The Birding Sights and Sounds of the Karoo
We are going to use the Karoo, with all its beauty and high levels of endemism, as a back-drop to focus on how to bird both by sight and by ear. Birds are fantastic to look at, (even the LBJs) so we are going to take you on a tour of the Karoo while discussing some of the ID challenges one could face, but we also plan to focus on the calls. Birding by ear is a very underrated and highly rewarding way to experience birds so we want to share some of our experience on this topic.

The Impala (Aepyceros melampus) is a medium sized antelope that is quite beautiful. It is bvy far the most common animal in the Kruger National Park, and is often taken for granted because of how common they are.
It alsways nice to watch these stunning ungulates. They are normally always ready and presentable for some amazing photographs.
There are well over 120 000 Impala in the Kruger National Park.
