UK ROAD TRIP - LAVENHAM, BURY ST EDMUNDS & CAMBRIDGE
IT'S UK ROAD TRIP TIME!
One of the things that we just had to do while Brianna was in the UK was go on a quintessentially English road trip! With stops at Lavenham, Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge, it doesn't get much more British than this!

After spending some time in London, we decided to hop in the car and hit the countryside in Suffolk and Cambridge stopping off at a few towns along the way.
The first place we visited was the famous medieval town of Lavenham. This place is jam packed with tea rooms and old Tudor houses, and it's an incredibly cute place to walk around of a couple of hours.
From Lavenham we drove to Bury St. Edmunds, an old market town with an ancient ruined abbey. It's also home to The Nutshell, the smallest pub in the UK- obviously we had to go in for a cheeky pint!
Our final stop on our UK road trip was Cambridge. Obviously you can't come to Cambridge without going punting on the River Cam and for us it was the perfect way to end the day!

Bury St. Edmunds Christmas Markets
Join us as we go on our #railadventure to the 2018 Bury St. Edmunds Christmas Markets in Suffolk, England.
We rode first class thanks to Greater Anglia from Norwich to Bury St. Edmunds. Then we got to explore the Bury St. Edmunds Christmas Fayre. Lots of different foods, gifts, mulled wine, and other beverages. It's one of the best Christmas markets in the UK. Christmas in Bury St. Edmunds is a big deal!
While we were in Bury St. Edmunds, we also visited the Cathedral (St. Edmundsbury Cathedral) and the ruins in the Abbey Gardens. There is more to see than just the Bury Christmas Market.

Bury St Edmunds is a market town in Suffolk, England. Bury St Edmunds Abbey is near the town centre. Bury is the seat of the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, with the episcopal see at St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
Bury St. Edmunds originally called Beodericsworth, was built on a grid pattern by Abbot Baldwin around 1080. Bury St. Edmunds is known for brewing and malting (Greene King brewery) and for a British Sugar processing factory, where Silver Spoon sugar is produced. The town of Bury St. Edmunds is the cultural and retail centre for West Suffolk and tourism is a major part of the economy.
Bury is located in the middle of an undulating area of East Anglia known as the East Anglian Heights, with land to the East and West of the town rising to above 100 metres (328 feet), though parts of the town itself are as low as 30 metres (98 feet) above sea level where the Rivers Lark and Linnet pass through it.
Bury St Edmunds railway station serves the town, operated by Abellio Greater Anglia, on the Ipswich to Ely Line. Trains run seven days a week, every two hours to Peterborough and hourly to Ipswich and Cambridge. Trains from Peterborough continue to Ipswich after Bury St Edmunds. Onward train connections from Cambridge link with London King's Cross, London Liverpool Street, Stansted Airport, and Ipswich which provides connections to London Liverpool Street via Colchester for example. The main interchange for bus and coach services for Bury St Edmunds is the bus and coach station, located on St Andrews Street North in the town centre.

This has got to be the SMALLEST PUB in the World....Space and seating is totally limited. How have they survived since 1799?
