Festival atmosphere for UK round of Extreme Sailing Series Cardiff Presented by Land Rover
Cardiff has established itself as the venue for the UK round of the Extreme Sailing Series global tour and this year it has delivered in style Racing on Cardiff Bay in a festival atmosphere where thousands came to watch. In a city that loves sport, some of its biggest names came to watch and experience Stadium Racing including British & Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton.
On the water two teams making their debut were impressive - Team Wales Land Rover and ChinaSpirit, but the battle for victory came down to a four way final day fight. SAP Extreme Sailing Team, Red Bull Sailing Team and fierce Series rivals Alinghi and The Wave Muscat in a final race head to head, before the defending Series champion Leigh McMillan claimed victory at the British round in Cardiff, presented by Land Rover. Next stop - Nice, 3-6th October.
