and crew members, and combat social isolation felt by many elderly residents by providing a safe space to come together.

A Trip Round Bristol Harbour
You might find this a bit like watching paint dry but here is a trip I did aboard the Margaret, owned by the Bristol Ferry Boats, in June 2015 around the Floating Harbour. The gent crewing the boat is, I am told, the boss, ably assisted by his daughter.
Margaret was built in Appledore 1955.

Discovering Bristol’s Pirate Past - Bristol Quayside
We have visited Bristol in the South West of England a number of times and despite being a frequent visitor to the city it is surprising how many places we just ignore and walk past.
This time I (Mr W) took some time and tried the free ‘Bristol Quayside Adventure’ audio tour which you can find at
Just to confirm this is NOT a sponsored video, this was my own little trip.
There are also a number of other audio tours about Bristol which guide you through the history of the city.
The tour I chose takes you back to Bristol’s pirate past around the old city and harbour with stories about Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, the real Robinson Crusoe and the privateers of 18th century Bristol.
The Bristol audio tours take about 1 to 2 hours to complete depending on how long you stop and are definitely worth giving a go.
The main stops on the Bristol Quayside Walk:
1:40 The Merchants Venturers Almshouses, King Street
2:44 The Theatre Royal, King Street
3:04 The Llandoger Trow
4:07 Welsh Back
4:49 Queen Square
6:01 Woodes Rogers, Merchant and Privateer
6:51 The Hole in the Wall pub
7:50 Redcliffe Caves
8:46 The Ostrich Inn
9:01 Bristol Harbour

Bristol Harbour Ferry England 2015
BRISTOL ENGLAND April 2015. A low cost way to explore Bristol Harbour is by taking a regular Harbour Ferry. With fares from about 4 pounds for a return trip it is possible to see the many sites this beautiful city has to offer at a reasonable cost.
Bristol Floating Harbour, England
Bristol Harbour (Bristol City Docks), once the original Port of Bristol is now a tourist attraction, ideal for a great day out for the whole family sightseeing in Bristol; the attractions in the Bristol Docks being the famous SS Great Britain built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel in the 19th century and ‘The Matthew’, a faithful replica of the sailing ship used by John Cabot who sailed from Bristol in 1497 to discover Newfoundland in Canada.
Also, featured in this video, right at the end, is a rather strange looking sidecar to a motorcycle, upcycled from an old bath, complete with shower, taps and a sink.

Followed by The SS Great Britain, The 1st ever iron hulled propeller driven ship.
Then Banksy's Grim Reaper on the Side of the Thekla a floating club known for being a music venue, and all sorts of weird and wonderful places.

Bristol City England UK - Boat Trip
Bristol has is all. Friendly but vibrant, with strong sense of community, full of clubbing and night-life, a great city to live.
One of those places that you want to visit again and again… Οne of the best places to live in Britain and a splendid choice for a holiday or weekend break.
If you have time, and would like to avoid buses or taxis, join a cruise on a ferry boat along the river. This is a wonderful way to see the city. There is a ferry point close to Bristol Temple Meads station or harbourside, stopping at various points. Cruise is a lovely relaxing 40 or a 80-minute trip, also hop on and off, as often as you like so that you can fully explore the city. Sit back with a beer or a coffee whilst enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Apart from viewing the city, you will definitely enjoy unparalleled scenic views of the river. Reasonable cost. Lovely Staff.
