Black, Professor of Archaeology in the Anthropology Department of the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton) presents a paper originally given to the annual general meeting of the Association of Professional Archaeologists of New Brunswick - Association des Archéologues Professionnels du Nouveau-Brunswick (APANB-AAPNB) in Saint Andrews, NB, November 2013.
Dr. Black discusses the history of archaeological research, culture history, and major climatic and erosional events in the Passamaquoddy Bay and Charlotte County area and provides insight from his personal experience and observations over three decades of fieldwork in the region.

Early Fredericton Photographs II 1867 to 1900
This is Josh Green's thrilling second part of his photographic tour through Fredericton’s past. It was held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick. His presentation covered 1867-1900, the period immediately following Confederation up until the turn of the century. Josh highlighted day to day 19th century life, interesting local characters, happenings, and vanished architecture all with lots of photos. His wonderful talk and old photographs gave a revealing glimpse into Fredericton’s first several decades.

Regional Heritage Fair -- School District 10 -- May 17, 2011 -- St. Andrews, New Brunswick
On May 17th, 7 schools participated in the District 10 Heritage Fair held in St. Andrews. The Heritage Fair was a marvelous day that married fun and learning in a manner that was found to be thoroughly enjoyable by all involved.
New Brunswick's Heritage Fair Program is part of a national education project developed to increase awareness and interest in Canadian history. In New Brunswick, the program is an initiative of the Heritage Branch in the Department of Wellness, Culture and Sport. Support is also provided from the Department of Education, Canada's Historic Places Initiative, the New Brunswick Museum, New Brunswick's Department of Intergovernmental Affairs, the New Brunswick Advisory Council on the Status of Women, the Council of Archives New Brunswick, the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, the New Brunswick Labor History Project, the New Brunswick Provincial Capital Commission, the New Brunswick Aboriginal Affairs Secretariat, the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources, Canada's National History Society, and the Margaret and Wallace McCain Foundation.
The many organizations involved in planning and providing support for this extraordinary academic event ensures that it will be positively received. This video documentary was prepared by Brayden Rideout.

On Monday April 21st 2014, ASU's Dr. Donald Fixico interviewed Labriola Center American Indian National Book Award winner Dr. Andrew Graybill about his book The Red and the White: A Family Saga of the American West.
Dr. Andrew Graybill is associate professor of history at Southern Methodist University and director of the William P. Clements Center for Southwest Studies.
Dr. Donald Fixico is Distinguished Foundation Professor of History at Arizona State University.
About the book:
Award-winning western historian Andrew R. Graybill sheds light on the overlooked interracial Native-white relationships critical in the development of the trans-Mississippi West in this multigenerational saga. Beginning in 1844 with the marriage of Montana fur trader Malcolm Clarke and his Piegan Blackfeet bride, Coth-co-co-na, Graybill traces the family from the mid-nineteenth century, when such mixed marriages proliferated, to the first half of the twentieth, when Clarke's children and grandchildren often encountered virulent prejudice. At the center of Graybill's history is the virtually unexamined 1870 Marias Massacre, on a par with the more infamous slaughters at Sand Creek and Wounded Knee, an episode set in motion by the murder of Malcolm Clarke and in which Clarke's two sons rode with the Second U.S. Cavalry to kill their own blood relatives. - from the publisher

The rise of accessible digital collections coupled with the development of tools for processing and analyzing data has enabled researchers to create new models of scholarship and inquiry. The National Digital Initiatives team invites leaders and experts from organizations that are collecting, preserving and providing researcher access to digital collections as data to share best practices and lessons learned. This event will also highlight new collaborative initiatives at the Library of Congress that seek to enhance researcher engagement and the use of digital collections as data.
