About Places 2 Go Travel // P2GT
=====================================================
My name is Jay, I live in England, UK. On my travels I'm joined by my good lady, Bronte (most of the time), my Dad (some of the time) our wider family occassionally and my dog when not travelling overseas.
What's This Channel About: It started as a travel diary, as a way to share our experiences with our friends and family. A wider audience took an interest in my videos and things just grew from there.
Why We Love To Travel: As a young adult I was always too busy working to take vacations. My mindset was fixed on building a successful business and this was always justified by telling myself that I'd travel once I'd made my fortunes. By the time I was 30 years old I'd only been on two overseas vacations and did not think I was missing out. Roll forward to 2015, Bronte finally convinced me to book a stay at an all inclusive resort in Fuerteventura. It was an amazing experience and I was instantly bitten by the travel bug and now want to see loads of different places and travel as much as we can.
How frequently Do you Travel : As frequently as possible, currently around seven times per year. We have commitments at home meaning we need to fit our travel plans in around everyday life.
Why Are We Not On Camera: These videos are about the places, adventures, experiences and destinations. The videos are not about me / us - I'm not a TV presenter and I have absolutely not desire to be in front of the camera. Whilst not adverse to being on camera it's just not what our videos are about at the moment.
What's in our kitbag: Canon SX540, Canon SX510, various GoPro cameras including the Hero 3 and the Hero 4 Black plus a Nextbase Dashcam and Samsung and Apple cameraphones.
Our Favorite Places 2 Go Travel: Canary Islands, especially Lanzarote & Fuerteventura are big favourites with us because of the near year round sun and relaxing vibes.

Great Yarmouth & Caister Beach
Great Yarmouth, often known to locals as Yarmouth, is a coastal town in Norfolk, England. It is located at the mouth of the River Yare, 20 miles (30 km) east of Norwich.
The town has been a seaside resort since 1760, and is the gateway from the Norfolk Broads to the North Sea. For hundreds of years it was a major fishing port, depending mainly on the herring fishery, but its fishing industry suffered a steep decline in the second half of the 20th century, and has now all but disappeared. The discovery of oil in the North Sea in the 1960s led to a flourishing oil rig supply industry, and today it services offshore natural gas rigs. More recently, the development of renewable energy sources, especially offshore wind power, has created further opportunities for support services. A wind farm of 30 generators is within sight of the town on the Scroby Sands.
Caister-on-Sea, also known colloquially as Caister, is a small town in Norfolk in England, United Kingdom, close to the large town of Great Yarmouth. It is a seaside resort and busy holiday destination on the Golden Mile, with its main attraction being its sandy Georgian Beach. It is home to Great Yarmouth race course. At the 2001 census it had a population of 8,756 and 3,970 households, the population increasing to 8,901 at the 2011 Census. It used to be served by Caister-on-Sea railway station. There was also a Caister Camp Halt, opened in 1933 to serve the holiday camp mentioned below. However, both were closed in 1959, after which Great Yarmouth railway station, 4 km (2.5 mi) to the south, became the nearest station. The wind farm at Scroby Sands has thirty 2–megawatt wind turbines, 2.5 km (1.6 mi) off shore.

Caister's history dates back to Roman times. In around AD 200 a fort was built here as a base for a unit of the Roman army and navy. However its role as a fort appears to have been reduced following the construction of the Saxon Shore fort at Burgh Castle on the other side of the estuary in the later part of the 3rd century.
In the 1950s, a building near the south gate was excavated in advance of a housing development. These buildings certainly do not appear to be very military as they include a hypocaust and painted wall plaster as well as female jewellery, and it has been suggested that this building may have been an officer’s house, or possibly a ‘seamen's hostel’ which may be a polite name for a brothel. The site appears to have been abandoned in the 5th century, but 150 Saxon burials have been found to the south of the enclosure. The remains excavated in the 1950s are now managed by English Heritage and are open to the public.
There has been an offshore lifeboat in the area since 1791. It was used by a beach company to salvage ships wrecked on the sand banks. Between 1856 and 1969 lifeboats were operated by the RNLI. In the 1901 Caister Lifeboat Disaster, nine crew were lost while attempting a rescue during heavy seas. At the time it was said, If they had to keep at it 'til now, they would have sailed about until daylight to help her. Going back is against the rules when we see distress signals like that.
This response was translated by journalists to become the famous phrase Caister men never turn back. A monument to the men lost in the disaster bearing this inscription stands in the town cemetery and a pub called the Never Turn Back is named after the incident.
Today, Caister is also host to a National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) Station.
There is a Haven caravan and holiday park near the coast. One of the oldest in the UK, it began as the Great Yarmouth Social Club in 1906. In the 1950s and early 1960s, it used to be on both sides of the road. Opposite the beach was a dining room, paper shop, sports facilities and tourist chalets. These facilities were sold to a property developer who turned it into housing in the 1970s. In the 1980s a brand new holiday camp was opened, under the ownership of Ladbrokes, which was later sold to Warners in the 1990s.

Caister on Sea Haven Holidays Caravan Park, near Great Yarmouth Norfolk
Haven Caister Holiday Park, Caister on Sea Near Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, England. Recorded from the far south side of the park, far away from the entertainment complex. Sand dunes have been cut back massively this year and the wildlife habitat which grew along side the dunes has gone, as has the wildlife. Beautiful beach and nice caravan park.
Caister-On-Sea, Norfolk
There is 1 instance of my potty mouth swearing in frustration in this Vlog.
Out on the beach at Caister-On-Sea beach in Norfolk, photographing the sea defences looking out to Scroby sands, when the most amazing freezing fog rolled off the coast and into the sea, partly covering the wind turbines.
It was so fresh on this morning, the sand had that lovely crisp crunch to it as it had been so cold overnight.
