TOUR OF ALBERT PARK | AUCKLAND NEW ZEALAND
Today i wanted to give you guys a walking tour of Albert Park, here in downtown Auckland | New Zealand.
Albert Park is a public park in central Auckland, bounded by Wellesley Street East, Princes Street, Bowen Avenue and Kitchener Street. From the entrance at the corner of Bowen Ave and Kitchener St, sealed footpaths climb steeply through native trees to the large flat area at the summit, where a formal layout of paths and flower gardens encircle a fountain.
Albert Park occupies much of the site of the Albert Barracks, one of Auckland's early European military fortifications, which in turn was built on the previous site of Te Horotiu pa. The barracks consisted of a number of wooden and masonry structures standing in an enclosed area surrounded by a rock fortification built of the local volcanic stone. A portion of this wall remains visible in the adjacent University of Auckland grounds, and is registered by Heritage New Zealand as a Category I historic place.
After wandering around Albert Park and down Queen Street i headed back to my friend Tims place to try a new Indian restaurant around the corner in Mt Eden then we discussed our top five countries we want to visit but haven't been to yet.
Hope you guys are loving the Auckland videos I'm having an absolute blast here! More Auckland adventures to come! :)

More information about Albert Park from Wikipedia:
The Park was laid out in the 1880s and originally had commanding views over the city and harbour. The view now is of modern office blocks, except where mature trees have hidden the buildings. The Park contains a number of interesting specimen trees dating from the 1880s to the first World War.
A caretaker's residence was provided which still stands on the eastern side of the part adjacent to Princes Street. After 1906 this Gothic-styled cottage was occupied by the City Park Superintendent Thomas Pearson, who died here in 1931. It is currently occupied by a Clock Museum.
The design of the park was the result of a public competition and follows a formal layout with a main north-south axis. To the north of the axis is the bronze statue of Queen Victoria (1897); to the south is a bandstand (James Slator 1901). Between them is a large cast iron fountain imported from Great Britain in 1881 which forms the centre piece of the park.
The fountain is distinguished by statues of dolphins ridden by cherubs blowing horns which spout water. The fountain is surmounted by a generic female figure which also has a horn spouting water.
The statue of Queen Victoria was one of several similar sculptures installed by municipal authorities throughout the British Empire following the monarch Diamond Jubilee in 1897. This sculpture was cast in London and unveiled with considerable ceremony here as part of the Jubilee celebrations.
The red granite pedestal is intact but the ensemble originally included a massive cast iron ornamental fence which has been removed.

4 Whakamoenga Point, Acacia Bay, Taupo
Majestic Views In Premium Location
Less than 50 metres from the lake edge, 4 Whakamoenga Point offers a superb building platform surrounded by native bush and exotic plantings along with a private walking track to the water. Your architect's imagination can run wild. Building plans should cater for the majestic vistas across Lake Taupo to the mountains of the central plateau and provide for the multitude of outdoor living options on the of the site.
Whakamoenga Point, aka The Point, is just a 12-minute drive from Taupo's CBD. It is difficult to imagine a more splendid scene. Large Totara gates lead you into this gated community's native and exotic gardens within which are 56 properties, each cleverly shielded from the next by clever planting. Many bush walkways have been created within the gardens and a full-time caretaker lives on site with responsibility for maintaining the 13 hectares of commonly owned Lot 57. A conservation covenant guarantees the preservation in perpetuity of the flora of The Point and serves to retain the natural environment of the land.
A recreation pavilion nestles against a background of bush and overlooks two all-weather tennis courts complete with competition standard on-court lighting. Owners own their own freehold sites, a share of Lot 57 and shares in the management company, which is responsible for maintaining the commonly owned property. Surrounded by some of the most popular trout fishing waters on the Great Lake, The Point contains two boat launching ramps and many boat parks for the exclusive use of owners.
This is a very special part of New Zealand and an adventure land for children of all ages!

