Charleston Falls Preserve Hiking
Charleston Falls Preserve is located in Tipp City, Ohio which is North of Dayton. A popular local park due to a beautiful 37' waterfall. On this hike, I took my dog Pyper to test out her new backup before I take her on some backpacking trips. I bought her a RuffWear backpack from a local Dayton outfitters called Great Miami Outfitters. They had me bring her in for a proper fitting and the backpack is great! This park is also beautiful in the winter when the falls freeze over. The Outlan Channel has a couple of videos that show the park in the winter. Thanks for coming along the hike!

Father and Son Fall Foliage Hike - Charleston Falls Preserve
Charleston Falls Preserve is a beautiful natural gem located in Tipp City, Ohio, just north of Dayton. While small (only 216 acres), it packs a lot of beauty with woods, streams, a waterfall, caves, and more.
There are 3.74 miles of trail to explore within this beautiful nature preserve, and there are rare plants such as wild columbine, walking fern, purple cliff break, and rock honeysuckle.
The main feature is, of course, the waterfall. It is spring-fed and falls 37 feet to the gorge floor. It has an observation deck and boardwalk for optimal viewing. At times, it is just a trickle, but can be a rushing torrent after a good rainfall. The contrast of the fall foliage against the limestone this time of year is breathtaking.
Join me and my son as we explore the hidden beauty of this amazing place on a gorgeous fall day. The temperatures were unseasonably warm, and the sky a crystal-clear blue. This is father/son bonding time at its finest.

Charleston Falls Frozen Hike
I'm not a huge fan of winter, but sometimes getting out and hiking in the ice and snow is just magical. After a long stretch of brutally cold temperatures, things finally warmed up enough for me to get out and enjoy some time in the woods and explore a frozen waterfall right by my house. The ice formation was even more spectacular than I thought it would be. Join me as I explore a frozen Charleston Falls and some of the surrounding woods and prairies.
