Sitting on Ostrich at Cape Town Ostrich Ranch.
Sunday(25-9-2016) :- Sitting on a Ostrich at the Cape Town Ostrich Ranch at Van Schoorsdrif road,Durbanville,Cape Town. This farm is situated approximately 30 Kms from V& A Waterfront and is home to the World's smallest ostrich Tom Thumb.A hood is put over the eyes of the Ostrich which makes it calm akin to a racehorse. The Ostrich is then brought to the mounting stand where i mount it very similar to a horse.Ostriches can run faster than a racehorse clocking anout 70Km/hr !:- Seafarer/Blogger/Traveller Rudolph.A.Furtado.

Into Africa: Cape Town / Oudtshoorn - 11/15
We took a 5 hour drive to Cango Wildlife Ranch where we interacted with a number of the animals including a crocodile dive (sped up since the croc was a bit lethargic - they had to keep poking it with a stick). Then we went for an ostrich ride, but it turns out that I was too heavy; they had a 75kg maximum weight limit.

Despite all my frustrations and mechanical issues, I did have plenty of fun too. I got to try Paragliding for the first time ever, and that was such a cool experience! A Big thanks to Michael Muldoon
( ) For an incredible experience paragliding !
I loved it so much, that I wanted to surprise Hanlie and take her too! I also got to do the table top mountain hike- which was 9 hours long and so intense- but SO BEAUTIFUL! And this was right in the heart of Cape town!
Originally, I planned to be in Cape town for only 1 week, and I ended up spending 6 weeks there! I managed to do a few trial trips around the area, but most of my time was spent in Cape town at the Reinecke Families home. The best part- Getting invited to all of the family functions and festivities. I really felt welcomed and like one of the family. It was really neat to see actually. Being Canadian and not having much for cultural traditions, it was beautiful to see the ways of the Afrikaans people. Braais ( BBQ's) are a huge thing for them there. Most priviledged families have built in stone Braai's in their home. And Meat is a big part of their diet. Big gatherings happened on a weekly basis and there was always an abundance of food ( mainly meat) a steady flow of wine and whiskey ( made locally) And there is ALWAYS live music and dancing! It was really great to hear Maruis talk about the history of his family. Where they came from, and how they did things in the older generations. It was nice to see these things still prevelent in their current lives. Most of the meat we ate was caught in the wild by themselves or friends. Family values are huge in the Afrikaans culture and it was so lovely to see the connection and bond between everyone. A huge massive thank you and tons of LOVE to my South African family, and all my beautiful new friends I will never forget and who made my time there so special and memorable.

I brought the bike back to Yamaha to have a thorough check through once again to make sure that nothing else was wrong. They fixed the suspected problem that caused my bike to fail- which they said was the broken earth wire. I brought the bike back to Martin the suspension guy to have the forks re chromed and my bike raised back up to the original height. It wasn't getting great ground clearance before when I had it lowered so I thought it was best to have it raised again, even though it was a bit too tall for me now.
I managed to get the bike papers extended which is great news that I no longer have to rush. Upon leaving Martins after picking the bike up, the bike died in traffic just two blocks away. I've seriously had it with this thing....

The biggest wildfire I've ever seen! In South Africa.
South Africa Adventure Episode 27
Well, it's never a dull moment in Rosie world. Ya just gotta go with the flow. Which is my motto when traveling. I never usually plan anything, because that doesn't leave room for a lot of improvisation. I may want to take a new road, meet some people, check out something cool, OR, be faced with the largest wild fire I've ever seen !!! Not able to get through the mountain pass I had originally planned to go through , I had to make sleeping arrangements last minute in this small town. Luckily for me, I found some lovely people to help me out ! which, is usually the case when traveling solo. There's always someone happy to help.
A super thank you to the lovely Shantel who works for Gecho for introducing me to Pierre
And a special great big Thank you to Pierre for being so kind and letting me stay at his campground. See, the worlds not such a big scary place after all ;)
If you're in South Africa and Pass through Bonnievale, and need a place to stay, Pierre has a great campsite- riggton.co.za. He also had proper accommodations available as well.
