Places to see in ( Dusseldorf - Germany ) Carlsplatz Markt
The Carlsplatz , for a long time Karlplatz , is the oldest still operated marketplace in Dusseldorf . It is located south of the old town , in Carlstadt. With the elevation to the city in 1288, Dusseldorf received city and market rights. Specifically, the following market and fair rights were Count Adolf V.
If the marketplace was originally in the area of Altestadt and Krämerstraße , it was later held in front of the town hall and the local market place. In 1371, the market rights of Count Wilhelm I were extended. The city was given the right to levy scales and scales for holding the markets . This gave the city an important financial source of income. In addition, a Sunday market was allowed to run from Saturday night to Monday morning.
Another market was in 1482 by Duke William III. approved as a six-day fair on St. Albania Day. In addition, a free could now every Wednesday grain market are held. As the city expanded at this time, these various weekly markets became regionally significant. The movement of goods by Rhine shipping increased this effect, which also benefited the markets.
In 1546, a new market order was issued by Duke Wilhelm V. On the marketplace, as elsewhere in the city, free weekly markets were held on Tuesday. Stand fees and quality controls could now be introduced. With the elevation to the capital of the duchies of Berg , Jülich, Cleves and the county of Mark in the 16th century, the importance of the Düsseldorf market increased, with the merchants of the imperial city of Cologne arose a trade conflict.
When Carlstadt was built in the second half of the 18th century, a new square, Carlsplatz , was built there . This was first expanded and used during the French occupation of Dusseldorf in 1797 as a parade ground for the French garrison and used. The Prussians used in addition to Carl Place to mid-19th century to drill for their soldiers who were stationed in the barracks at the Barracks Street. The terrain at the barracks was not sufficient for the training of all soldiers.
The Carlsplatz changed its spelling over time. In particular, he lost the Rhenish Fugen-s in the 20th century. However, the population never accepted this and always called it Karl s Platz , even if it was grammatically questionable (Karl's place, Karl's place, but Karlplatz as a word). For decades, the city refused to adopt the language of the population. Meanwhile, the S has returned, however, on the initiative of the civil society Alde Düsseldorfer , also the spelling with C at the beginning was reintroduced.

Teaser 1.Sendung CARLSPLATZ TV: Andre ZALBERTUS

CarlsplatzTV extra: Sandra Gültekin - Back- und Süßwaren Pilz