Free / Cheap, Self Contained, Luxury Accommodation NZ in New Zealand!
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★How How an NZ Couple Travelled for 7 Months Straight for only $100! Without Working for Anyone Else!
I eagerly joined HomeSafeSitters, excited at the prospect of hundreds of home owners worldwide offering me the chance to experience their way of life.
To my great delight, I was now able to communicate with home and pet owners as far away as Canada who were desperately looking for someone to take care of their lovely homes and precious pets. We were brought together by our common need, they for responsible, reliable, caring house and pet sitting services, us for nice, clean accommodation and of the firm belief that a house is not a home without a pet.
But, much like the catch 22 of someone looking for employment for the first time, we needed references in order to get experience. Not one to be deterred easily, I got the ones that I already had together from friends and family and applied for our police clearances from the Department of Justice. I scanned them ready to email to home owners. Deciding this would have to do, I started searching ads in our local newspaper for anyone who needed a house sitter at short notice.
Happily, we quickly received our first offer right there in our home town. After meeting us, they decided we were good people and would give us a go. We enjoyed 3 weeks in a lovely, warm brick home with 3 cats, 160 channels and all the mod cons. They appreciated daily emails about their healthy, happy cats, having their mail forwarded and the fact they returned home to a spotless home and weed free garden.
Our all important first 'real' home owner reference ensued.
Within our listing I highlighted everything we had to offer, i.e.: We genuinely love all animals. This for us is a big part of the joy of housesitting, meeting wonderful animals we would never have had the chance to spend time with. I have been a volunteer for the Cats Protection League and also Orana Wildlife Park. You may be a super keen gardener or a fantastic decorator. Give the home owner as many reasons as you can possibly muster to make yourself far and away the only choice to look after their wonderful home and precious pets.
Now you should be starting to get the general idea of what it really means to be a house sitter.
As a professional house sitter you should have your police clearances ready along with scans of your driver's licenses, contract and references to post out to the homeowner. We use all these tools to be as helpful as we can, to take all stress off the home owner and to provide total peace of mind. When we house sit I'm particularly fanatical about keeping the home to the exacting standards of the owner and to love their precious pets in the way we want our furry kid Eleanor to be treated while we're away.
Try this, calculate the rent the home owner could be charging you if they decided to hire their residence out to you as a holiday home. That is about how much per week you owe them in keeping their home just as they would at all times, loving their pets as much as they do and providing them with the valuable peace of mind they require.
As a professional house sitter, everything you do from the outset should be geared towards making sure everything is organised for the home owner. The house sit is your domain. You should make it your full time job to take care of every aspect of the sit. Let the home owner do nothing but take care of their holiday.
So if you have ever entertained the idea of house sitting, I highly recommend this comfortable, inexpensive and interesting way to travel. If you are of the notion that house sitters are always retired or middle aged married couples (as we did), we can now vouch for the fact they are not.
Happy travels!

Homelessness in Auckland
The number of people sleeping rough in Auckland’s city centre has more than doubled from 68 in 2013 to 177 in 2016. And this isn’t a problem confined to the city centre – it’s a significant issue across the Auckland region. New Zealanders pride ourselves on being caring and inclusive people. Having people sleeping rough in Auckland's city parks, under bridges, in shop entrances and back alleyways is unacceptable from a humanitarian and business perspective. As a society – government, local government, businesses, residents and community organisations – we can and must do more to urgently address this growing problem.Housing First is a homeless assistance approach that provides people experiencing homelessness with permanent housing as quickly as possible – and then providing connections to the community-based support services that people need in order to keep their housing and avoid returning to homelessness. Auckland Council is proud to be working with Heart of the City (link is external) and partnering with central Government and the Auckland Housing First Collective* to bring Housing First to Auckland in 2017.Join this conversation to hear from Dr Sam Tsemberis founder of Pathways to Housing in New York City and designer of the consumer-driven evidence based Housing First model. Pathways to Housing is based on the belief that housing is a human right. Drawing on his extensive experience, Dr Tsemberis will share his insights on how to end chronic homelessness in Auckland using the Housing First approach.
171 SOUTH STREET, FEILDING
HISTORIC HOME FOR MODERN TIMES
Situated just on the edge of Feildings town boundary this historic residence is offered for sale by owners who have loved the lifestyle the property has offered them. An imposing figure surrounded by mature trees the home, originally constructed in 1904, is a great example of the Tudor style of prominent architect Charles Natusch. With modernisation over the years this magnificent home offers warmth and space without compromising the original design. Sitting on 1.93 ha of land (nearly 3 acres) the property boasts several paddocks and separate orchard, with the remainder in lawn, gardens and native trees. A sweeping driveway takes visitors to the double front doors, where stained glass windows depict the initials of the first owner and his wife. The grand hallway encompasses the heart of the home with three separate living rooms opening from this timber lined area. Renovation of the kitchen has created a light open space which caters well with modern family life. A sheltered outdoor living area including in ground swimming pool and manicured gardens, petanque court included, enables abundant space for entertaining and family fun. The addition of a self-contained living room including wet floor shower and kitchen has enabled past use as a home stay and offers the ability to easily work from home
Our vendors say it has been a privilege to be the caretakers of this piece of Manawatu history; they have loved and restored this home to perfection. Now is the opportunity to hand the batten to the next caretaker where options abound for future use. Creating an historic homestay or function centre, develop the land with further planting or just enjoy the lifestyle on offer in one of NZs most vibrant country towns, RV $775,000.

Refugee was performed at Depot Artspace gallery in Devonport on 30 June 2017 as the finale in a fund-raising concert for refugees resettling in New Zealand, part of an art exhibition called Where Shall We Call Home?
Albi & The Wolves are Chris (guitar & big beard), Pascal (fiddle) & Micheal (bass).
I wrote Refugee back in the 1990s, at the time of the Kosovo crisis I think, when we were hearing a lot about refugees on the radio & it got me to thinking of how I'd feel if I was forced to leave my nice home, not knowing if I'd ever be able to return.
